View Full Version : Fab Feb Mummas (July thread)
Oooh... lookie here.. new smileys !! (thanks Mon for the heads up)
:babydust2: (baby dust)
:snow: (snow)
:rain: (rain)
OMG what a sh*tter of a day
It started off ok, went into Frankston and did some shopping. Then decided that i wanted to meet DP for lunch in Sorrento as he was working down there for the day.
Went home first, fed and changed Cassidy thinking i would only be out for 2 hours at the most.
Start driving, get to Arthurs Seat and my bmw starts to overheat..... and then DIES on the side of the road. :banghead: Iv had it back for a week and its already crapped itself. So i get DP to come and rescue me.
Then i spend the rest of the afternoon at the inlaws. 3pm comes around and put Cassidy down for a nap thinking i wont hear anything out of her until 7pm as usual. DPs mum happens to go into the room where Cassidy was sleeping and WAKES her up 'accidentally'.... like whatever. I then spend the next 2 hours til DP comes trying to get Cassidy back to sleep, doesnt happen.
In that time, Cassidys nappy leaks all over her clothes and because i wasnt expecting to be out all day i hadnt packed any other pants for her. What kind of idiot doesnt put spare clothes in the nappy bag??? ME!!!
Then as we are going to leave, i find that i cant find my wallet. I search everywhere and cant find it. It has all my cards in it and about $80 in cash
I am so staying in bed tomorrow.
Kay love the pics! ive got that top for Cassidy, hers is also a size 0! I love cotton on kids.
Oh Juzzy - what a horrible day! Did you find your wallet in the end? What do you have to do with the car now, will it cost big $$$ to fix it?
I am going to try getting Coen back to one feed during the night again.... we were doing that for awhile, then we had the immunisations and wham back to two wakeups... last night when he woke at 2 l got up and patted him until he went back to sleep (he did some massive farts), l fed him at 4 and then he got up with DH at 7, DH kept him with him and bought him into me for a feed at 7.30.... so I know for the short term it might mean waking up more frequently, but if l can get it down to one feed during the night, l want to aim for no feeds at 6 months :fingerscrossed: am l dreaming???? Kay / Hannah - your babies are similar to Coen - do you think l am dreaming???
I have my cousin coming over for lunch today - (not the one with the baby) - looking forward to a girlie afternoon - but she will probably rush out of here at 2-2.30 saying she has to beat the traffic -- l am so sick of hearing that!!! My mum came over on Tuesday - she said it, my SIL yesterday, she said it, now my cousin today is bound to say it -- l know its true -- but Jesus surely they could brave it once in awhile - it really isn't that bad! Okay, now l know l am just being a spoilt brat -- l hate being caught up in traffic too (especially with a baby who wants out) -- but l am just so sick of those words... maybe l can ask them to use another code for it or something... OKay okay l am procrastinating, trying to avoid the cleaning... l will go now!
sandy- yep id say dreaming!. but im the wrong one to ask! id love to put an end to that 4am feed! and we have had the same thing with the vax and going back to 2-3 wake ups a night. so im back to no feed at 2am and trying to get him back to sleep.
im hoping he will sleep through by 12 months.
now eli has a cough, he was fine before that vax and he hasnt been sick with any cold/virul infection at all since birth. im not happy about it and talked to dp about this at 4am! his next shots will not be done the same way. we will be getting the pneumococcal done on another day.
im waiting on my bumbo seat. the tray came today.
juzzy- what a cr@p day you had.
never mind about the spare clothes=- mummas with four kids do it too! i got eli out of the car and hed peed through his clothes and carseat and i had no spares, id taken the nappy bag out hte car for the mechanics to get at the spare.
i didnt worry til i saw it was sh!t leaking! and he had a button under the bum singlet- so i had to strip him. i also had to get him out the car because id parked so far from the door of the pre-school i couldnt even get the teachers attention to take ds in for me.
never again that bag will stay in the car from now on.
tan- i got the mail today! thankyou, too cute! dp said theyre footy shoes, he loves them!
Sandy nope still havent found my wallet, i am going to go looking for it over the weekend, i am hoping that it is still in the bmw somewhere. Otherwise i will be canceling all my cards next Monday
Kay I usually take clothes out with me and dont need them, i dont even know why i didnt. From now on its going to be part of my going out routine.... lol ensuring that there is a change of clothes in the nappy bag!
Ok, been an alright day here. Stayed at home and chilled out for the afternoon.
Took a photo of Cassidys leg now that we have been using the QV bath oil for over a week now. THIS (http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p46/juzz01/P1000677.jpg) is the original photo the day before we started using the oil and THIS (http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p46/juzz01/P1000683.jpg) was taken this afternoon. It looks a lot better to me.
And just because im bored, there is THIS (http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p46/juzz01/P1000680.jpg) one and THIS (http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p46/juzz01/P1000630.jpg) one because i think shes cute :D
(sorry guys, been a long week and i think i am slowly going insane....)

Juz - I hope you find your wallet and what a bummer about the car. Cassi's leg does look heaps better now too.
Whilst we are doing cute photos, I thought I would throw in This One (http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i60/Hels-b/Reece/BunnyEars1.jpg)
I tried to get into chat last night but my server was playing up and was as slow as a wet weekend. Then I finally got in and waited in the main room for 5 mins for an invite. I couldn't get MSN up to alert anyone so in the end I gave up. Very frustrating!!
Have a great weekend everyone :)

I think my milk is on the way out. :gloomy: Liam pulls off and cries after 3 or 4 minutes in frustration as there isn't anything coming out. But on the plus side, solids are going really well. Liam can't get enough! Just introduced pumpkin today and he enjoyed it. He is eating three lots of solids a day, probably around 1/2 a cup for each serve. Hopefully his weight gains will improve soon.
The other end is a different matter. Quite a difference going from breastmilk poos to solids poos. Ick! Reminded me of thick chocolate cake batter... not solid, but not liquid either.
Heading off to bed soon. Still have a shocking headache, and have been achey all over today. Hoping I'm not getting sick again. Also hoping it isn't mastitis... one of my boobs is feeling very sore. Not a good sign.
Kay- glad you got the shoes!! They were one of my faves when the boys were little so im glad you like them! I've been searching for another pair that i have put in a safe place . When i find them i'll send them!!
Ren- was really good to hear from you????Hope everything is going ok for you!!
superfrog- :fingerscrossed: your not getting sick!
Juz- do you still want me to get that cream for you? Pm me your addy if you do and i'll pick some up for you.
Oh, and on the eclothes thing....i NEVER take anywith me! Im hopeless, i dont even take a nappy most times:o.
Well the older three are sick here! Never rains...it pours! Not to mention the fact that i feel like a bucket of poo too! FUN FUN FUN! NOT!!
Have a good weekend everyone!
what a gorgeous photo of Cassidy!!!
Mon - I hope its not mastitis!!!:fingerscrossed: that you wake up feeling right as rain tomorrow and not :rain: (just wanted to use one of the new smilies).
I got heaps done today, cleaning, had my cousin over (even managed to cook us lunch, including dessert), visited in laws, cooked dinner and put some of our **** on ebay (finally) -- Coen had a two hour nap today :smiliedance: -- this is unheard of in our household!!!
Have a good night everyone -- gonna try for a single feed again tonight... :fingerscrossed:
We posted at the same time Tanya!!! Hope everyone in your house gets well soon too!!!:hugs:
Hels love the pic of R hes a cute kid!
Mon :fingerscrossed: it isnt mastitis, that would really suck. Ive had it a few times and it played havoc with my milk supply im sure you dont want to hear that..... But i am glad to hear that solids seem to be going well for you, thats good news. Hopefully Liam starts to put on some weight
My only suggestion is that if it is mastitis get some antibiotics as soon as you can, dont suffer with the pain as it isnt worth it! And as hard as it is, i know Liam isnt cooperating, try and get him to feed off the sore side as it may help. Good luck anyway, mastitis sucks...
Tanya i have PM'ed you
Sandy thanks for the compliment about Cassi, love her, shes my spunk... lol. Glad to see that im not the only one that managed to get some cleaning done!! I cleant my whole house today and feel better for it!! Shame it was messy again 5 minutes after DP got home :banghead:
anyway, hope everyone has a good weekend, pretty quiet in here so obviously you guys are all out having a good time!!
It is very quiet in here... with Penny and Hels keeping low profiles and Lauren away on holidays.... we just don't know ourselves... on the plus side it makes it easier to keep up with the thread!!!
How you doing this morning Mon?
Guess what??? I have some big news.....
Coen slept through the whole night!!! I expect it was just a fluke but do you know how amazing it was to wake up at 7.15am and to realise DH had taken our bub out of the room cos he was being a bit rowdy??? He was making some noises at 4 am but he just started sucking his thumb and that was that!!!
I am not going to expect it to happen again - but it sure would be nice!
Hi all.
Havent posted much as it has been a pretty tough week - this smiley sums it up :snow:.
Sandy - lily went through a period of poor eating and intense distractibily for about a month and then just went back to normal. i think once they discover the world around them they cant concentrate on food. then once they are a bit older they can look/listen to the world and eat at the same time. be reassured that most of the milk apparently comes out in the first 5 minutes anyway. also by now your milk supply is so well estabilished that is shouldnt dry up just becuase he has smaller feeds at times.
good work on the sleeping through and the 2 hour sleep. i am sure that the more sleep he gets in the day the more he will sleep at night.
Juzzy - not a good week - hope you find your wallet. i would be freaking out and have nearly cancelled my cards so many times and then found my wallet just in time. rash looks better - cute chubby wubby leg. lilys rash has settled with paw paw ointment.
MIL vent - MIL looked after lily when i went to work on thursday . they ignore my suggestions and just do what they want. they fed her to sleep with a bottle and then put her in bed and then when she woke up crying half an hour later they said to me that she must be sick!!! when i finally got her home she has only had total and hour and half sleep all day and had turned inconsolable!! took a day to get her back on track. on one hand a feel happy that i know how to handle her and on the other i am pinged off that they can turn by angel into a devil in 4 hours flat.
Have a first birthday party and then harry potter at gold class tonight.
Ooooh Harry Potter Gold Class, l am jealous Sharon, I'd love to hear how you went. I am supposed to be going with my SIL - but we haven't booked as yet - and l don't know that she is that keen... perhaps l should just make other plans....
I'm Back......
Here's my catch up post
lauren- before we left i took a pic of of him in his top to show you what a boofer he is in a size 0! im sure youll have to get size 1 for summer! and thanks again for shopping for me!
What a spunk! He looks like he should have a guitar in his hands in that photo! The shopping was a pleasure...size 1 it is for summer. I'm doing some shopping this week so will see if the new stock has arrived
I think my milk is on the way out. Liam pulls off and cries after 3 or 4 minutes in frustration as there isn't anything coming out
Oh Mon..I hope not. Have you tried the Fenugreek? Maybe you could wake Liam up during the night for extra feeds for a week to see if that will boost your supply.....sounds like a pain I know but could be worth it if you wanted to keep breastfeeding. How's the (.)(.) today? Whenever I get a sore boob I massage it madly, get Jack to feed off it more and use heat packs to get the milk flowing.
Coen slept through the whole night!!!
GO COEN!!! :yelclap: That's fantastic Sandy! How good does it feel?
Jack hasn't done it since so his may have been a fluke too but were down to one wake per night and sometimes he doesn't need a feed so I'm rapt with that.
Havent posted much as it has been a pretty tough week
:hugs: How are you feeling today? Enjoy Harry Potter!
Hope everyone else is going well :) I'll be back after tea to post about our trip...my pizza is calling!

Evening all,
Hope everyones weekend is going well.
Love looking at everyones photos. Gosh all the bubbas in feb are just gorgeous! I love this age.
Not into the newborn stage, to bad we cant just start from this age :D
Well Billy is also waking for 1 or 2 bottles a night, mostly just one and alot of getting up to shove his dummy back in :banghead:
Took this photo the other day, http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j262/mumslilspunk/Newtatt008.jpg
Gee i wonder who the boys look like....lol
Well going to have a nice hot bath and a few beers so might pop back later if not hope you lovely ladies have a wonderful night.
Our trip away was fab! The house we rented was absolutely amazing....3 storey and over looking the water with private access to the beach :D We're so broke now but it was worth it. Would love to go back in summer (might have to win tattslotto first..lol)
Here's a pic of me and Jack on the deck

This is the view from our bedroom! WOW!
http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u299/lmenz/IMG_0109.jpg
DH goes back to work on Wednesday. I've really gotten used to having the extra help and I think Jack has really enjoyed having him around a bit more. Will be sad to see him go back :crying:
Sandy - Jack is still getting distracted when feeding. I fed him in the car a lot while we were away and I had to get DH to leave while I was doing it as Jack just stared at him. I hope it ends soon. It's driving me bonkers too. Maybe try stretching Coen's feeds out...it's working with Jack. He went 5 hours (his choice) between feeds today and then had a massive feed when we got home. My only worry is that he'll be looking for the extra food at night as he's not that interested during the day....I bl**dy hope not!
couldnt find my wallet at all after tearing apart my place, our cars (we have four, so it took awhile...) and DPs parents. So spent about an hour speaking to vicroads, the bank and medicare arranging to get new cards sent out to me. Anything else? LOL i had brain drain after that and couldnt think of anything.
Cassidy been quite good today, has learn how to blow raspberries and she thinks its totally hilarious!
DP and i had an argument about solids today, he wants me to hold off until shes 6 months (so another month as shes 5 months on Monday). I think she is ready for them and he doesnt. He said i dont know what i am doing and he does as he helped with all his 2 brothers and sister and they didnt start until 6 months. My argument was that she is showing all the signs of wanting more and what i have given her she really enjoys. So it was a bit like this :banghead: here today.
Has anyone else had this argument with their partners?
Welcome back lauren! Hope your trip was good!

We weighed R today and he's 8.1 kgs at 5 1/2 months old... what a boofa!
Great photos Ren and Lauren  The beach and house looked lovely.
I made my first sale today thru my business :smiliedance:
We also went shopping and I got my wedding rings back (I had them re-sized) so it's great to wear them again. I had to take them off at 25 weeks PG and haven't worn them since
Reece has changed his mind about solids, he cries when I put the farex in his mouth and spits it out. I added some fruit today but it was also a no-goer. I will try giving it to him at a different time of day or try fruit alone. Any other ideas?
Otherwise I might hold off for a few more weeks and then try again.

As for Billy feeding he's like one of those clowns at a circus where you have to pop a ball in their mouths while moving, Its so annoying:banghead:
Hels, Billy is interested either. i just try every couple of days.
Juzzy, My hubby doesnt say much when it comes to the boys coz im the one that gets up to them during the night and i ALWAYS remind him of that . Then i say well you start getting up to them and ill do it 'your' way but until then im doing it lol
Lauren, awesome view! love Jacks top too.

Hi Everyone,
We are new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself and say HI!! I am married and have 3 beautiful children and a stepson. My LO is Isabella and she was born on the 11th of Feb. She is a great baby and is gorgeous and would love to share all her achievements and daily goings on with you all as well as hear all about your LO's. Going by the photo's that you all have on your posts, they are all gorgeous bub's and we are all very blessed!! Hope to keep in touch and chat soon.:)
Nikki
:wave:Bellas mum- welcome!! Hope you like it here! It might seem like we all know each other really well.....well we do...sort of...BUT please feel free to jump right in there! New members are very welcome!!!! Looking forward to chatting to you more! Im Tanya, i have 4 kids, Cooper 6, Riley 4, Baylee-Rose 2 and Cody-Rose 5mths.
Juzzy- you do realise, dont you, that now you have gone about replacing all your cards that you will find your wallet? Its called Murphy's law lol.
Oh and on the solids thing...nope never had an issue...i have just "fed" the kids and said.. "oh, so and so had 4 whole spoons of whatever today":devil6:
Lauren- your trip sounds great! The view looks awesome!
Ren- geez, those boys of yours dont half look like their dad do they? Holy hell! Well there's no doubts there now is there:laughing:
Hels- congrats on the sale!! Wow! 8kgs!!
Cody weighs in at a tiny little 5.95 kgs! How funny...most of her clothes are still 000.
ziggy- yeah. the MIL thing will p!ss you off for eternity mate. Mine does some things that make me wanna scream at her...but i just try (and its hard) to think that she has the kids best interests at heart. Thats the only thing that stops me from strangling her sometimes!LOL. Hope she starts to listen to you soon...however....dont hold your breath...they know everything...dont you know that:rolleyes:
harley- congrats on the sleep last night! Fingers crossed for a repeat performance!
Heather! Where are you?????????!!!!!
I had to work today...was my saving grace! I think that if these kids of mine dont get better soon, im going to go nuts! Its been the fortnight from hell here........my kids NEVER get sick but this winter for some reason they have had these shocking flu's going around! Makes me want to put them all in a bubble!
Does anyone with older kids (or those that know of anyone else) give their kids vitamin supplements? Do they work and do you think they are worth the money????
Welcome back Lauren!!! the photos are great and the view just looks amazing - I spent this afternoon looking at places for our little trip, where did you find your place listed? We've found a few places but we would like an open fire place...
Oh and l started trying to stretch Coen's feeds out to help with the distractedness, he did it without noticing yesterday 3 1/2 - 4 hours each time; today it was 3 1/2 hours - l think he does feed a bit better, will try and keep him consistent at 3 1/2 hours and then maybe step it up another notch -- he is still only eating for 5-10 minutes, but sucking like there is no tomorrow - so l guess he is getting all that he needs???
Hi Everyone, Welcome Nikki, my name is Sandy, l have just the one - and right now he is enough - he is very cute though, a bit of a boofer really weighing in 7.4 at 4 months!
GO REECE!!! (on the weight gain) - not on the refusing of solids!!!
Oh that reminds me, l think Coen is becoming more interested in real food - he is avidly watching us eat these days, will grab my hand if l have something l am putting in my mouth (like my cup of tea the other day ) and two nights ago l was trying to get the last of the infants friend out of the bottle (yes l hadn't replaced it) so l poured it in a medicine cup and was going to try and feed it to Coen.... well when l got it near his face, he grabbed my hand and shoved it in his mouth... it was down the pipe with no spills in a matter of seconds - l was blown away (it made me laugh...)
Juzzy - what a bugger about your wallet, don't forget the video cards (if you have any)
Hope you enjoyed your night out Sharon... you deserve it!
:fingerscrossed: for a good night for us all

Hi Nikki... Welcome aboard! What is the abbreviation LO? I haven't heard/seen it before. Loveable Offspring?
Juz - You have four cars??! I was going to say that I hope you find your wallet, but now that you've cancelled your cards I guess it will be annoying if you find it. You'll probably have to call a few places to get new cards, such as Ambulance or RACV. Maybe have a think about what you had in your wallet.
Hels - Congrats on your first sale. Sorry I haven't got back to you about checking over your website. Will do it straight after this post. Promise!
Lauren - Great holiday pics... looks like that house was amazing! Judging from the pics I'm guessing it was really cold and windy... did the house have an open fire to cuddle up in front of?
Sandy - My bf advice might not be worth much these days, but I found that Liam was feeding better when he started going longer between feeds. I guess it is like us really... we can sit around distractedly chatting all day and nibble on food throughout, or we can eagerly await the next meal, heartily chow down, and then relax contentedly. Just a theory!
Sharon - Hope you are enjoying the Gold Glass experience. It's been a while since I've seen a movie now. We've got Foxtel at home so there are lots of movies showing that I haven't seen.
Ren - It might be different because Liam is my first child, but because I don't know any different I feel that every stage so far is the best stage... and I don't want him to grow any older because it might not be as good as this stage. But I haven't been disappointed yet! Looking back, I guess Day 2 wasn't his most flattering... giant bruises on his head from the forceps and his arm in a sling... but I still thought that Day 2 was better than Day 1!
Tanya - Sorry to hear everyone in your household is sick. So, are you considering putting them all in separate bubbles or one big bubble??!
Us - I'm feeling a lot better today. Still have a bit of a headache but nothing like yesterday. Boob is still sore, but no worse than it was. Feels like one section is very tender, like a bruise feels. I'm trying to massage it, just to keep stuff moving in there.
Liam is still loving his solids. He screws his face up though if I have mixed it with rice cereal, so it is definitely the farex he doesn't like. I'm still going to give him some though... just a little mixed with the fruit or veggies.
I'm feeling really bad tonight. I had the laptop plugged in so it didn't run the battery flat, and DH and I decided to watch an episode of Scrubs (thanks for the DVD lend Penny... we're really enjoying it!). Stupid me put the laptop down on a pile of papers then tripped over the cord and pulled the whole thing onto the ground. I completely mangled the charger plug, but luckily we had a spare one. Also managed to make a big dent in the corner of the laptop. DH has already told me heaps of times that I should be careful where I place the laptop, so I didn't get a lecture... just the "I told you so" look. I think that's worse. :(
I'd be really lost without my laptop. DH has the office set up to his liking with the main computer, but he is very technically minded and I just don't feel comfortable with his computer. It is forever popping up messages, such as asking me if I want to change all the keychains permanently, and it won't let you continue until you click either yes or no. Our computers are networked together though, so mine is really just a little side kick to his. Mine is way cuter though. His name is Ernie. :D
Have decided to stick with bf Liam without comping with formula until at least Friday, as that's when we have our 6 month appointment with the MCHN. I'm making sure that he has 5 feeds in 24 hours, plus 3 feeds of solids. I can't decide what food he should try next. There are so many choices for him! At the moment he is having farex (bleeeech!), apples and pumpkin. Was thinking of potatoes next. Then maybe some custard, and then move into the green veggies. I'm giving him four days between new foods.
What is the new baby dust smiley supposed to be used for? Is it a euphemism for sex? "We want a baby so excuse us while we go and :babydust2: "
Geez this has ended up as a really long post. I probably should have broken it into two smaller posts as I am all out of my smiley quota. Congratulations if you managed to read through it all. I tried to put peoples names in bold so they can just skip to the parts about them. *big cheesy grin*
Juzzy... what a pain that you haven't been able to find your purse. It's such an inconvenience to have to cancel cards.
Hels - Cute photo of Reece in his fluffy suit. I think K has the same outfit though he hasn't worn it yet.
Roopee - Hope the kids get better soon. Oh, and thanks for the suggestions about formula tins. re:vitamins... everything I have ever read has said that if your kids are getting an adequate diet, then vitamin supplements are completely unnecesary (and can even be dangerous). I would probably save your money.
Ziggy - Hope you have a better week and that you have fun at the movies tonight (I think I must be the only person in the world who wants nothing to do with Harry Potter)
Lauren - Welcome back from your little trip... it looked absolutely lovely... so very jealous right now !! ;)
Bellas Mum - Welcome to our humble home !! Please make yourself comfortable and jump right in. I'm Penny and I have only one bubba named Kaelan. He was originally due on Feb 14th.. but arrived (by force) at the end of January instead. I've stayed in the Feb group because I've been here since the day I got my BFP. They can't get rid of me that easily !! :D
Us - DF and I went to Northland and bought another stroller (that now makes three). We already had a light-weight Bertini stroller which we've been transferring between cars.. plus we also have a Childcare "Trio" three-wheeler which has the bassinette and toddler seat attachment... unfortunately, the Trio is also exceptionally heavy which is no good for me with a bad back and a precarious pelvic floor... so trying to get it in and out of my car boot was almost impossible for me.
Several times this week, I've accidentally left the Bertini stroller in DF's car when he has gone to work... so I've effectively been stuck at home with Kaelan and unable to go out (because of said weight issue with the Trio stroller). So today I decided to rectify this problem by buying another lightweight stroller that will permanently stay in the boot of my car.
After looking in KMart, Baby Target and Toys R Us, I decided to buy the Valco "Navigator"... it's a very light three-wheeler with a fully-adjustable backrest and has a tray on the handle for drinks (yay !!). It was on special for $129 (normally $169) and I think it will do the job fine. I did also consider a McClaren stroller (which was lighter again)... but it tipped up backwards when we tested it out with the nappy bag on it. Not a good look if your baby is lying horizontally on the floor in the pram !! :D
I tried K with some mashed pumpkin today but he was pushing it out with his tongue so I've definately decided now to hold off for two more weeks (when he will be six months) before trying again... Even though he is absolutely obsessed with us eating and drinking... he is obviously trying to tell me that he isn't quite ready to eat himself yet. I've come to the realisation that I can't force this upon him... he will do this in his own time.
Only two more sleeps to go before DF goes into hospital on Monday for surgery (he's having his sinuses drained and some cartilage repaired). He's trying to be brave about it, but I can tell that he is a little nervous about having an op (he's never been in hospital before). I've been joking around with him, saying that if something happens to him that I want his sperm. Why should his passing affect my ability to have another child?? *LOL*
To be honest though... I almost feel like being a b!tch to him and just leaving him alone in hospital as a payback for how he abandoned me when I was admitted to have Kaelan. He literally dropped me off at Emergency for admission (I was being induced) then went to the pub (admittedly, he went home soon after he got to the pub... I think the guilt got to him). I didn't see him again until 12pm the next day after already having been in active labour for several hours... I was NOT impressed. To make matters worse.. in the days that followed my caesar... he barely showed up at all (I was lucky if I saw him an hour a day). I'd endured a long and painful labour, underwent major surgery... my newborn son was then located two floors below me in Special Care for the first two days... and yet my fiance could barely be bothered to make an appearance.
Yes, I still have issues about this :)
For the record, DF *IS* a good father to Kaelan and does help me out now when he can (he is gone with work a lot though)... so he's not all bad *LOL*
Ok.. I think I've written way too much... I'm going to bed.
morning gals, wow some whopper posts - but fun reading!
We had another all nighter last night (that is all night of sleep) - so was pretty happy this morning when l woke at 6.40am to a baby that was fussing a little cos he was a bit hungry - my (.)(.) were hard as rocks, given he only took one side l had to go and express the other -- but that still beats waking up for a feed during the night!
My little munchkin is being a bit painful this morning though - he won't go down for his morning nap - he is now 1 1/2 overdue!!! And just cries when we try and put him down -- l have visitors coming over to see him for the first time and he is going to be in one sh!t of a mood if he hasn't had a nap!
:fingerscrossed: go down Coen ppppppllllllllllllllllllease!
Have a great day gals!
He is asleep :smiliedance:my guests are late, l am hungry (they were supposed to be here for breakfast) and the pancakes, scones and fresh bread are all getting cold!
Harry potter was good fun. the movie was good but i am looking foward to the last book more (countdown to next saturday - LOL). it was good to get out with dh and we both managed to stay awake the whole movie.
we nearly ran late as after the bday party we didnt get home till 6pm and then did quick solids and baby bath. unfortunately lily took this opportunity to have her first swimming in poo bath (it was a whopper) so then i had to have a shower to clean it all off her. it is amazing that when it comes out in the bath it comes in a pretty spiral shape. LOL. (sorry tmi).
i think lily had another growth spurt this week (maybe the 6 month one a few weeks early). she fed about 8 times a day for 3 days and now she has dropped back to 4-5 times.
her routine is a bit out of whack at the moment as she has her last bf at about 430 (huge one) and then solids and wont bf again before she goes to bed. and i dont want to bf at night again - sticking to formula for the dream feed. i think i will try solids first this arvo and see if that helps as my boobs are getting so sore.
I think LO means Little one.
Bellas mum - a notice you are in brisbane. we have feb mums all over and often meet up. where are you?
Still no sign of the wallet so i am guessing that it is gone for good. Going to be a long few weeks without my bank cards and licence. Too scared to go driving cause if they ask me for it i cant hand it over!! lol, never been pulled over for that before but gauranteed now that i dont have it i will be!!
yeah i ave decided i am going to stand my ground about solids. Tan your right, i just casually mention it. Or not mention it at all :devil6: Geez when he starts doing everything for Cassidy then he can have an opinion.
Shouldnt really be bagging him out, hes sitting on the couch with her in his arms at the moment cause shes asleep. Been there for an hour already....
Mon id be lost without my laptop as well. I love it so much. lol. I have done that with a laptop as well, i tripped over the power cord with so much force that i ripped it out the back of the laptop and then the plug thing was damaged and unusable..... DP wasnt happy. Needless to say i am more careful now. Ive had that lecture as well.... My DP is a serious computer nerd as well (runs his own business and everything...) so we have all the gear as well.
As for you trying solids with Liam. Try sweet potato, ive found that Cassidy loves it hopefully liam feels the same lol
Penny lol i would have been so annoyed if that was me.... id go and be the good partner and sit by his bedside in his time of need.... and then just randomly bring up what he did to you... guilt will get you everywhere :devil6:
bellas mum Welcome to the Fab Feb Mummas!! My name is Justine and i have one bubba, her name is Cassidy she was due on the 5th Feb but was born on the 16th.
I must go.... DP is taking his younger sister to the movies to see Harry Potter this afternoon. Meanwhile she has already seen it three times..... I am staying here and looking after DPs nephew.... hmmmm great... an afternoon of kids movies!! lol
Juzzy you seem to babysit quite often -- that is very very good of you!
my little man slept for more than 2 hours before and almost completely missed our guests - l felt bad cos they came to see him - and their daughter (1 1/2) was so excited to see "the baby"... but there was no way l was going to wake him - and they fully appreciated that! Its funny would you believe l miss him when he sleeps for two hours? I almost don't know what to do with myself (note the almost - believe l find plenty to do - mostly anything to avoid cleaning).
Well that will be my little man now waking from another nap so had better head off...

Penny - Welcome to the "3 stroller club" I decided to keep my 3 wheeler as we bought a toddler seat for it from eBay, really cheap. But that pram won't be used unless we have another bub.
I keep our lightweight stroller in the boot of the car and only use the Strider in the house, or if we will be out all day.
DH is about to try Reece with some pureed fruit, I haven't given him any farex today. This morning R woke at about 8.30am. He had his milk and wouldn't settle back in his cot. So I put him in our bed with DH (who wanted a sleep in). Well, I ended up going in there at 1.30pm to wake them both! I think they would have slept for the whole day otherwise, and then been up all night
I've finally got around to posting the professional photos we had taken recently. This is a large canvas with several photos on it CLICK HERE (http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i60/Hels-b/Reece/ProfessionalPhotos.jpg)
my little man slept for more than 2 hours
OMG.....Sandy you must be so rapt! Sounds like that new book is working wonders. I think I may need to borrow it. BTW Cotton On Kids at Highpoint has the ABCD tops (2 for $20 or $14.95 each) I think they had white and pale blue
Hels - Lovely pics! Are you happy with them?
Kay - I've done Eli's summer shopping today. I got 5 t-shirts for $50. I'll send them off tomorrow for you :)
US - We've had a great day. Been out to Highpoint for some shopping. I bought Jack some new tops from Cotton On (one says mmmm...boobies  ) as well as a few sleep suits (size 0) to get us through winter. We tried apple this morning and this is what happened when it ran out

I think I may have to up his quantities.....little piggy!
Those photos of Reece are gorgeous! And the ones of Jack cracked me up!!!
Thanks for the tip on Cotton on Kids Lauren - will head down there
Mon...I forgot to say before that I bought some apple and pear farax from Coles a while ago. Maybe Liam would like that better than the plain flavor one? Just a thought :)
Oh poor jack. i think he wants his pork chop not just the apple sause.
my left boob has gone all hard and lily couldnt clear it so i have done the heat and massage thing and now i have a date with the pump.
this really annoys me as we had a celebration that i wouldnt have to pump again until next baby and even took photoes of me putting away the extension cord!!
oh well - better to pump than end up with mastitis i suppose.
Sandy - We found the house we stayed in by Googling Port Fairy+Accomadation.
Where are you thinking of going?
Oh poor jack. i think he wants his pork chop not just the apple sause.
PMSL  Your not far from it Sharon.....10 minutes after his farax tonight he was opening his mouth as I was drinking my cup a soup.
He's really taken to the solids. I'm glad, it's so much fun feeding him and it's a good time killer too.
I don't envy you on the expressing.....hope it clears for you

Hi girls,
Hels - love the professional photos. OMG I can't believe how long your DH and Reece slept for! Liam would never sleep that long during the day, even if we snuggled in bed with him.
Sandy - glad to hear things are going well with Coen and his sleeping! Sometimes you just have to try different things and routines to see what works.
Sounds like most of you are doing well with introducing solids......I'm yet to try this with Liam. He's still happy having 5 bottle feeds per day and seems interested in food......he watches me eat but hasn't really shown signs yet of needing solids so I'm going to wait for another month until he's closer to 6 months.
It's been a long week for me. DH and I were not getting along well at all.......it's been very stressful and depressing but things have improved now and we are going away for a couple of days (taking Liam and the dog of course) so that should be relaxing.
Oh boy i have a lot of catching up to do.
Have had a read and will reply tomorrow. Might have to spread it over a few posts. Hope i am not too late for relevance.
If you remember last time i checked in we were heading to hospital, that was Wednesday.
Well we came home yesterday (Saturday).
Elly is improving but was hard to see her so sick.
Tired as hell, Have spent most of the weekend preparing for a court case we have coming up in August for a redundancy issue from our last job...ahhh the b**ls**t.
Hugs to all, see ya soon, tomorrow hopefully.
I really hope i remember tomorrow what I wanted to say today!!

 Helloooooo! We're back!
Had a fantastic time in the UK catching up with everyone. We had such a busy time - Eloise has been passed around all of her family and just loved being doted on. She even managed the flights OK. It was so lovely to see her with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. It makes me realise what we are missing out on.
We got back on Saturday morning - slept all day Saturday and most of the night! Yesterday was a complete write-off too - spent the day cleaning and washing clothes. I still feel like a complete zombie!! Eloise has a virus and jet-lag so she is an absolute horror in the sleep department at the moment. Last night she was awake for 2 hours at 1 then 2 hours from 4  . I've decided to give her a week or two to get better and get over the jetlag before I introduce solids. Poor thing is so snuffly she can hardly breathe through her nose. She is also being sick and is getting through nappies at a very fast rate :barf: . Doesn't look like there will be any improvement in the sleep department for us any time soon. Ironically she slept so well in the UK (only one wake up a night - miraculous for us!) but it looks like that won't happen again for a long time *sigh*
I've got loads of photos to share, so I'll get round to posting some soon. Got heaps of catching up to do when we both feel better.
Its good to be back :D
hi everyone.
im pram hunting..any ideas?? something light and small but not to fold like 'umbrella style' (3 carseat straps in the cars)
im thinking that fantastic pram i got to push at the baby show (((was it cates??))) steelcraft strider i think
or the quinny buzz.
anyone got some free time to help me out. i dont want to travel to buy it i want it posted (lazy fruck i know :P)
I'll help ya..lazy ***!
I have a Valco Urban Ultra light as my little push one.
Its super light and stylish!!! Cost about $180 (but i paid $89).
It folds flat not like an umbrella one if that helps.
I've heard that the Steelcraft Strider is a good one!
Afternoon..
I've just got back from Mother's Group..I went babyless again. It was boring today  All the other mums are older than me...I'm the youngest at 28! Oh well...maybe next week will be better
DH has just taken Jackie for a walk.....I tried him on farax mixed with apple this morning and he wasn't that keen. He seems to like just the plain old wet cardboard.
Here's some pics of Jack in his new top...I think it suits him :D

Welcome Back Hannah  Glad to hear you got some sleep while away....Hopefully things will improve once Eloise is back to Aussie time
Catch you all a bit later on...I'm so tired these days. Can't seem to catch up on the sleep!!!
kay Hels has a steelcraft strider (i want one, have been working on DP for ages... i think ill just randomly go and buy one) it looks great.
Welcome back Hannah! Sounds like your trip was a blast!
Welcome back Hannah!!! I hope Eloise feels better soon, can't wait to see the photos!!!
Sandy - We found the house we stayed in by Googling Port Fairy+Accomadation.
Where are you thinking of going?
We were thinking Warrnambool or Grampians - but had considered Port Fairy too... now that l see that great house you guys got, perhaps Port Fairy might be a goer... I tried googling for Warrnambool and The grampians, l found a few places, but none that really hit the spot yet! great top on Jack by the way!!! Love it - l so want to go get some stuff from Cotton on Kids, but l just unpacked Coen's bigger clothes, and he has soooooo many clothes -- Darrin was saying he has better T-Shirts than him... the problem is l can count on my fingers how many articles of clothing l have bought Coen - and of the ones currently his drawers (the ones he has grown out of yet) - there would be lucky to be 2 -3 pieces... everybody keeps buying him things --- which is sooooo lovely of them -- but l would like some say in the way he dresses too  But it is hard to justify buying him new clothes (that l want) when he has soooo many brand new clothes that he probably won't even get to wear them once!!!
I know l am being a spoilt brat... l am very grateful to everyone but... you know!!!
Jo - i hope you are DH are getting along better... nothing like a holiday though... DH are about to embark on one too!!
Marianne - glad to hear Elly is out of hospital... its sounds like you have had a really horrible time of it!!! :hugs:
Coen has been absolutely wonderful today... l think l may have been sufferring from some very mild depression - cos the last few days l have been a completely different person, more energy, loving my time with Coen - who knows - hope it continues... it might just be the extra sleep!!! (mine and his)
Oh Lauren - you can borrow that book - if you like l will bring it with me on Thursday!

Hi Ladies
Just a quick one to say Hello while I get a spare second - I have been MIA again sorry. Been exhausted trying to get Connor's reflux under control. He is on Zantac and it doesn't seem to make any difference though. Solids are going well for us though... he LOVES food (just like his mumma!) and is eating pears, avocado and baby cereal well.
Had a fantastic weekend. It was my 28th birthday on Friday and mum and Dad had Connor for the night and DH and I went for a lovely 5 course degustation at a really fab restaurant in the city. Had a boozy night and DH organised a spa suite for us in a nice hotel... It was so nice to feel like a normal person who goes out of the house and further than the supermarket!!:smiliedance:
Hope everyone else is well. Sorry I will try to keep up from now on and will try to make it to chat tomorrow night.
Jen
Happy Birthday Jen! Sounds like it was magic!
hi everyone. jen WB and happy birthday,
ive had a cr@p day. cr@p week really.
eli has been very, very sick. took him to the DR today to get his chest looked at. all clear. hhhm doesnt sound that way at night. we are running on empty now- dp working all day and im not getting any rest from sick bubby all day so we are both tired at night and dispute who needs to go to bed early! and having to get up to him 5-8 times we both need to sleep but someone has to stay up and do dinner bath homeowrk bed with the others!
last night we ended up with ds1 in our bed when he came in to get away from elis crying. we then put him back to bed and kept eli in our room. i think i got an hour block of sleep one time the rest was broken.
tan- hows your sick bunch going.

Jen
Oh i so want your Friday night. Glad to hear you had a fantastic time. Instyle too.
Sandy: Wouldn't say horrible but has been flat out for a week or so.
Prams: i just wish when i bought a 3 wheeler for Mia that we knew we couldn't get a toddler seat for it. Well in saying that they actually took them off the market!!!
Well.....we had Elly is hospital for 4 days and she seems to have turned the corner. Hard to see such a little one sick and not able to really do anything for her. I stayed there every night and now need a chiro from the bed i slept on.
10 things I learnt about hospital and nurses. No offence to anyone intended.
1) they are noisy..ALL day
2) the beds suck
3) the blankets are nothing like your own quilt
4) the volunter ladies in the kiosk are fantastic
5) why do nurses talk and entertain a sick child at three in the morning when they are meant to be sleeping!!! "oh your just georgous, look at tha smile, here have a really noisy toy"...arrghhhh!!
6) doctors and Peads all have a different opinion
7) learn to bite your tongue when there is an out of control undiciplined child. (I did)
8) dry cold toast is not a good way to start the day
9) you can't drink enough water
10) you really do feel like a number
Ok i said no offence, this was just my experience. We came home with a child who was better than when she went in but they did nothing for her that we couldn't have done at home. Just precausion i guess. When breathing and wheezing is an issue what else can you do.
Solids: Elly was back on them today and ate her way through pumpkin for lunch and pears for tea. I think you can only truely gauge on an individual level where they should be at and where they want to be at. I just no i am more relaxed this time around yet allowing for neccessary precausions.
That will do for now don't want to overload.
Kay: This sounds like Elly she ended up with a rattle and a wheeze and that's when we went to hospital. In saying that, here the Peads. reckon at that age oxygen does not eliviate anything. As long as it is not a bacterial thing it will run it's course.
i have a question... if you child was really sick in hospital, being feed by a tube, hooked up to oxygen and obviously not well would you stay with them??
I hate to be judgemental, and you never know another families situation so i guess i should not be critical. BUT!!! i found it heart breaking that this little fella was by himself for 23 hours of the day.
PS: anyone want a three yeard old!!
Blubber - Good to hear that Elly is on the mend. Must be nice to have her home again...
Welcome back Hannah !! Glad to hear you had a safe journey. I can totally relate to the jet-lagged baby thing... oh boy, did it test my patience for the first couple of weeks... but once K got his days and nights sorted out again, he started sleeping through the night... and has done so ever since (maybe Eloise will do the same !! *LOL*)
Lauren - Loving Jack's T-Shirt !!! So very cool.. Unfortunately, K isn't worthy to wear one of those.
im pram hunting..any ideas?? something light and small but not to fold like 'umbrella style' (3 carseat straps in the cars)
This is the pram that I bought on Sunday ( Valco Navigator (http://www.babyzonedirect.com.au/catalogue/c11/c19/c89/p2471) ). I used it all day today and it was great. I got it on special from Toys R Us for $129 instead of $169.
Squiggles - happybirthday for last Friday !! Hope to see you around a bit more !!
Us - Well, it's been a very long day for us !! Got up at 5am... was at the Eye and Ear Hospital for DF's surgery by 7am. I got home again after 4pm (DF is still in hospital for the night).. and yet Kaelan refuses to go to sleep.. little bugger !! I'm dead tired.. and would love nothing more than for my darling boy to close his beautiful little eyes and go to sleep for the night :D
K was very well behaved today and was loved by all the nursing and medical staff at the hospital. At one point, he started to get a little grizzly so one of the theatre nurses gave him a red theatre hat to wear (red is his favourite colour right now). He was completely fascinated by the hat and it kept him quiet long enough so that I could make him up a bottle.
Of course everything that we do is pretty much a photo-op these days  ... but being as I left my camera at home... I took a couple of photos of K with the camera on my mobile :)
Me holding Kaelan just after he was given the hat (http://www.penny-clark.com/temp/daddy_op3.jpg)
Close up of K's gorgeous face and his hat (http://www.penny-clark.com/temp/daddy_op1.jpg)
Daddy and Kaelan compare hats just before daddy's surgery (http://www.penny-clark.com/temp/daddy_op2.jpg)
10 things I learnt about hospital and nurses. No offence to anyone intended.

10) you really do feel like a number
As a nurse myself.. well... no offence taken !! Infact, I could probably add to your list  :D
Hannah- welcome back! Sounds like you had a great time! Cant wait to see the pics!!
Marianne- what a horrible few days you have ad. I went thru the same thing a few years back when my DS2 was in for bronchiolitis-heart breaking isnt it.
Yes- i would be staying with my child!!!! Where the hell were his parent? How old was this little man? (not relevant...i am curious though)
I'll take your 3 yr old mate....as long as she is well! I couldnt handle another sick one atm.
Penny- hope your DH cope ok with the pain lol! Going to visit in the morning? Or you going to leave him to his own devices lol.
Jen-happybirthday and a huge welcome back to you! Your night away sounds like my idea of heaven!!
Kay- so sorry to hear Eli isnt well. Poor little mite! Try raising his cot and see if that helps him and his breathing at all.
You do not want to know how it is here! but i am going to tell you anyway!!
us- well what an absolute sh!t 3 weeks it has been here!
First Cody was really sick there for a while and now we have Baylee and Riley down with it too! Riley is on the mend as is Cooper..Baylee however is not. High temps, cold and flu type stuff.
I looked at Cody today and thought hmmmm, your eyes ar a bit glassy and you dont look well...took her temp nd it was 39.8!!
I honestly dont know how much more i can take here! For 3 weeks i have had 4 kids ill.
I am sick of being up nearly all night while Dh gets to sleep..then he whinges about how tired he is!
I now also have the flu too so i feel like sh!t and my patients level is running low.
The kids just manage to get better and then they get it all over again! My kids are not sick kids, they rarely get sick at all but this winter has done it for us!
I've rambled long enough!:o
Tanya: man i have been struggling with 2 sick kids. By the way the three year old is better so i will mail her to you!!
That temp. thing sure is scary, Mia (the 3 yr old) had it at 39.4 and i had never experinced it before. She looked so drunk and ready to pass out i rang the doctors again. She had been there 4 hours before hand. He suggested nurofen as well as panadol...now for a child that will self administer medication it was the one thing she would not take..mm..thank fully it came down and the antibiotics helped her recover over this past week.
The Sick Child: well he was 10 months old and had been in hospital for 8 days. The other nurses would not elaberate, (confidentiality) but he had and was pretty sick The parents well they seemed to wander in for about 45 minutes then leave again. He would still be awake, and they would leave. I just felt sick! As i said i do not like to judge but i thought it appaling.
The visions i have now still bring tears to my eyes.
We are here with no support group and DH still having to work and we managed. Well we just did it!!
The nurses even had to ring the parents to bring more formula to feed the poor fella.
Ok hope that doesn't upset anyone too much. It was just something that amazed me and thought this being bubhub was something i would share.
I even questioned the fact that i didn't leave Elly at all. I felt bad if i went for a quick walk outside or went to fill my water bottle up.....with rum!!! no not really.
OMG:eek: I knoww e shouldn't judge but that poor little boy.
Thats extremely sad!
Oh..i'll pm you that address now...i wouldn't even notice one more:laughing:
Penny- hope your DH cope ok with the pain lol! Going to visit in the morning? Or you going to leave him to his own devices lol.
Actually, I must give DF his credit... he is very good with pain (and being sick etc). He's not one of those whiney guys who acts like the earth is about to end because he is sick. He's probably better than me even !! :D
Today when I went up to ward to see him after his surgery.. he had literally been in the ward for two minutes after being wheeled up from recovery. As I walked into the room, I could see that he was getting his PSP (Playstation Portable) ready for use... unbelievable !!! He's not even settled into the ward properly (and has only just woken up from a general anaesthetic) and he's already trying to play computer games !! Now that's what I call a die-hard gamer !! (let me just remind you all now that my DF is a *40* year old man...anyone would think he was 17 !!).
I will be going in to see him in the morning because I have to go in to pick him up to bring him home. He's had quite a lot of bleeding from his nose tonight.. so hopefully that will settle down before he comes home. Just because Im a nurse doesn't mean I want to get stuck with a live-in patient at home... I already have K to deal with !! :D
well my little angelic sleeper didnt feel like sleeping tonight. She went to bed at 930 and woke up at 330am... She didnt just wake up, she woke up SCREAMING! I have no idea what was wrong with her (no temp, no dirty nappy, wasnt cold...) Took me an hour to feed her and put her back to bed. Just waiting for a few mins before i go back to bed incase she wakes up again.....
Heres me, at 450am, sitting her watching Boston Legal on DVD with a hot milo and the heater roaring. Its so damn cold!
 :snow:
Ill be like this  soon enough

:hugs: to all those with sick bubs. Hope they are all feeling better soon. You must have had quite a scare Blubber - glad Elly is better. How shocking about that little boy too - that amounts to neglect in my opinion. Tanya - I don't envy you - one sick child is plenty for me!
Well, we still had a shocking night as to be expected really with a sick jetlagged baby. However, I think I've made things much worse :banghead: When we were in the UK Eloise slept in several different cots and some mornings I had her in bed with me to feed her. It was so hard to try and settle her at times and I didn't want her to cry too much in other people's houses IFYSWIM. Well, she now will NOT go in her cot. Its a night mare. I really hope she will settle down when she's better and gets the day and night thing, but at the moment OMG!!! Residential sleep school here we come I think! I feel so **** as I think Ive made her like this by co-sleeping and feeding on demand. I actually think its pretty cruel that she can't settle herself at all and I think its time to do something about it before it gets worse. Its funny - my best mate in the UK has a 15 month old who was very similar to Eloise in the sleep department. I see her still struggling with him and think 'must sort this now!'
Must go - madam calls
 Happy Birthday Jen!
BIG :hugs: to all the sick mumma's and bubba's. Hope you all make a speedy recovery.
Penny - Glad to hear your DF is recovering well.....K looked pretty cute in that hat!
Juz - Did you get back to sleep? Hope so.
Sandy - Jacinta stayed at a lovely place in the Grampians recently. I'll find out where it was for you.
We had a good night. Down at 6.30pm woke at 2am for a re-settle and then asleep until 7am. After a feed Jack will normally sleep for another hour but not this morning! I think he had about 15 minutes. I may have to accept the fact that our day will begin at 7am from now on
Better go I'm getting my hair cut today before DH goes back to work
Have a great day Lovely Ladies
oh Kay / Tanya, sounds like you are really doing it tough. Poor Eli, Baylee + everyone else who is sick right now. I hope you all get some sleep and much needed rest soon.
Marianne - it must have broken your heart to see that child there all alone, l cry when l see sick children on tv these days - let alone in real life & with no family around!!!
Thanks Lauren, any recommendations on places to stay would be greatly appreciated.
Penny - how is your patient going?
Love the photos ladies, keep em coming.... will post some myself later -- feeling a bit guilty about being incredibly **** in the photo department lately!!!
Oh - just need to tell you how much l love my little munckin!!!! I thought l would read him a story before l put him down for his nap this morning, during the story we were propped up against my pillows on the bed and Coen turned to me three times for a kiss .... it was sooooooooo cute - l wish somebody had of been filming it - it just about broke my heart... l wanted to grab him and squeeze him so tight -- but l resisted, l just gave him his kisses and put him to bed!!! These babies of our are just too wonderful to imagine - we are soooooo lucky to be mummies!
Oh - just need to tell you how much l love my little munckin!!!! I thought l would read him a story before l put him down for his nap this morning, during the story we were propped up against my pillows on the bed an Coen turned around three times for a kiss .... it was sooooooooo cute - l wish somebody had of been filming it - it just about broke my heart... l wanted to grab him and squeeze him so tight -- but l resisted, l just gave him his kisses and put him to bed!!! These babies of our are just too wonderful to imagine - we are soooooo lucky to be mummies!
That's so lovely Sandy...you are sounding much more upbeat these days
hi everyone.
im pram hunting..any ideas?? something light and small but not to fold like 'umbrella style' (3 carseat straps in the cars)
im thinking that fantastic pram i got to push at the baby show (((was it cates??))) steelcraft strider i think
or the quinny buzz.
anyone got some free time to help me out. i dont want to travel to buy it i want it posted (lazy fruck i know :P)
Hi....yeah it was our steelcraft pram....ours is the Bayamo which i think has been replaced by the Strider! It is great....we love it! Good luck with your hunt and just make sure it fits in the car!
yeah i managed to get back to sleep at about 6am. DP then got up at 730. So i didnt get that much sleep after going back to bed.
Cassidy and i just had a nap on the couch for about an hour. She passed out across my chest for the whole time. Poor thing. Dont think she likes waking up in the middle of the night either.
I think i will be going back to bed this afternoon when she goes down for her afternoon nap. I feel so sluggish and tired.
To those who are still getting up a few times a night... OMG i am in awe and dont know how you do it. You deserve a medal!!!

It's those kind of moments that keep me going... this whole being a mummy thing is hard work but the rewards are so worth it!!
hi everyone-
thanks cate, i thought it was yours. what a fantastic pram, just that little go i had and i wanted one!
thanks penny for the pic.. and tan i couldnt find that valco when i googled- but im thinking its like the pic penny put up. i like that pram a lot but im worried about the 3 wheeler front wheel sticking out the front. they really really hurt when they hit a leg! and i run my kids and dog down as it is! but i looked at that and thought id have some problems getting it under the carseat straps in the boot... i think the smallest id find is the quicksmart and im not keen on that pram at all.
anyways... it came down to the strider and buzz. i got the buzz. the seat comes away from the frame so can go in the boot in two parts and he can face me- they were the winners for me...still a 3 wheeler but seems smaller than some i looked at.
so i should get it friday- its coming from melb. the little peg will now be a spare for dps boot and we will keep the bigger one in the garage for our walks.
eli had a much better night. he only woke twice and then 5am. hes not been so grumpy today either. we took the pup for a walk along the beach to teach him to come back when hes called and to play with a ball. eli slept in the ergo the whole time and is now awake and full of beans!
catch you all in chat tonight.

oh kay that isnt a reference to me and my knack of running you down repeatedly at the baby expo is it?
ha ha sharon! nah not really, well...
no im kidding- ive been run down by 3 wheelers many times!
i just dont want to do it to my kids- its bad enough with the 4 little front wheels my peg has.
the dog cuts in front of me and i keep walking now im so sick of him doing it.
the kids do it all the time to me at the shops, zipping in front of the pram. its hard not to tho, they can hardly all walk in a line next to me, no one would get past. so i just dont want to hit them with a 3 wheeler. ds walked infront of an L plater 3 wheeler pusher and it tripped him up flat on his face.
so yep i have 3 wheeler fears im about to fix or the new pram will be up on ebay in no time!!
i think the front wheel on this pram is 'under' far enough that it shouldnt be too much of a problem.
tan- how do you go with your lot out walking? i know youve got a 3 wheeler-do they zip in front of you?

down near the bottom of that page theres a bucket bath?? i saw one at the babyshow and sat eli in it for ages and he just sat there quietly. wish id seen one while i was pregnant.

Welcome back Hannah!
Belated happybirthday to Jen (friday) and Jo (Saturday)
Kay - I have the strider but I wouldn't recommend it if you want something compact. I would have recommended the steelcraft profile which is our lightweight pram. But I think the Quinny's are great, good choice. The only reasons we didn't buy one was the price and lack of storeage space. I hope your's arrives soon, which colour did you get?
Us - I have been MIA as we have major probs with our broadband :banghead: . I haven't been able to load pages as they come up cancelled. It took me 40 mins just to send PM's to the melb girls this week, (sorry to those who got it twice). I am now on dial-up on the laptop out of desperation! it's slow but at least the pages will load.
Sorry to hear many babies and kids are sick. It's an awful time of year for that. Thankfully we haven't had anything serious here. I put it down to the fact that I take echinacea tablets and I took them throughout my pregnancy (I checked that it was ok first). I think it has helped R to have a good resistance to colds and flu :fingerscrossed:
R still isn't interested in solids. Infact, he's started crying when he sees the bowl and spoon. I tried a few different things but they were a no-goer so I have stopped for now. I'll try him again in a couple of weeks. My sister said her 2 girls weren't interested until 7 mths old, so maybe it's a family trait.
Not much else to report, R sleeps well at night and is doing well all round. The weather is so cold and yucky that we are staying at home for a few days!
Looking forward to catching up with the Melb girls on thursday.
hells -storage is not really something i was looking for. im so used to using the ergo now i just take a tiny trial/sample pack of wet wipes ((or a zip lock bag with a few in it, when ive run out of samples)) and one nappy. i keep the nappy bag in the boot. so i was really just needing something that would fit that but no storage would have been fine too cos that will fit in my handbag...
but this pram does have a bag that buttons/press studs?? onto the back- so i was happy with that. i did get the bag that goes under as well. i think i got a good deal on the price. its from a nice little baby shop in melb.
oh and the pram is green.

Oh dear...Were having the opposite. As soon as Jack goes in the high chair his arms start waving and when he sees the bowl he open's his mouth  Isn't it funny how they are all so different
its from a nice little baby shop in melb. oh and the pram is green.
Ohh.... which one?

I wonder if it's The Baby Gallery
That pram looks funky Kay!!! Let me know how it goes.... do you know by any chance how much it weighs?
I doubt very much that l could convince DH to invest in another pram...
sandy- the pram is 12 kg. which to me is very, very heavy for such a compact pram but i see in my reading that thats because of the gas struts in it (for one touch opening) but im hoping i wont notice it if im putting it in the boot in two parts.
the quinny zapp is much lighter on 6kg i think. but its a toddler stroller so no good for our little bubs. i saw one yesterday at my shops and i didnt like the handles much but looks comfy with toddler in it. its about half the price of the buzz. i think the strider and rad are really great prams, probably my favs. i got the quinny because of the seat...oh and the coulours!!! ((dp is calling me a pram snob))
hels & lauren - not baby gallery its a lil shop in essenden, bump to bub.
well i should not have sat up on live chat til nearly midnight!!my little bugger woke just after i fell asleep and then again at 4am...so im pretty tired but got some work to do so id better have another coffee!

Love the pram too Kay! As both my others are second hand maybe i could justify getting just one more..:)
Here's a couple of pics of my lovely chunky monkey in her summer gear, just to proove it does get slightly warm sometimes in the UK :D

cute pics Hannah!
Kay- my pram says it is 12 kg, it also has a one touch open mechanism.. but i reckon by the time you have the blanket, pouches, covers etc. its closer to 15kg....

That's not far from my house....I went in there the other day
Here's a couple of pics of my lovely chunky monkey in her summer gear
She looks gorgeous! She's changed since the last time I saw her. Love the rolly polly legs!
We tried Pumpkin this morning and it was a big hit. Seems weird giving him vegies for breakfast but I don't think Jack cares as long as he gets food.
He woke a few times last night and when I was thinking about it this morning he only had 4 breastfeeds yesterday - He must have been hungry :o oops!
How many milk feeds is everyone else doing atm?
*Sparkles*

Lauren - Reece has only 4-5 feeds per day and no other food (as he doesn't want it). He sleeps through and seems happy with this. I think that the AR formula is quite filling.
Hannah - Great photos of Eloise, I love the one where she has grabbed her foot, so cute! Is she feeling any better yet?
Penny - Are you coming to the meet tomorrow? Looks like there will only be 4 of us, or 5 if Penny is coming too.
Still have 'puter probs here, the one in the office isn't even working so I am back on dial-up on the laptop  .
I feel miserable and in a bad mood today. I don't think this cold horrible weather helps much. Oh well, maybe I should do some online retail therapy to cheer myself up lol.
Talked to family assistance office yesterday and looks like i am entitled to family tax benefit B. i didnt think i would get it as i thought that when i returned to work later in the year i would go over the threshold.
turns out there is a quarantine period so you get the full amount until you work more than 10 hr a week 4 weeks in a row.
cool hey. everyone who hasnt already should really check it out with family assistance office.
Talked to family assistance office yesterday and looks like i am entitled to family tax benefit B
I'm getting it too Sharon as I'm working from home...not much but enough to cover Jack's nappies each month. Every bit helps I guess
Penny - Are you coming to the meet tomorrow? Looks like there will only be 4 of us, or 5 if Penny is coming too.
Hels...Penny said in chat last night she wasn't coming as her mum was visiting. So will it only be you, me, Juz and Sandy?
Hope your day improves...if not we can cheer you up tomorrow!

What she said ^^ :D
Unfortunately my mother has decided that she will grace us with her presence from tomorrow onwards.. oh the joy !! :banghead: I would never hear the end of it if I took off all day to your place Hels and deprived her of seeing her grandson - as much as I'd love to (you know that I'm dying to see your house !!). I'll get there eventually...
This morning we took Kaelan for his first swimming lesson and he loved it !! He's definately a little water baby. Other than getting him used to having water around his face (we didn't quite dunk him all the way under)... he loved floating around in a little inflatable baby ring. Of course we took photos but I will have to put them online later. If anyone is considering doing swimming lessons for your bubs.. I would highly recommend it.
Alright... things to do, people to see, places to go. will be online later :)

I can't make it tomorrow either guys. Looks like it will be a small, intimate Melbourne gathering this week.
We were supposed to have some plaster boards delivered yesterday, but they never arrived. Now they are saying Thursday, so I'll have to be here. Boo!
Penny - Can't wait to see those swimming pics! I'm planning to make some calls to some swim centres soon. Did you have official lessons or just took him to the pool yourself? Man... that means I'm going to have to buy some bathers. *shudder*
Latest thing I've noticed... Liam doesn't recognise me if I am wearing a hat.
Gee quiet today...everyone has a life except me :D
We've had an uneventful day...DH went back to work which was sad. Jack was ok...bit grumpy, only happy if something was in his mouth.
I manged to get him down tonight without the dreaded dummy. YAY to me!! I wonder if it will make any diference to his sleep pattern?
Looking forward to tomorrow's meet

I was thinking about cancelling the meet, but we may aswell go ahead with the 4 of us. Please, no one else drop out :fingerscrossed:
I'm going to make sandwiches now instead of a salad, so we can have finger foods and snacky things. I'll bake some low fat banana muffins too. I've been dieting all week and I've been really strict so I'm feeling better already.
I didn't go to my Mother's Group meet today so I think by now they would have got the idea that I'm not joining them anymore. I spent all day working anyway.
R didn't wake until almost 10am today and then he had a huge sleep this arvo of almost 4 hours! So I expect he will be up now until bedtime.
I'd better go as I have to clean the toilet and bathroom before tomorrow's meet
Oh, and DH has fixed the computer problem but we aren't networked anymore. Bloody computers!!
Hels i was thinking that it may be better to cancel the meet as well... or at least until more people are able to attend. But i guess if you are still willing to go ahead then i will be there!
Cassidy went to bed at 9pm last night after a very big fuss. She slept until 6am and was then in our bed until 8am as it was too cold to sit up with her. I feel totally stuffed and have no idea why. So have decided that i am going to bed after Cassidy does, hopefully around 930 tonight.
Went to bought some new clothes today and a few things for Cassi as well. She has so many clothes that it is getting to the point of bordering on ridiculous........
'Hi my name is Justine and im a compulsive shopper....'
I am also waiting on the cutest pair of Tigger pjs that i found on ebay.
anyway im off, time for Cassi to have a bath and then im off to bed.
Juzzy - congrats on getting clothes for yourself - its hard isn't it!
I manged to get him down tonight without the dreaded dummy. YAY to me!! I wonder if it will make any diference to his sleep pattern?
Well done! That is fantastic Lauren! Was it hard?

Hels don't go baking anything... really - the dessert l am bringing is not that great for you... but it is in very very tiny portions - it is absolutely delicious (if l do say so myself)... but l really do mean it is in tiny portions - l was going to bring two each - but given we are all trying to watch our weight a bit l will bring only one each so we are not tempted to have more (l will bring one or two extra just in case we have a late drop in)
I'm glad you decided against cancelling - its still fine to catch up with the just 4 of us - it means we all get out of the house (well except you Hels)...
I had Brad, Michelle & Olivia over today, Oliva & Michelle were over during the day, and Brad joined us for dinner, (Olivia is Coen's little cousin (officially 2nd cousin) - 6 weeks his junior)... they have asked us to be Olivia's godparents... l feel very very honored! We said Yes!!!
Had a great day - but Coen was a bit of a sh!t :devil6:! His first sleep got interrupted and it all went down hill from there... he was then difficult to get down for every sleep.... It is so hard going backwards, when l was trying to put him down l was thinking, this is what l used to have to do every day.... l can't do this again ... :fingerscrossed: cross your fingers for me that it was just a bad day and that we have not regressed!!!
Well gotta go ladies, its my house & medium night! Gotta love visitors that leave in time for your favourite tv shows (l watch it delayed so l can skip the ads :-))
See you tomorrow Melbourne chicks!!! Can't wait

It's cool, I was going to bake them anyway as DH takes them to work as they are easy for him to eat when on the road. I was worried that we wouldn't have enough food too.
Congrats on being asked to become godparents. I bet Olivia has changed heaps since we last saw her, have you got any recent pics?
Juzz - You certainly give me a run for my money when it comes to shopping lol. R now has a full wardrobe of size 0 clothes, ready for him to grow into. I sold a whole heap of smaller stuff on eBay as we had so much.

Oh, and I wanted to add that we have a couple of milestone (well sort of)
Reece has a musical mobile over his change table and he grabbed one of the toys and ended up pulling the whole thing down on top of him. He paused in shock for a few seconds before bursting into tears. This is the first time he has accidently hurt himself and cried. Previously he wouldn't have really cared or understood what had happened.
The other thing he does now is pull his head forward so I can attach his bib round his neck or do up buttons on the back of a T shirt. I thought that was pretty clever :p

Oooooohhh i love shopping. I have just started on the 0 size clothes. Pumpkin Patch are having a great sale at the moment so you know where i will be on Friday considering that the Target sale starts tomorrow as well.... i am so bad :devil6:
I was thinking about going through some of her clothes and putting them on ebay as there are so many, in the smaller sizes, that some havent been worn.
Sandy this dessert you are talking about sounds great!
Im off to bed now. See you guys tomorrow

Mon, we are doing structured lessons. Basically at this age, the lessons just familiarise Kaelan with water and get him used to being in it, holding his breath etc. There was a one year old baby there today who has already done the first lot of 10 classes (which is what we're doing now).. and you should see this little guy !! I was so impressed... he could hold his breath under water for quite a few seconds... knew how to get into the pool safely etc. This is what Kaelan will aspire to.
Some pics...
Kaelan just after getting in the water for the first time (http://www.penny-clark.com/kaelan/jul07_07.jpg)
Playing around in an inflatable baby ring (http://www.penny-clark.com/kaelan/jul07_08.jpg)
Perfecting the 'drowned rat' look (http://www.penny-clark.com/kaelan/jul07_09.jpg) :D
BTW, I had to go and buy a pair of bathers yesterday because I didn't have any... I obviously haven't been swimming in a very long time !!
Juzzy and Hels - I too am a very good shopper.. though I'm having some major withdrawals at the moment because I really have no money anymore. It absolutely kills me walking through a fab shop, seeing everything that I love and having to leave it on the shelf because I absolutely cannot afford to buy it. Poor DF, his credit cards are getting a bit of a workout on our living expenses at the moment because I barely have enough money to cover even that (our mortgage repayment takes most of my pay).
All I would probably need to do is work one more day a fortnight to live pretty comfortably (ie more spending money *LOL*).. however, that would mean working Sat and Sun of every weekend (we don't have access to baby-sitters)... and as DF only works Mon-Fri... we'd never see each other (we only have one full day a fortnight together as it is now  ).
I'd love to find a way to work part-time at home during the week and then work in ICU one day a week. If only I had a career where I could work from home.... it would be lovely, however I don't think I would be able to fit a hospital bed, ventilator, cardiac monitor etc etc in my loungeroom !! ;)
...The other thing he does now is pull his head forward so I can attach his bib round his neck or do up buttons on the back of a T shirt. I thought that was pretty clever :p Oh how cute!!! Which reminds me, Coen rolled twice yesterday!!! The first time l missed and l thought to myself, l was sure l put him on his tummy, but the next one l caught!!! I clapped and we both got very excited!!!
Penny, those photos are just gorgeous, l can't wait till Coen can start swimming lessons!!!
Oh sh!t l have probably hyped this dessert up too much its really not that great, l am just a chocoholic so like it!!! Don't get to excited, plus they are such tiny portions that you will just begin to enjoy it and it will be over!!! (But l promise not to bring any more... for the sake of our wastelines.... although that kinda means l will be stuck with them at home )
Oh and l do have some pics of Olivia and Coen l took yesterday, they were so cute, we had both of them on our knees facing each other at one stage and Coen kept leaning forward to touch Olivia, to grab her hand and one time it looked like he was trying to hug her (or just falling flat faced onto her.... not sure which)!!! Babies are just wonderful (even though he was a bit of a sh!t to get to sleep yesterday... today doesn't look like it is following suit... :fingerscrossed:)
(even though he was a bit of a sh!t to get to sleep yesterday... today doesn't look like it is following suit... :fingerscrossed:)
Hmm Jack isn't today  He slept a bit this morning but not his usual 1.5 hours. ATM he's blowing pumpkin raspberries all over the high chair
I'm also a complusive shopper  Jack has sooo many clothes. I'm planning on selling them on ebay too. Even if I get a little bit back for them it will be better than nothing I guess.
Penny - Great Photo's....Kaelan looks like he's grown since the last itme I saw him. Gee it happens fast doesn't it? BTW where did you get his bathers from?
Well better move my butt if I'm going to make it to the meet today. See you guys there
Well Coen is in need of another sleep right now... he's only been up for an hour but he's exhausted... but he is busy talking to himself and knowing my luck he will drop off just as it is time to get going to Hels!!
Kids.... sometimes they just don't work in with your schedule do they???
He is asleep - we might get a 45 minute sleep out of him afterall!

Good work on the sleep Coen!
Love the pictures of Kaelen swimming Penny! I'm going to book some lessons this week- Eloise's nan has bought her a gorgeous little swimming cossie, can't wait to see her in it! the same can't be said for me in a swimming cossie at the moment
I think we are slowly getting back on track although last night was pretty bad, but i think that was just down to her tooth. She has a little one which has been half through for about a week now.
E has far too many clothes as well - she needs a walk in wardrobe! The stupid thing is that if we're at home I often put the same things on her anyway - the ones that are easy to put on.
Hope you melbourne girls are having a good day - wish i could have been there. I think Eloise is over her cold but we're only just starting to feel human after the trip so its been a very quiet week :)
I'm home..Jack's asleep! I was home by 5.20pm so pretty good time as it was heavy from Toorak Rd
BIG Thanks to Hels (especially for hosting), Juz and Sandy. I had such a lovely day. Jack enjoyed himself too...squealled most of the way home  He settled really well too which was good considering how overtired he was....no dummy again!
Sandy - Thank you so much for escorting me to and from Hels place. Much appreciated!
DH has a late meeting tonight..not sure when he'll be home
Hope to make it to chat :)
Evening ladies!
I made it home in 20 minutes from Hels place today, pretty much no traffic what so ever
As Lauren said, massive thank you to Hels for hosting, i hope we didnt leave you with too much mess! Also a big thanks to Lauren and Sandy, was a good day!
I was concerned about Cassidy not sleeping once i left Hels place, but thankfully by the time i got out of Hels driveway she was asleep. Had a bit of a cry when we got home but she went down for her nap fairly easily and was asleep again by 5pm.
I have posted some photos in our other thread. You can find them HERE (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=79909&page=4)
Thanks again Hels for hosting today, and it was good to see you all! I got home at 5.20 as well - which like Lauren said, was good timing considering it was peak hour traffic!
I won't make it to chat tonight (going to a seminar hosted by the ABA on how to handle criticism....) - will pass on any nuggets - if there are any!
Coen slept on the way home today and is just being readied for his big sleep now - he was very good again today - so thankful it wasn't another day like yesterday! Its funny to think yesterday is what all my days used to be like - I so don't think l could handle going back there!
Have a good chat tonight!
oooh look what I just noticed :hair: :hair:

PMSL.....Hilarious!
Sorry I didn't make it to chat either...decided to have an early night - Glad I did as Jack slept 6.30-5.00am so I was able to get 6 hours in a row again. We didn't do afternoon solids yesterday so I wonder if he would have gone right thru if I did?? I'll load him up today and see what happens
Where is everybody today??
*taps fingers on the table top impatiently*
I've been waiting for someone else to reply....didn't want to do 3 posts in a row and look desperate  :p
What you been up to today Penny?
Im here!! Dont know where everyone else is however!
Went to target this morning, was pretty busy in there. Didn't buy anything for Cassidy as i didnt think their sale was as good as kmarts (that and i have already bought pressies for her for chrissie and stuff).
Then went to Pumpkin Patch and Cotton On Kids and got Cassidy some clothes.... not that she doesnt have enough already or anything . The PP sale was actually really good, i wouldnt normally buy from there as they can be quite expensive but i couldnt resist. I spent $65 for 6 pieces of clothing, but saved myself $55 as they were all part of the sale.
Got two tops from Cotton On Kids. One says 'Pimp My Pram' and the other says 'Attention Seeker'. There were a few other good ones but managed to talk myself out of buying them. I think Cassidy has enough clothes now to dress a small country....
Whats everyone up to for the weekend? DP, Cassi and i are going out to dinner tomorrow night with a friend of mine. My friend is going overseas in 2 weeks for a few years. Im going to miss her. Other than that not much really.
Lauren...I haven't done much today really... cleaned the kitchen, washed clothes... and just generally put up with my mother !! :hair: (was just trying to explain to her how to use the Foxtel remote :banghead: )
Anyways... DF and I are going to take advantage of her being here and are going to go out for dinner and a movie tonight.. poor Kaelan will have to deal with her all by himself...
What has everybody else done today?
mums and new technology LOL thats always fun to watch.
What did i do today?? *refers to previous post* lol
What movie are you seeing Pen?
Juz...your day sounds like fun. I wanted to get the "pimp my pram" top but they never had Jack's size...Penny has kindly offered to pick me up one next time she's shopping.
I just went to Medicare and the Supermarket to get a BBQ chicken for tea.. Jack slept for nearly 2 hours today and never does that so I enjoyed my time by sitting on my butt in front of the TV
He's just demolished his farax in record time and is happily chewing on the spoon. He's been really funny today.....Hopefully DH will make it home to bath him.
This weekend we are meeting up with some friends for lunch. One of them is my preggers bestie - she only has 6 weeks to go! The other couple haven't met Jack yet so it should be fun
We wanted to see Pirates of the Carribean... but we were disappointed to see that it had stopped showing everywhere... UNTIL I discovered that it is still showing at only two cinemas in Victoria (Northland being one of them)... so off to Northland we will be going... might give us an excuse to go shopping too *LOL*
oooohhhh shopping.... any excuse if you ask me!!
Ok so i am bored. Done my house work, just waiting for the washing machine to finish. Cassidy has been asleep since 330. DP is at work. Dont know what to do with myself....
lauren yeah we had a fairly good day actually. Cassidy was buggered by the time we got home. She passed out on the couch when we got home. Naturally i took a photo, it can be found HERE (http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p46/juzz01/P1000699.jpg). She doesnt look very comfy in the photo. I moved her somewhere more comfortable after i took the pic.
Just because i have nothing better to do HERE (http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p46/juzz01/P1000700.jpg) is a pic of the PP clothes i bought today. And HERE (http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p46/juzz01/P1000701.jpg) is the clothes from Cotton On Kids.

Hello
I've had a fairly quiet day, went out to the post office briefly and I've made a few more sales :yelclap:
I've also got some great items (to do with Xmas) that I think the Melb ladies might be interested in (I always buy in bulk to save $$). Anyway, I'll bring them on the next meet.
This weekend... well tomorrow night we are going over to see MIL who is taking the 3 of us out to dinner (there goes my diet lol). Then on sunday we might go shopping as I want a kiddies rug for the TV room. We might check out the Target sale too.
I will spent tomorrow daytime doing some much overdue bookwork, not my favourite thing in the world but it has to be done.
Sandy - DH really enjoyed your left over desserts, he said next time he'd like his portion in a beer glass rather than a shot glass
Juz - I love the hoodie with the roses on it! Very stylish!
Mon - How did you go today at Liam's check up?
Hels - Well Done on the sales...your quiet the entrepreneur!
Penny - Enjoy the movie :)
I've been thinking I may escape to the movies one night on my own after Jack's asleep.....I'd like to see the new Sandra Bullock movie Premonition. Looks a bit spooky
Better finish cooking tea....Jack's down for the night. Today he had 6 breastfeeds and 2 solids...I think he may be having a growth spurt

Had Liam's 6-month check-up today and he weighs 6.45kg, so he has put on 150g in 11 days, which isn't too bad. MCHN (who is a biatch by the way), calculated that his average weight gain since the last visit there is 60g a week, which isn't so great. But at least it isn't a loss. Have to go back in two weeks and see how he is going, but in the meantime just keep on with the boobs and the solids.
MCHN also said that now Liam is on three meals of solids a day, we should be giving him fish and chicken for the iron content, and that once he is eating these to move onto red meats. Is this right?? Seems a bit early to be introducing stuff like this.
Just finishing L's last feed and settling him for the night. Might pop back in later.
Hey, was a smiley sacrificed to make room for this one --> :hair: ?
Sandy... are you collecting 6-month stats too?? Still haven't seen this mystery spreadsheet of yours!
Nice clothes Juzzy!!! Pumpkin patch has really cute girls clothes!!! I went in there for Coen today and wanted to fall in love with something so that l would just have to get it.... but didn't see anything!
H
Sandy - DH really enjoyed your left over desserts, he said next time he'd like his portion in a beer glass rather than a shot glass  Glad he enjoyed them - l made larger serve last time & everyone told me they were wonderful but would be better in much smaller serves, so that was my second attempt - l think l need to find a happy medium - maybe about half what l did the first time and about triple the last time... oh what containers??? :chef: Congrats on the sales!
I've been thinking I may escape to the movies one night on my own after Jack's asleep.....I'd like to see the new Sandra Bullock movie Premonition. Looks a bit spooky

I thought that movie would be fantastic (l love anything to do with time travel -- devoted Qantum Leap addict here-- if you don't know the show you have seriously missed out)!!! But it got a really really bad review... good luck!
I think Coen is going through a growth spurt at the moment too Lauren -- he was going fine feeding every 3 - 4 hours for a few days, and now its more and longer.... oooh l just read this "Physical growth is not the only reason that babies may have a temporary need for increased nursing. Babies often exhibit the same type of behavior (increased nursing with or without increased fussiness) when they are working on developmental advances such as rolling over, crawling, walking or talking. Mom's milk is for growing the brain as well as the body!" -- maybe Coen needs extra milk to make up for the two rolly pollies he did two days ago  (he hasn't done it again since)
Interesting fact - Did you know? On average, babies double their birthweight by six months old and triple it by the first birthday.
Good prompt Mon, I waited on sending out the spreadsheet cos l was hoping to get some more stats (hint hint) from people, but didn't get any more - so will send it through to everyone who contributed...
So, yes please, stats on 6 month olds please - we are looking for
Weight, length & head circumference (we have the birth & 4 month reference points).
If you want the spreadsheet your going to have to contribute  bribery will get you everywhere!
I have an idea
How about we all share a funny... joke, story, funny e-mail ... what ever, just something light hearted... I'll start
What a way to come undone!!!!
For several years, a man was having an affair with an Italian woman.
One night, she confided in him that she was pregnant.
Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money so she would go to Italy to secretly have the child.
If she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would also provide child support until the child turned 18.
She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born.
To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card, and write "Spaghetti" on the back.
He would then arrange for the child support payments to begin.
One day, about 9 months later, he came home to his confused wife."Honey," she said, "you received a very strange post card today." "Oh, just give it to me and I'll explain it later," he said.
The wife did and watched as her husband read the card, turned white and fainted.
On the card it was written:..........
"Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti.
Three with meatballs, two without, Send extra sauce"

Hi there girls,
Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. No personals from me as I'm about to sit down with DH and watch some more t.v.
Had a nice time in Daylesford......saw snow on the way into town :snow: . DH and I found it hard to relax as Liam didn't take to the porta cot and woke up constantly throughout the night......saying that he's been VERY unsettled lately, waking up at least twice a night and only occasionally he's been hungry. This has been happening the last week or so........it's very tiring. He also had some mild diarrohea (spell?) so I think he's been unwell. Our nights of Liam sleeping through seem like a thing of the past
Liam's also been really fussy with the bottle and pulling away and crying......could be his reflux acting up again. Today he only drank half his bottle at 2 of his feeds which is very unusual for him. Not sure what's going on but seeing a paediatrician on Wednesday.
My sister's 2nd bub is due in a few weeks......I'm getting a bit nervous for her!
Ok so seems everyone has had a "boring" day today! I've cleaned the house from top to bottom and it was looking great! That is..until DH and the boys came home...took 30 seconds to come undone:rolleyes:.
Cody is loving the vegies..i'm finding it really strange to actually have oe of my babies eat what i make instead of the "dog food" type out of the tins lol. I dont know how they eat that crud....but hey..its easy, its convenient and i use it quite alot.
The other kids used to turn their noses up at home cooked but would wolf down the pre made stuff...which made it easy but $$$$$. Not to mention what it said for my cooking!
I have some pics to share.
This is in her Starbunz MCN.

those pics are great Tan
its not just siblings that draw on each other! DPs nephew was in the back of the car with Cassidy a few weeks ago (hes three), he managed to get his hands on a pen and drew on Cassidys face with it! He could have taken an eye out or something considering we were driving at the time!
Glad you had an ok time in Daylesford Jo
Sandy ill be interested to see that spreadsheet as well. Im pretty sure i did the birth and four month stats. Cassi's 6 month check up is on the 8th Aug.
Time for bed me thinks.... DPs playing computer games so looks like ive got the bed to myself. :smiliedance:

Well, we're back from the movies and had a great time. I've decided that I obviously didn't pay enough attention to the two previous Pirates of the Carribean movies... because I had absolutely no idea what was going on !! It was still a good movie though.
We went out for dinner beforehand at Sofia's which was lovely and our little man stayed home with my mother for the night. It's the first time that DF and I have gone out together without Kaelan since his birth so it was a little surreal just being a two-some again.
DF joked before we left home tonight that I'd be starting with the "I miss Kaelan.... I wonder how Kaelan is going..." etc etc within 30 minutes of leaving home... so I specifically made the point of not saying anything out aloud to prove him wrong. It didn't mean however that I wasn't thinking about it constantly in my head !! Even during the movie, I was intermittently checking my phone to make sure my mother wasn't trying to contact me *LOL*
But we're home now, Kaelan is sleeping safely in his cot and the world continues to turn... apparently another person is infact capable of looking after my son in my absence :D

Hilarious! I remember back at primary school there was a girl whose brother cut off a chunk of her hair, but it was so close to her scalp that the parents decided the only solution was to cut it all really short. She looked like a boy for ages.
l love anything to do with time travel -- devoted Qantum Leap addict here-- if you don't know the show you have seriously missed out!!!
Was never into Quantum Leap at the time (pun intended!), but they have been replaying it on Foxtel and it is great!

What's the difference between the Rolling Stones and a Scotsman?

Welcome back Jo - sorry to hear Liam's unsettled, hopefully its another one of those phases that will pass. Those portacots look mighty uncomfortable methinks so maybe that explains some of it? Eloise didn't like hers much when we were at my mum's.
Mon - good to hear Liam's weight has increased. I'm no expert (clearly!) but I think your MCHN is talking tosh. Everything I've read says breastmilk does have enough iron in it til 12 months (as the iron is easily absorbed). I've also read to hold off on meats for quite a while yet. Anyway 'food before 1 is just for fun' or something! I've tried posting a link about when to introduce types of food (only if you want to go by the book), but I'm a bit cr@p so it might not come out right..
http://www.borstvoeding.com/voedselintroductie/vast_voedsel/weaning_food_introduction_schedule.html
Lovely pictures Tanya and great clothes Juzzy. Looks like I'll have to avoid PP as I have vowed not to buy E any more clothes for a while (lets see how long that lasts!).
Not much going on for us this weekend. I feel the need for shopping - I've seen a great playmat in ELC which I'm hoping they still have. Apart from that it's DVD time I reckon

Almost forgot 6-month stats (Liam is actually 5m 3w... not sure if we'll get more stats when we go back to MCHN cow in a fortnight)
Liam at around 6 months
Weight: 6.45 kg
Length: 63.5 cm
Head circ: 44.5 cm
DH has taken my car today and I feel stranded without transport. He drives an old ute, but it doesn't have heating, so he is travelling in luxury to his friend's house today!
I seem to have mountains of washing to do. It is so annoying trying to dry stuff in winter. I try to use a clothes horse (or two) and dry stuff in front of the space heater, but it blocks the heat getting to me! Sometimes I'll put stuff in the clothes dryer, especially sheets and towels, but it is expensive to run all the time. Oh the dilemmas of a domestic goddess.
Mon - This is the list of foods and when to introduce them that was given to me by my MCHN.
6 Months (pureed/fine mashed) 1-2 meals
Rice Cereal, Pumpkin, Potato, Zucchini, Carrot
Apple, Pear, Banana, Kiwi Fruit, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Avocado, Parsnip
6-8 Months (mashed/minced) 2-3 meals
Mixed Cereals, Chicken, Fish, Beef, Lamb, Yoghurt, Peas, Beans, Rice, Lentils, All Stewed Fruit, Grated Apple and Pear, Pasta, Soup, White/Cheese Sauce
8-12 Months (chopped/finger food) 3 meals
Ground Muesli Cereal, Fresh Fruit Pieces, Rusks, Crusts, Bread, Toast, Butter, Cheese, Margerine, Vegemite, Pork, Tofu, Salmon, Tuna, Cabbage, Cucumber, Green Pepper, Herbs and Spices.
11 Months Cow's Milk on Cereal
I'm following it for Jack loosely and I do remember at the sleeping seminar I went to Pinky McKay said protein at dinner time can help bubs to sleep longer at night. It's up to you though. Just do whatever you feel comfortable with. I'm sure Liam will let you know if the vegies aren't satisfying him anymore.

Would you make these with milk and cheese, i.e. dairy products? I gave Liam some custard from a jar yesterday as I wanted him to get used to something convenient if we go out. I was surprised at how sweet it was... obviously has a fair amount of sugar in it. So, if I was to make my own now and then, is it okay for him to start having a bit of cow's milk?
My aim is to have him eating what we eat eventually (minus the chilli!), rather than having to prepare separate meals for him. But by introducing a new food every 3 or 4 days it will take us forever to get to that stage. I'm getting impatient already!
I'm really bored today. Have decided that tomorrow will be washing day. Was hoping to do some craft stuff, but Liam is having one of those "I need lots of Mum's attention" days. Actually, that's pretty much every day!

It was much easier before solids. Now I feel like I am always feeding Liam. And he has to have a bath every night... usually to get the pumpkin out of his hair, or from up his nose, or in his ears... food gets everywhere! And don't get me started on the gross nappies... ewwwww.

I'm no good at remembering jokes off the top of my head, so I'll go with the funny photos instead.
Jo - Sorry to hear Liam is unsettled again. I hope you managed to have a nice break though. Maybe if you try some of this (http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i60/Hels-b/Funnies/beerbottle.jpg), Liam will sleep better.
R is asleep ATM and DH is watching the V8's when he's supposed to be doing some housework
We are going out for dinner later, seems like MIL has invited half the family along. I expect R will cry when anyone talks to him lol.
Oh, I heard that Michael Jackson has had more plastic surgery done, seems like he will stop at nothing! Photo (http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i60/Hels-b/Funnies/MichaelJackson.jpg)
Oh well, I'd better get back to my bookwork
We are having a day at home too as we are going out for dinner tonight.
Im watching the second season of Law and Order: Criminal Intent and DP is playing computer games. Cassidy is sleeping. I should be doing housework but its Saturday so i cant be bothered.
I moved Cassidys nap forward about an hour or so as ill have to wake her up early to go out to dinner.
Now Cassidy is having solids her pooey nappies are disgusting! DP wont even go near her when she needs changing now, so i always have to do it! Cassi has a bath every night as part of her nighttime routine but it does amaze me how she manages to get covered in food. Ive found, almost every time, she will spit some food out and then rub her hands across her face so it tends to go everywhere then.
Mon as for cows milk, i didnt think babies were supposed to have it until after 12 months? Cant remember where i heard that or what the reasoning was for it.
Would you make these with milk and cheese, i.e. dairy products? is it okay for him to start having a bit of cow's milk?
I think so Mon....I think it's ok to use it in cooking. Don't quote me on that though especially as Liam has a bit of an allergy to milk. I figure if you can give them yoghurt it should be ok as that has milk in it too. We never covered solids in our Mother Group...we're metting up again next month which sucks as Jack will be fully into it by then
You've got a good memory!
It stuck in my mind because you even described the little bit of sick left over once it vomits
I've had a good day so far. Jack has been sleeping great today. Not sure what's going on but I'm liking it. He had a 1.5 hour nap at lunch. He normally only sleeps like this when he's sick but he's in great spirits...giggling his head off
Having a quiet night tonight then off to lunch tomorrow :)

oooooh lauren!!!! i got the shirts!!!!
~~THANKYOU SO MUCH~~~~~
we love them! the kids like the macdreamy, dd thinks they should make a "im so bored" in pink and her size! ds loves the car and bike ((and wants the same tops- do they come any bigger??- like a 5?)) and my fav is the punk rocker...dp says thankyou- he likes them and hes glad theyre not all slogan shirts! (hes not keen on slogan shirts!)
we went to the target toy sale today. busy busy.
we got the last of our xmas/birthdays (x3) things on our list -an ipod for 50% off and a digital camera for $100 off. we are getting dd a bowling ball, but will wait til close to xmas as shes just changed her weight ball but apart from that im done now!! will start to make wrap and tags next school hols and have it all wrapped, packed and stored away.
eli is rolling front to back and back to front. its happened in the blink of an eye. everytime i put him on his back he flips over.
tonight he pushed himself forward a little to reach a ball toy. he was bending his legs up and out and kin of dug his toes in and moved forward. scarey stuff.. i was watching in shock. the kids were laughing and dp was saying "good boy" they shut up when i reminded them of the job THEY will have moving EVERYTHING out of the crawling babys way! and it will be a job. we havent had a baby proof home for a long long time.
we cant even see the playroom floor for the lego. there are dvds and cds all at crawling baby level. all the business stuff around the comp. cat food bowls near the door. all my sewing and scrapbooking things on a bottom shelf- and all the cords- tvs sewing machines game units. then theres the pot plants- oh thats fun seeing a baby with a mouth of dirt!. i did the kitchen a while back and we are now used to the locks on everything but i think ill start finding new homes for our down low stuff very soon.
hows everyone else on this topic. i know some people say the baby will fit in with them and not move things.
i think they learn not to touch things like power switches and special things in time but if theres something you really dont want chewed up, broken, sucked on, vomited in or ripped up then move it out their way!
we got two more metal swing open door gates at target today 50% off ($35) so the kids rooms will be done now- poor eli. wont be sucking on barbie dolls heads and trying to sit in the dolls house like ds did!
No cliff hangers!!!!
thanks for the pics and jokes!
Go Jack! on the sleeping!!!
on cow's milk - "There are several reasons to delay the introduction of cow's milk until your baby reaches his first birthday. Most important, a baby's digestive system can't digest cow's milk proteins. Cow's milk also has too much sodium, potassium, and chloride, which can tax your baby's kidneys....Giving a baby cow's milk could even cause iron deficiency and internal bleeding. And it can increase his risk of an allergic reaction."
re. yoghurt... "Lactose is already broken down with the culturing of the yogurt or cheese and milk proteins are either removed or limited thus it is typically easier to digest; people with lactose intolerance often are be able to handle cheese and/or yogurt without trouble. The same is true for some people with a milk protein (either to the casein or the whey) allergy."
Their is a good page on dairy & infants Here (http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/dairy.htm#Why%20can%20I%20give%20my%20baby%20yogur t%20and%20cheeses%20but%20not%20whole%20cow%E2%80% 99s%20milk)
Why did the chicken cross the road, roll in the mud, and cross back again?
i dont know. i never get these jokes. i never remember them and never know the answers to them.
i asked the kids for a joke and they told me the rabbit ones!
We haven't even begun baby proofing our house yet... any advice on the "must do's"?
sandy- im giving eli the yoplait baby yoghurt now. a little taste went down well so i gave him some more and no reaction (apart from the blow out from the rear)
ive given him a taste of oats made with cows milk and no reactions there too.
looks like ive got the 'normal' kid. 4th time lucky.

Sorry!
Q: Why did the chicken cross the road, roll in the mud, and cross back again?
A: Because it was a dirty double-crosser.
Oh, I make myself laugh!
sandy- on baby proofing... its been a while for us most of it will be picking up and moving some things and moving him a lot as he touches things.
we have a new house since the last three were little..but this is my order with this house
kitchen first.
*knives, lighters, pointy, sharp or heavy up high.
*clean out under the sick for all poisons, spray cans inc and then get a lock for the cuboard too
*knob covers if the stove switches are at the front
*dishwasher lock (ours is big enough for a small child to get into and turns on with one button then the door locks)
* fridge door lock
only c/b not locked is plastics and pantry
kid/visitors bathroom was the second room to be done
* toilet lock (not being used now but its there when he can open the door- plumbers dont like using eels for fetching toys- and i dont like the bill)
* everything out from under sick bar spare loo paper and then a lock on doors
*plugs kept in laundry (kids can drown in few inches of water)
* blow up tap/spout protectors in bath (burns and banging body parts on)
* cleaning products now in laundry
* toothpaste now in cups up high
*covers in power switches
thats it for now oh and the door gates and the door grips (stops doors being shut on fingers) and power plug covers around the rest of the house.

Just got home from dinner and R was quite unsettled and screamed the place down at one point. He did have a little sleep in the pram for a while so that was ok. He was really unsettled last night at home too, so I think he could be teething. I put my finger in his mouth and it felt quite sharp down the bottom so I don't know if this means they are just under the gums? He won't let me look as he pokes his tongue out lol.
On a good note, I just got a sewing machine that does normal sewing, embroidery and overlocking (it has 3 attachments) so I plan to start making and embroidering things to sell, including MCN's.
Woo Hoo, I can't wait to start!!
I'm also thinking about putting R into daycare 1 day a week for about 5 hours. There is an ABC centre down the road and within walking distance. There are 2 reasons why I want to do this. One is so that I can concentrate on the working from home 1 day a week. And secondly I think it would be good for Reece to be around other people and get used to other people handling him. Tonight he cried blue murder when MIL tried to nurse him. The same thing has also happened to Juz and Lauren when they held him.
What do you girls think? or is it something he might grow out of?
Hels- please please research that type of centre first hun!!! I cant stress it enough! Not daycare altogether, just the "brand" you've chosen. If that makes sense!
The clingy thing is usually jut a stage that they grow out of...usually by 1 or so. Some babies are and some arent..its up to you on the daycare..i dont have an opinion on it at all. If you think it will help...do it! If it doesnt help and it doesnt work out you can always pull him out if needed.
I'll be very interested in your MCNs!! Be happy to be a "tester" lol.
No jokes from me..i dont know any that wouldnt get me banned:laughing:
Baby proofing- What Kay said!
All poisond up high an in a locked cupboard.
Locks on all doors and drawers.
Power point plugs (covers)
Safety gates if you have stairs or certain area's you need to rope off.
No cords exposed.
Little things off the floor out of bubs way.
doors closed to bathrooms etc.
No buckets with water left anywhere.
The list goes on and on..one thing im happy about is our house is still baby proofed from DS1!
Hels - Two of the girls in my mothers group are child care workers and both of them have worked for ABC in the past. They have both said not to go with that company as kids are often left to fend for themselves (ie not enough supervision). Obviously I have no expertise in this area and can only go by what they've said.. but thought maybe you should know.
Just a quick one for tonight but Hels we have only heard not so good things about ABC. Apprantly they are opening here and word is they "invade" a town/suburb charge low prices and when everyone else is put out of business they up their prices.
Real concerns from the bird that ows/runs where Mia goes one day a week. With the little funding they get she said it would have a mssive impact.
SO not only what Tanya said, and i'm not sure of her knowledge/experience but if there is just one concern it certainly is worth questioning.
Not saying don't look into it for Reece but perhaps somewhere different.
More tomorrow..
zzzz time
oooooh lauren!!!! i got the shirts!!!!
ds loves the car and bike ((and wants the same tops- do they come any bigger??- like a 5?))
Yep..I'm pretty sure they do. The car one was on sale so they might not have any left but the bike is new season. They also had some cute ones with robot's on them...I was umming and arring about which ones to get. I'm more than happy to pick you up some more.
Oh, I make myself laugh!
  You're a crack up Mon! I always have a chuckle when I read your posts
Tonight he cried blue murder when MIL tried to nurse him. The same thing has also happened to Juz and Lauren when they held him.
What do you girls think? or is it something he might grow out of?
Not sure if he would grow out of it as I think it will get worse before it gets better....isn't it around 8-12 months that it's at it's worst?
I agree with Tanya, maybe try him out and you can always pull him out if he's too distressed. I've heard some bad things about ABC too. I'm pretty sure I've seen some threads on here about them...I'll have a look.
One lady in my mothers group was telling us about a friend of her's who had a similar problem. She started by leaving them for 15 minutes at daycare and then coming back and each time they extended the time a bit longer...it worked in the end.
Hels..have a look at this thread :)

OK third post coming....
We had a crappy night. Jack wouldn't settle so I eventually fed him and he was STARVING! Definately a growth spurt I think...would probably explain the extra sleeps too.
How freakin cold is it in Melbourne this morning? We have ice on the lawn and it's covering the cars. Looks like a nice day though..the sky is blue already
Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday :D
i agree with everyone else in regards to ABC. I havent heard the best things about them in the past and i dont think i would be leaving Cassidy with them based on what i have heard. Good luck with whatever you decide tho Hels.
From what you have been saying Lauren, id definately say that its a growth spurt.
DP and i are leaving Cassi with DPs mum for a few hours so we can go see a movie. First time i have ever let DPs mum look after Cassi. Not looking forward to it.
Oh and as for it being cold.... When we came back from dinner last night it was 2 degrees in Somerville at 11pm. Talk about cold!! Our cars are covered in ice as well.
Hi all. well my internet is back after 4 days with no access whatsoever!!!
Dh has been home sick all week so i am looking foward to him going back to work.
I am going doorknocking when lily gets up to collect for the leukaemia foundation. also reading harry potter - am up to page 406. i figure ill just keep reading till its finished and accept not much else will get done till its done.
lily is well. her day sleeps are a bit erratic now but i think that is because we are out so much that she isnt used to being at home anymore. she is sleeping longer at night now 6-8 the last 2 night! i still give a dream feed but am down to 120ml at 9pm - im working it earlier and less every few days.
she is quite clingy and whingy during the day now and cries if she drops a toy out of reach. i love looking at the way she maniputes an object in her hand then looks at it and then pops it straight in her mouth.
so much to think out with childcare and babyproofing the hourse.
anyone got a first word yet?
good to see the pictures of the babies in melbourne - they are really developing and look so much like their mums (especially coen). we have a brissie meet up on tues if anyone wants to come to the southside of town.
on ABC- well i have my ds at an ABC now. dd2 also went to the same one (they went together for 3 months)
i like mine.... BUT i have had a few problems! from dd wiping ds butt when there was no teacher around listening to his screams that he needed help! to the fees and dont get me started on that one i am NOT paying that $2000 bill that has DDs name on it. she has been at school for 3 YEARS!
but ds is happy there and hes never been treated as anything but a little prince so i will leave him til he starts school. my boy has them in his inner circle! when he talks about family and friends his teachers are right up there! but then i have gone there late one night and found him in the staff room ordering his topping for his freshly made toast!
the director is nice and easy to talk to and his teacher he had last year was the best any of my kids have had in my 10 years of childcare-ing'. the teachers he has this year are the ones dd had in her last year there. they were very good with ds' allergies tho i havent had to trial them on the medical side of things yet and this is where my fears of that centre come into it. im really swaying towards not putting eli in there just yet. maybe the other private centre here until hes in the pre-school room or just the other centre and leave him there til school age. im not crash hot on their little room (6wk-2yr) or the care given. im not keen on the way they have handled my questioning on their care they can give eli with his apnoea monitor...and i wasnt too happy seeing my friends 14 month old donged on the head while one teacher changed a sh!tty nappy (in full view of all the toddlers) and the other teacher talked to a mum like a long lost friend.
oh and then theres the dramas of last week when ds little made told some tall story and the centre rang DOCS!!
oh id better shut up now or youll start to wonder why i even keep ds in there!!!
the pre-school program they offer, while it isnt as good as a community based (pre-school) one, ds is learning and he has fun. he has all his friends there and he is treated well. it wouldnt be fair to him to change schools this close to starting kinder.
hels- go down and check them out. you might find they are great. trust your gut. watch them with the kids. go there quite a few times. oh and one good thing about ABC is their starting hours, like one hour with mum then one hour alone, then two ect. i didnt pay while they did their start hours til they did half a day.
oh and hels i had HUGE problems with dd2, like reece she didnt want to go to anyone, but by 1 yr old she wouldnt want dp not my mother- no-one. i didnt start her in care til she was 17 months and it was a bAD idea starting that late. they rang me after a few hours and said she was still screaming! 2 days was all we lasted.. they rang each time. she went back to grandma for the two days while i worked and then started in pre-school at 2.5 yr. because of this i started ds at 14 months and had the same problems but he soon got used to it but he still cried when i left him right up til over 3 years old. i think eli will be like dd1- anybodys kid!

I think day care all comes down to the quality of the staff. Perhaps ABC has lower standards for their staff hiring, but you could still get some fantastic people. I guess you'd have to check out a bunch of places.
I'm going to have to start putting Liam's name on some lists for when I go back to work in January. I've heard it can be tricky to find a place in our area. I'm sure my MIL would be more than willing to look after L, but I'm not sure how I feel about that. She has a tendency to ignore the parenting methods I'm using and just do her own thing (i.e. constantly rocking him to sleep, giving him new foods without checking with me, etc.).
Burnt my index finger a little bit last night. Was lighting my gas grill and was having a problem with the lighter gun thingy so I turned off the gas to fix it. Must have still had the gas going just a tiny bit as when I lit it there was a massive WOOF flame that came out. Singed all the hairs off my hand (which stinks!) and burnt my finger that was curled around the clicker trigger thingy. I'm pretty lucky that I didn't get burnt worse. My finger is just sore enough to be annoying, so not too bad.
How cold was it in Melbourne last night?? I hate breast feeding when it is freezing. I could never be a nudist!
i just read the abc forum from the link in here.
wow.
i must add (something i hadnt even remembered til reading that) that ours was taken over by abc they were a private owned centre and has most of the staff that are there already worked there.
so really the problems ive had are not with staff handpicked by ABC. only the fee issue i can blame on ABC. i mean how dumb are they when my dd has been at school three years yet they continue to bill me for her! even the director is at her wits end over this problem.
well half my family is at a live show and im here with the boys..again. why is it that i always get stuck here while dp and dds have fun...im going to take ds for a drive to find a toyshop we havent yet looked at. maybe we will drive up to aust fair. they have a great park there just near seaworld. damn our yearly tickets have just run out or we could pop in there for an hour or two to play on their kiddy rides.
eli is having fun in his jumpy. OMG he loves that jumpy. im so glad i put him in that at the babyshow. theres no way i would have got one for him otherwise. we were given the jolly jumper mat from a friend so now he can make a lot of noise with it too.
what a fun little kid i have had in the last week, even looking poorly with a snotty nose and a bad cough he has been fun. no non stop crying and hes had a big sleep and two naps each day. ((still waking 3 times a night but we will work on that when hes well again)) he laughs at my 'boo' games everytime... im hoping this funny happy kid will stay. im liking it a lot.
sandy- on baby proofing... thanks Kay, there were some real nuggets in there that l just wouldn't have thought of - have copied to refer to down the track.
ABC's - Hels, there was a story on the ABC child care centre on a current affair last year some time (l think), it was pretty negative so they have a bad reputation from that. My SIL works in child care and she says that the main problem with them is that they are understaffed, and because it is run like a franchise cost comes into everything, things like food etc. are highly regimented (so she says... not sure if that's true, it doesn't sound like that is the case at the one Kay's kids go to), and lastly she has said that they tend to get the newer staff working in the centres (unless they take over a centre and keep the staff)!
How cold was it in Melbourne last night?? I hate breast feeding when it is freezing. I could never be a nudist!
Oh, tell me about it, l hate breastfeeding Coen cos his hands are so cold, so when he starts l try and keep his hands away from me until l can warm them up! I don't succeed very often.
My little munchkin is screaming with DH at the moment - l'd better go and see what is up!
Again on the topic of ABC...
I just remembered something but it probably shouldn't be taken as representative of the entire company.... HOWEVER...
When Kaelan was only a few weeks old, a really good friend of ours (who works full-time at ABC for the record) gave him a bottle and put him to bed in his cot. It wasn't until some time later that I walked into K's room and realised that she had put Kaelan down to sleep on his side. Now I know it sounds like I'm just being overly dramatic here... but it really got me thinking. If this friend of ours works for ABC, then you would imagine (expect) that all staff would be well informed on the correct way to position a baby for sleeping to minimise SIDS risks. It was something small I suppose... but it really shocked me at the time (I would expect it from the average Joe who might not have much everday contact with babies... but NOT a childcare worker).
The only reason why I remembered this is because ironically, DF and Kaelan are at this friends house as we speak. DF just told me on the phone that K was asleep in her bed... so of course my first question to him was "Is he asleep on his back??" Apparently he his (DF knows that I'm paranoid about it now :D )
re: cold - I was at work lastnight so had the benefit of being in a climate controlled environment the entire night... however driving home from work this morning (I finish at 7:30am), my cars external thermometre was reading anywhere from minus (-) 1.5 through to about 2 degrees (depending on how built up the area was). Suprisingly there wasn't much fog around (it looks like it must have been a nice day today - I've only just got out of bed  ) but there was plenty of ice on the front lawns of houses and the various paddocks that I drive past.
And thanks for the baby-proofing information girls... that stuff will really come in handy. Might be time to start layby-ing all the necessary equipment.
Hey chicks,
Did you have a good weekend? Ours was pretty average - nothing special...MIL came over yesterday and asked me whether l had perhaps pulled Coen's arm out (as in out of the socket) - I would have quietly said no and let it get me angry later on -- yeah l regularly pull my son's arm out of its socket for the fun of it!!! but Darrin piped up and said don't be ridiculous, don't you think he would be crying if that was the case... all of this because he was holding one arm out when she was holding him and had the other at his side.... NEWS FLASH - sometimes kids will hold their arms out!
In any case she wasn't too annoying aside from that.... l offerred to take her to her mums on the other side of town this week - so we could take Coen for a visit - l'm a bit worried about being stuck in a car with her for that long -- ewwww!!!!
Okay just waffling now - its quiet in here today.
Have a good night everyone! My little munchkin is asleep --- oh that reminds me- you all know how excited l am to have my little man sleeping all night now -- my only problem though is he has decided all night is 7-7.30-- 5am --- any suggestions on moving this forward (and putting him to bed later doesn't work... oh and he is not waking up starving with hunger either.... he will eat if its offerred but he isn't screaming for it - he is actually quite content to lay in his cot and play -- but he is so noisy...)
I guess l shouldn't complain - it beats the mid night wakeups... but if anybody does have a wonder cure l am all ears
oh dear...i think im going to be baby proofing my lounge room sooner rather than later!
my little darling has just rolled a good 3m away from my feet trying to get at a toy! he rolled off the carpet and thumped his head down on tiles. earlier today i left the room and came back to his face up against the lounge leg.
i am so surprised that this has happened so quickly!
penny- ice!!?? far out. must be cold! does it snow by you??
MIL came over yesterday and asked me whether l had perhaps pulled Coen's arm out (as in out of the socket)
:hair: :hair: I LOVE this new smiley!! Sums up In-laws I reckon. Maybe your MIL and my MIL should get together for a coffee.. I think they have a lot in common
my little darling has just rolled a good 3m away from my feet trying to get at a toy!
WOW! Jack's so lazy, he will reach his arm out and if he can't reach he will whinge until I get it for him..
We've had an ok weekend. Had lunch with my bestie today and I got to feel her bub kicking :D (she's 34 weeks) I'm so excited for her and her hubby. I can't wait until her bub is born! She looks fantastic too.
I gave Jack some banana in a mesh feeder today. He seemed to enjoy it until it fell in the floor. Just sucked away happily while we ate lunch. I cooked up pear and zuchinni last night. These will be our new foods to try this week
Off to watch Sixty Minutes....there's a story on about a man in US who has fathered 150 kids thur sperm donation
HI again.
well after skiting about lily sleeping well at night she was really unsettled all afternoon - and have been crying for the last 4 hours. she has dropped off now finally - but for how long. i think the sleep in this morning (although nice) put her out so tonight she didnt know where she was.

I'm not reading it at the moment, but I will eventually, so no spoilers please! Hey... we finally have a use for this smiley! --> :wizard:
Cr@polla of a night here:
1. Liam will not sleep. DH is trying to settle him again. He keeps waking up about 5 minutes after falling asleep and being put in cot. I've ended up with a baby that needs to be held to fall asleep. Have to do something about this for my long-term sanity.
2. DH and his Dad were painting the ceiling and a few walls today, but because it is so cold I can't open the windows now, so the place stinks of paint fumes. It's not that bad actually, but maybe that's why Liam won't sleep?
3. My frickin cat is being so annoying. I had the bassinette part of L's pram in his room, ready to put away in storage, and I have busted Astro asleep in it twice today. Big trouble.
4. I burnt my other index finger on the toasted sandwich maker. Now I have two burnt fingers. :( I'm feeling a bit sad and sorry for myself, and I can't use my left hand to type. I don't deserve a kitchen.
Good stuff list:
1. Liam was in fits of hysterical laughter today when we were playing with a bouncy ball. So funny... and so cute.
2. Painting looks really good! We have done a feature wall in a steely-blue colour. I really like it. Have to wait for the plasterers to do a few things before we can paint the other walls, and then the flooring can be put down. Yay!
3. Astro turned up the other day without his collar. We found it today hanging from a nail up high on one of the exposed beams from the building stuff. If it didn't have the elastic stretchy part in it he would have hung himself for sure. I'd say Astro is up to his 5th life by now.
4. I have 6 fingers and 2 thumbs that aren't burnt!

Hi girls
Thanks for all the info on ABC centres. The one down the road has only been opened for 2 months or so, but I will check it out thoroughly first. There is also a family run centre that's a short drive away (which is also fairly new) and DH and I have already been there and liked it very much, so that would be my next choice. I liked the idea of the ABC one as I can walk there on a nice day. However, I will only put him in one if I feel the standards are high. I am thinking only 1 day a week for 4 hours to start with, going to a maximum of 6 hours when he's settled.
Lauren - DH called me to watch that donor show, but it wasn't anything that we didn't already know :) I like the idea of all the donor kids getting to meet one another though. But they won't give out that info in Victoria.
We have a very big decision to make. We have an opportunity to adopt a newborn baby. To cut a long story short, the mum is the daughter of a family friend and she is intellectually disabled. She got herself pregnant as she thought it would be fun to have "a cute little baby". However, Family Services are going to take the baby away for adoption as the parents of the girl do not want to raise the baby themselves. So there's a good chance that we could foster or adopt the baby if we make contact with the girl's mum this week. (The baby is due in the next 2 weeks). We are quite open to the idea of adopting, I suppose this is because Reece is biologically half mine and half a unknown donor. I don't want to rush into something though, but I feel that we could give this baby a good loving home and prosperous future.
Anyone have an opinion?

I have this image of the floor opening up and sucking the banana into the hellmouth. I'm guessing you meant that it fell ON the floor??! (you know I'm just messing with you... right? :))
Liam had zucchini today and seemed to enjoy it. So far he eats rice cereal (but only as a mixer), pumpkin, potato, apples and custard. I've got the sweet potato all ready to go... and then it will be pears or banana I think. Will then start thinking about chicken or fish I guess. How do I muush meats up? Bamix, or just tear them up as small as I can? Pureed chicken doesn't appeal at all.
Anyone got good plans for the week? My parents have been in Cairns last week (great timing... they have missed the worst of this cold weather), so they are coming to visit at some point. And on one of the non-rainy, non-windy, non-cold days I was thinking of heading to the park with Liam. I think he would really enjoy a swing now. Not sure if they have the big swings, so he'd be on my lap, or the little kids swings... but he can't hold himself sitting yet so that might not work... and my **** is too big to fit in them!

big decision
Woah. That's huge! Not a very long time-frame to think things over though. If you did adopt the baby, would the family want to be involved as well? And what about health issues? Would you still be so willing if the baby has special needs?
One of our family friends was adopted. She had a serious heart condition and needed a lot of medical care that her very young Mum and Dad couldn't give her. She was adopted and also had regular foster parents to help out. Her biological parents and grandparents were still involved in her upbringing, so essentially she had 3 sets of parents and 6 sets of grandparents! Unfortunately she passed away last year (aged 20), but she always knew that everyone loved her, and they were all a part of her life in different ways.
Not sure if that helps, but something else to think about I guess.

 there is the possibility that the baby could also be mentally disabled. The mum has epilepsy too. DH and I have talked about it some more tonight and he thinks we should wait before having another baby and enjoy Reece in the meantime. He has a good point and I'm sure the baby would go to a good home, if it's not ours. There is however a chance that it could be perfectly normal, but I don't know if we can take that chance. It's not like we can say "I'll take the baby, but if something is wrong I want to hand it back". Not an easy one is it? :(
Hels that is a massive decision to make and no doubt one that is going to need alot of thinking about. Either way i am sure you will make the right decision for yourself and DH.
I suppose if i was in that position i would be more than willing to adopt the baby but i guess having recently had a baby myself it really wouldnt be something i would want to consider so soon after having my own child as id want to enjoy just having her for the moment (if that makes sense).
However there is obviously other things to consider in this situation which i am sure you are aware of and will take into consideration. Good luck Hels, with whatever you decide.
Wow hels - huge decision. after what you said i have started thinking about adoption in australia. could you explain to me how it would work? as you know this girl (and are wondeful parents) does that mean you would be considered above other couples who also want to adopt?
i have no advice except to say perhaps fostering the baby in the short term may be an option for you.
i think there is a reason that pregnancies are 9 months long - so that mums dont have their kids closer together than that iykwim (except for twins etc). i would definately not be ready to take on another baby yet.

sandy - i have been thinking about the 530am wakeup. i went to a sleep seminar with tizzie hall. she said that if the baby is getting up before 7 then move there bed time earlier. something to do with nighttime sleep cycles being 2hrs long and some babies who wake at 530 onwards deciding it is morning and not resettling for another sleep cycle.
so for example - bed at 730, briefly awake at 930, 1130, 130, 330, 530.
or bed at 700 - wake briefly at 9, 11, 1, 3, 5 and 7am.
i think this is way when i put lily to bed at 6pm she will either sleep till 6am or 8am but rarely 7am.
i dont know what is to stop coen getting up at 5am instead? probably just more likely to resettle.
if he wakes early and needs a feed do it straight away but treat it like any other night feed and put him back to bed straight away - no games etc. and dont let him get back up again unitl he has had another sleep or it is 7am.

Interesting new problem here. Liam doesn't roll but has figured out a way to move. On his back he digs his heels into the ground, arches his back and wiggles up a bit. Repeat until final destination is reached. Twice this morning we had to get up to a screaming baby as he hit his head on the top of the cot!
All the SIDS info says no bumpers. Are we out of that danger zone yet? And does anyone else use bumpers?
Guess we'll have to start thinking about baby-proofing this place. Difficult when we have stuff everywhere due to the unfinished back room building. Also have lots of power cords and cupboards that will need attention.
Will be interesting to see how Astro the cat deals with a moving, curious, grabbing baby. Worries me that one.
Ran cold water on my burnt finger for ages last night, and put some burn gel on it. Doesn't hurt at all today even though I burnt it worse than the other one. Solugel... great stuff. My fingerprint looks very warped. Probably a good day to commit a crime!

Sharon - Great advice on the sleeping. I took notes. How did Lily sleep last night?
Mon - As always I started my day having a chuckle reading your posts. Another thing I remember about you is that you hate spelling or grammer mistakes  Your parents are quiet the travellers aren't they?
Plans for this week - Today I have Mother's Group, Tuesday I have to drop off a jewellery order, Wednesday I'm seeing my pregnant friend again, Nothing yet for Thursday and Friday I'm pretty sure I'm visiting my Grandpa and Mum
AND how weird is this I had a wood duck in my backyard this morning....my dog nearly ate it for breakfast!

Hi Girls,
Thanks for all your warm welcomes. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply back and keep in touch. Isabella has been really cranky and out of sorts lately and I'm not sure why. She has had fever's but no sign of a cold and has been waking up at night when she normally sleeps right through. Last night she was awake for 3 hours straight. :hair: So you can imagine how I am feeling today:eek: This pretty much sums it up!! Great to see some of the bub's are getting mobile. Bella still is not rolling but can move herself around the floor a bit on her back. I think she's just too busy lying there looking
cute to move around too much.
Hels...I was thinking about your decision to adopt or foster. Would it be rude of me to ask what disabilty the mum has?? Just wondering cause if it is a genetic or chromosome condition cause then it is likely the bub will have the same, but if it is just an unknown intellectual disability then bub could be fine. I'm not sure what I would do, definately a BIG decision. Good luck with what ever you decide.
Will try to keep in touch more often and see how all the bub's are going. Hope you all have a great day!
Nikki
Good luck Hels! Big decision there - no experience here so l will stay out of it- but you and Greg do have a lot of love to give - so whether you decide to take on this child or have another of your own down the track - l am sure you will make terrific parents to two children!
up to page 535 of harry - anyone else reading too? I bought it on Saturday but haven't started it yet - the plan is to start tonight l think - l can't wait - my problem is that when l am reading a good book l get totally addicted- l have even been known to stay home from work to finish reading a really really good one... l think the last harry potter book had me reading at traffic lights...
she said that if the baby is getting up before 7 then move there bed time earlier. something to do with nighttime sleep cycles being 2hrs long and some babies who wake at 530 onwards deciding it is morning and not resettling for another sleep cycle.
so for example - bed at 730, briefly awake at 930, 1130, 130, 330, 530.
or bed at 700 - wake briefly at 9, 11, 1, 3, 5 and 7am. Thanks Sharon - l will pay more attention tonight and give it a go...
We have had a good day today - went on my first real walk since the prolapses... it was a good day for it - l am exhausted now - and will probably feel a bit heavy down there tonight - but right now l am very glad to have gone!
Coen is definitely going through another growth spurt - he is hungrier and sleeping more too, today when he was being a pain in the @rse l thought, perhaps he is tired (even though he had slept for the whole 2 1/2 hours during our walk and it had only been 1 hour since he woke up) - but that wasn't it, l tried playing with him more, but that wasn't it either - he was hungry again - even though l had fed him just 90 minutes before... we'll see how we go - but if it continues for more than a few days we might have to head down the solids route earlier than we had hoped!
Poor Bella :hugs: - could she be teething? My little man has been teething on and off for awhile now... and on those days he tends to be more flushed than usual - l have taken his temp. on a couple of occassions, and it has been slightly higher... but still in the normal range.
Good photo's Lauren
Mon - Your banned from the kitchen - oh except ofcourse if you are baking more of those cookies - oh btw - l will grab that recipe off you if that is okay - mmmmmmm cookies!!!

Hey
Well I've finally had a moment to post in bubhub......it's been very hard lately as I've been out and about a bit and Liam has been a bit of a struggle with his sleeping.......he's still waking in the middle of the night at the moment which is not typical of him
He's teething so we think that's the problem plus he took a whole bottle at 3:30am this morning so he must be hungry too. Trouble is he hasn't been taking a full bottle during his day feeds so making up for it at night. :banghead:
Welcome Nikki - Isabella sounds like she's going through what Liam's been going through for a week now. I think it could be a combination of things....teething, growth spurts, development milestones.....who knows. As my GP says it's all second guessing with babies!
Sandy - it must have felt good to get back into some exercise.......I need to get some more myself and want to get back on my treadmill. Just have to work out when to do it with Liam!
Hels - I'm still having trouble reading previous posts so I'm not sure but it sounds like you might be considering adoption? I will find out more when we catch up next.
I've been having heaps of trouble accessing this thread.....for some reason it takes me back to previous posts and not the most recent ones even though I've set it up to show the recent post first (and always have). This has only happened recently so not sure what's going on.....
Everyone's been talking about solids but Liam is struggling to finish his bottles at the moment and not showing signs of needing anything else.........so I will probably be waiting the 6 months by the looks of things.
Have a great evening girls :)
Hi. it seems so quite in here today - i really needed a fix so i have been reading the jan thread (to see what i've got to look foward too). they have a lot of bubs who have altered their normal routines so that reassures me that lilys weird behaviour is normal.
she is screaming and crying tears and then 20 seconds later laughing. i cant leave her sight or ignore her for even a second. very little sleeping today - not even the full 40 minutes at one stage. she has passed out now and i gave her formula after the last bf so i am going to leave her tonight and see if she will sleep through!! (that is no dream feed):fingerscrossed:
would you all mind giving an update of the currnet daily routine and night times you are having? ill go first -
7am feed
800 solids
830 sleep
1030 or 11 feed
1145 solids
1200 sleep
230 feed
400 sleep
445 solids
bath
530 feed and formula top up
600 bed
9am feed - stopping today to see what happens
usually sleep through till morning.
That helped to write it down. sounds much better than it felt today. at least she is still sleep ing at night *throws salt over her shoulder*
Sharon - I'll do today for you...It still varies a bit as Jack's morning wake ups are all over the shop. Our nights are always the same though...I'm fairly strict with that. When it varies it's only by 1/2 hour
6.30 feed
7.00 sleep
8.15 solids+play
9.15 feed
10.00 sleep
11.00 play
12.15 feed
12.30 sleep
2.00 play
3.30 feed
5.00 solids
5.30 bath
5.45 feed
6.00 bed
Today Jack refused to go down for an afternoon nap. He just cried and cried until I got him up which is why he went to sleep at 6. Normally it's 6.30. At night he will sometimes need a re-settle but the last few nights he's been going from 6.30-5.30am......He's only had one night feed this week.
Um woah firstly feel like I so way in the wrong place but I saw Hels was looking into adoption.
Has DHS/DOCS had direct contact with you Hels??
Hels I think before even thinking about this you need to contact DOCS or DHS in your state because their are VERY VERY specific legisaltion with this.
Anyone have an opinion?
To even be considered for adoption you must have undergone the application and approval process. Also adoption, foster care and permanent care are governed on a state by state basis. There is also Kinship care which is where a family member takes on the permanent care of the child. Which sounds like what your refering to Hels, I am not sure though if DHS/DOCS would do this in your case because you need to be directly related in general.
Often people interchange the use of adoption and permanent care, while they are similar they are also different.
Ziggy (Sharon)
i have started thinking about adoption in australia. could you explain to me how it would work? as you know this girl (and are wondeful parents) does that mean you would be considered above other couples who also want to adopt?
Feel free to pop over to the adoption section at the board and you will see where some members have dicussed this recently. If you have anymore questions I would be happy to help over there. I just feel like I'm in the wrong location here!
Jacinta
Hels- thats a massive decision and i have no idea what i would do BUT you are an intelligent woman with a massive heart so i have faith that whatever decision you come to will be the right one for your family. I do not envy you one bit...having to even contemplate it..that being said though, you always seem so capable, i'm absolutley certain you would cope.:hugs:
ziggy- the mood swings is a female thing. It doesnt end either so might as well get used to them!! My two yr old is absolutly a shocker for it..but then, so am i lol.
Welcome back into the thread bells mum!!
Juzzy- i posted your cream on Friday so it should get to you very soon!

My MIL accidentally jammed my thumb in a high chair at Target today... so I'm down to 6 fingers and 1 thumb. I'm a walking accident, so stay away from me!
Sandy - PM me your email address and I'll send you the recipe. I got it from this thread, but I've already got it as a Word doc if that's easier. http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=29207
Our usual routine went out the window today, but it is normally something like this:
8am Liam wakes and plays by himself in cot :smiliedance:
8.30 Feed & play
9.15 Solids & play
10.00 Sleep
10.45 Play
12.00 Feed & play
1.00 Solids
1.30 Sleep
2.00 Play
3.30 Feed & play
5.00 Sleep
6.00 Feed (have just started doing this one... he's not overly hungry at this point but he needs beefing up, and I'm trying to up my milk supply)
6.15 Solids & play when Dad gets home
6.45 Bath
7.00 Feed & book
7.30 Bed
This is a very rough guide and I'm fairly flexible. If I am out-and-about he tends to sleep in bigger blocks, usually because there are other people to help tire him out. And the play times can be just a walk around the house looking in all the mirrors, or him entertaining himself in the high chair while I cook dinner, etc. Not always "active" playing.
Basically I try for at least 4 milk feeds a day with naps in between, plus 3 solids a day. Try to have him in bed by 8.30pm at the very latest, but it is tricky when we are out as he won't settle until he is in the car to go home.
Can a baby eat too much solids? Liam ate the portion I allocated for his dinner, and wanted more. So I gave him some apples, and he still wanted more. Ended up feeding him double what I expected, and he still wanted more! He kept opening his mouth for more, and started crying almost hysterically. Is this actually a sign that he wants more, or is there such thing as comfort eating??
I ate too much for dinner. My friend came over and we made sticky date pudding. My body is in a sugar coma... drinking lots of water to try and dilute the sugar rush. But oooooh, it was soooooo gooooooood!

Hi girls
To be honest, I have no idea what is involved with adoption. I haven't even made the phone call (to the family involved) to let them know that we are interested. All I know is that the legal guardian of the baby will be the grandparents and they don't want to raise him/her. But I don't know if they have any say in who can raise the child or if it is out of their hands. I was going to offer to look after the baby when it is born until the family works out what they want to do. Then we would have looked at adoption if it was a possibility. I suppose we will find out all the details if anything happens, as it's still uncertain at the moment.
We stayed at home today and I did some work. R is still a bit unsettled and I think teething. Everything goes in his mouth now and he has rosy red cheeks all the time. He's also a bit grizzly and he has been waking a few times at night and needs to be re-settled.
Better head off to bed I suppose
Roopee i think your right about lily just being moody. and it is the right of all women to be moody whenever they want.
so i am going to be moody now - have been plannning a girls night out for over 6 weeks now with my non baby friends and 2 of 5 have dropped out at the last minute. i am annoyed as since i had lily i have really felt like no one calls or invites me out anymore. i'm not dead - i am a mother! this does not mean i am not a person who still enjoys having fun.
also good news - lily slept though without the dream feed. 13 hours! amazing. she is getting so grown up.
Here's my joke - better late than never:
How To Handle A Husband
A couple was celebrating their golden wedding anniversary on the beaches
in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Their domestic tranquility had long been the talk of the town.
People would say, "What a peaceful & loving couple".
The local newspaper reporter was inquiring as to the secret of
Their long and happy marriage.
The Husband replied: "Well, it dates back to our honeymoon in America,"
explained the man. "We visited the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and took a
trip down to the bottom of the canyon, by horse. We hadn't gone too far
when my wife's horse stumbled and she almost fell off. My wife looked
down at the horse and quietly said, "That's once."
"We proceeded a little further and her horse stumbled again. Once more
my wife quietly said, "That's twice."
"We hadn't gone a another half-mile when the horse stumbled for the third
time. My wife quietly removed a revolver from her purse and shot the Horse
dead.
I SHOUTED at her, "What's wrong with you, Woman! Why did you shoot the poor
animal like that? Are you friggin crazy?
She looked at ME, and quietly said, "That's once."
"And from that moment.....we have lived happily every after."
going to pinic with the bubhub southside brissie girls. catch ya all later.

One small child free to good home. Adorable by day, feral by night.
I have had 2 hours sleep and am wrecked. We have got to try and do something on his dummy dependence and the need to be held to fall asleep.
Any thought on controlled crying, or just letting him cry? Haven't tried either yet.
Should I battle the dummy or the holding first?
Where did my good sleeping baby go? And how did I end up rocking him to sleep so often? I swore I wouldn't do that.
Heading to MIL's house today as the builders will be attaching plaster walls this arvo. Ho hum.
Oh Mon you poor bugger! Sounds like Liam has forgotten how to put himself to sleep....I hope he improves for you  I'm going to be tackling the no dummy soon myself...I just have to psych myself up to do it as I'm sure there will be crying from both me and Jack
Sharon - Go Lily on the sleeping thru :yelclap: Great news!
US - Jack slept 6pm-5am. Problem was DH woke me at 4am going to the gym then Jack woke me at 5am wanting my boob. I'd just gone back to sleep when DH got home from the gym and woke me again :banghead: I've told him no more gym that early in the morning!!
Jack also has another cold.....why is he sick so much? He's not to distressed but is coughing a bit. :fingerscrossed: it doesn't turn into bronchiolitis again! I've only just gotten him sleeping well again...don't think I could cope again
*Sparkles*
24-07-2007, 12:23
Sharon - I know how you feel about your non baby friends. The same thing has happened here, we don't hear from anyone. I'm so glad I have made some new valuable friends from bubhub though! :hugs:
Mon - Sorry to hear about your lack of sleep, how awful. I do a bit of controlled crying, I'll leave R up to 15 mins sometimes before I go in. I usually go in more frequently if I have only just put him down as sometimes he just needs a helping hand to drop off. In the middle of the night I never rush in there. He has started waking every night but usually self settles himself. But it's annoying for me as I wake up and can't get back to sleep again :banghead:
He doesn't use a dummy much anymore, he has taken to sucking his fingers, always the same ones. Not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing?
Lauren - I hope Jack's cold doesn't turn into anything serious :fingerscrossed:
Us - Having another day at home today but will head out to the post office later this arvo. Then we are going out tomorrow and R has his 6 mth check up on friday. So that's our week planned.
Have a good day everyone :)
Mon- are you sure it was an accident? With your thumb i mean? Maybe she's subtly trying to tell you she doesnt like you!! LOL- im kidding!
Sharon- unfortunatley this happens alot. It is really hard for them to understand and really frustrating for us mums. I dont know what you can do though..im sorry!
us- well DD1 is starting to refuse her day sleep! I am NOT ready for her to give it up...those 2 or 3 hrs of an afternoon are my saving grace and i still need them!!!!!!
Cody is doing really well! She doesnt roll, done it a few times but has since stopped (lazy bones) and now digs her heels into th floor and scoots around on her back! Very funn but now i have to make sure i dont step on her:eek:

The grandparents will most likely be given by the family law court what is called kinship care in a permanent care situation. Where they would have legal custody of the child until they are 18. The thing is that private adoption which is what you would be requesting is not allowed under any state law in Australia. People can't legally arrange it between themselves. I would also advise against 'just caring for the baby', the reason for this is because if you did want to explore the family law court becoming involved for a permanent care situation. This could very well go agaisnt you with DHS in vic. It could even put the grandparents in a tricky situation because DHS might legally view that as abandonment.
My advice is to find out what the family really want and sure that they can live and cope with. Then contact DHS ASAP because if you want to take on adoption or permanent care you would have to undergo assessment and training for this that can take up to a year to complete. Particularly at the moment with baby Catherine and baby Joan being in the media it has really seen the local adoption and permanent care information sessions being filled very quickly - people are under a bit of a mistaken impression that local adoption is easy and that local adoption and permanent care is all about newborns which is VERY far from the truth.
Good luck Hels.

i looooove it. i gave it a real test- 15 min after it came i took it with bub, 2 kids and the dog for a walk on grass and path. its so nice to push...love the one touch opening and the way i can put it in the boot in two parts.
now on the downside...the back wheels are so far apart! im so used to zipping in and out with the little peg but a few times today i got stuck...the closing of the fram is a bit stiff but getting easier each time.
and the very best part..eli sat in it for a 30 min walk to the shops and our shop and all the way home! i got him out when i wanted to not because he was screaming. he faced me the whole time and sat in there happy and smiling.
lauren- sorry jack is sick again. poor him and poor you... eli is still sick from when he had the needles 3 weeks ago...and the over night sleeping went out the window back then. im back to the same 3-4 wake ups a night as the early weeks. im over it i want him to be well again.
mon- i think you should do the getting to sleep problem first...i just know if it was me...id rather have a dummy kid than rocking one to sleep in a years time...hhmm goodluck
Bellas Mum
24-07-2007, 16:14
Well we had a better night last night. Bella woke at 4.30 and after getting her back to sleep twice only to have her wake again within minutes, I ended up feeding her and she settled back down at 5.30 and slept til 8. Mind you, I did everything to make her sleep better. Put Vick's baby balsam on her chest and feet, gave her Dimetapp and infant's friend, heated the room etc... She now has a runny nose so i guess it's safe to say that she has another cold. I sympathise with you Mon, that was me on Sun night. I've also resorted to rocking to sleep, which we never had to do. As gorgeous as they are, they are never quite as cute at 3 am in the morning!
What a great pram my_lot. And your bub is very cute!!!!
Have to go start dinner. DH will be home soon and wondering why I haven't started. Catch u soon.

Thanks for all your advise. My DH has decided he doesn't want to proceed as he thinks it's too close since having Reece. So it stops there basically. Sounds like (from what you have said) that there is alot more involved in it anyway. I really hope the baby finds a good home though, the whole situation is very very sad.
Kay - The pram looks great and doesn't Eli sit up well in it? Reece still reclines quite far back in his. But he doesn't even sit up by himself yet anyway.
Reece love choccie icecream! I gave him about a teaspoon's worth (it was melted first so not too cold). He ended up with it all over his chops and had a big cheesy grin on his face. So maybe I should feed him icecream every meal  (just kidding, of course)

and welcome from me too!!
Hi Guys
not alot happening here really. Have been so bored that it really isnt funny anymore. Am going to start going walking again as i really need to get out of the house daily to feel better. Just need to rug Cassidy up a bit i guess so she doesnt freeze.
Got stuck at DPs mums today while DP went to work in Sorrento as he took me to the bank this morning and then decided that he didnt have time to take me home. Meanwhile i didnt have the nappy bag or anything on me so we had to stop and get nappies and wipes.... :banghead: Cassidy cried everytime DPs mum went near her but was fine when DPs brother and sister picked her up and stuff. I thought that was pretty funny.
Cassidy has started to suck on her thumb only now. Guess its a good thing, means she cant try and choke herself on her hand!
Kay love the look of the pram! Eli looks comfy in it!
Lauren :fingerscrossed: jackie isnt too sick and is on the mend again soon.
Mon :hugs:
i am home alone tonight (well except for Cassi....) as DP is working so i might make it into chat. Feel a bit out of sorts but we will see how we go.
hi
long time no post over here. Daniel is 5 months old. I can't believe how quick time has flown. He's got two teeth and is starting to crawl  . He loves his boobies and I'm happy to give it to him still. He sleeps from about 11pm till 5am and then wakes for a feed (we co-sleep) and by the time he finishes I'm usually asleep again. Then he wakes around 8:30am for another feed and then we are up for the rest of the day. The weather is so yucky over here :rain: and cold
apologies for no caps where they should be...still strange things happenings with this computer.
have been reading but unable to reply so thought bugger it and needed to catch up with whats been going on.
routines - mmmm i wish it was
6.30 - 8.00 i might wake up
have a feed
have a play
go to bed sleep for 2 hours
play in bed and have a pooh
feed
play
solids
sleep for 2 hours
feed
play
stare at sisters afternoon tea
have a power snooze in swing or i would go back to bed and have another 2 hours
about now it is roughly 5.30pm
solids
play
bath
feed before i completley crash and dont want to drink.
we are trying for the 7.00pm bed thing and sharon we will drop the dream feed tonight as i waited up last night for her to have it and she didn't want it. slept from 7ish unitl 6.30am
now your a mum - so common to be considered extinct. frustrating i know. we were one of the first to have kids out of one group of friends and now they have nearly all joined the club. pity we live 900ks away now!!!
lauren - sorry jack is sick again, hope it does not develop into anything more. i think we all want this winter to runaway
dummys/sleep/settling- elly is so dummy dependant to go back to sleep. but i too would rather that than nursing to sleep at all ages. this seems to be a hard habit to break. friends still did it for their 4 yr old....aarrrghhh
tanya - day sleeps are just fantastic when they have them. mia who is three and a bit only does now about 3 times a week. now it's not so much having the break it's the fact she transforms into a different child around 5.00
hels - you seem to have had a lot to think about lately. i know adoption is a long travelled road and hence so difficult in this country. hope your happy with your decsion and you continue to enjoy reece and all the stages he will take you through.
nikki - g'day to you, i'm a bit of a newbie here but it's a great place to be
speaking of which it's that time of night that when i look at the clock next it's 7.30pm
cheers all

Hi there
Merlion - Liam is also 5 months old (officially tomorrow) happybirthday Liam! He isn't crawling yet but was starting to commando crawl when on his tum.....doesn't seem to be doing that anymore and gets upset now on his tummy so not sure what's going on there. He rolls heaps though, and it's amazing to watch how interactive he is now! So cute.
Juzzy - I get bored too unless I go for a walk every day or up the shops or something. I found yesterday a crappy day because I stayed home all day and didn't even go out in the pram. On the flip side if I go out too much I find it stressful and tiring so there has to be a happy medium.
Lauren - I hope Jack gets better soon. It's horrible when they're sick.......makes it harder for us mums.
Hels - funny that Reece loves chocolate icecream (don't we all)!
Me - this week is pretty busy.....today I met up with a friend who's bub is 7 weeks old for lunch.........he's so small and Liam seems huge next to him. Sebastian is very cute though and I had a nice time having lunch with my friend. Tomorrow is the paediatrician then mothers group......I also want to visit my sis who's due to give birth in a few weeks with her 2nd. She's getting nervous about going into labour as she had a really long labour with her 1st but I'm sure it will be shorter this time :fingerscrossed:
I'm still very tired......does everyone else feel tired still even when they get 6 hours sleep in one stretch? I need my 8 hours I'm sure
Can't wait for Kath & Kim to start again on Channel 7!!
Have a good night ladies.
Hello girlies... how is everyone?? hope you are all doing well.
So I had a fabulous day today... quite an achievement really considering I finally had my long-awaited gynecology appointment at the Mercy. As I suspected, I have a mild to moderate cystocele (prolapsed bladder) however the doctor is fairly confident that with some pelvic floor physio, it should heal itself over time... so that's good news. She said its a fairly common thing after childbirth (but not so common after a caesar... however, K was 'reverse birthed'.. hence my problem)
Funnily enough, the doctor that I saw today was the same doctor that performed my caesar... so I was able to find out some information about what actually happened before, during and after my caesar (I never got to discuss any of this at the time).
Apparently Kaelan was *so* stuck that he would NEVER have made it out vaginally... so I'm thanking my lucky stars that they never did try the forceps delivery. She also said that my uterus got torn during the caesar which caused all the bleeding.. and that the head injury that Kaelan sustained (subgleal haematoma) is a very rare thing to happen.
The one thing that she did tell me which has completely put me on cloud nine today is that my next baby will most definately have to be born by caesarean section.. no if's or buts about it... I'm so, so, SO excited by this !! :smiliedance: At least I know that I won't have to argue with them to get a caesar next time !!
Such a great day today :D

Mon - you poor thing. I hope you haven't lost any more digits today!
Sharon - routine? What's that?!:D My little darling is all over the place. I'd like to think its because we just got back from the UK but really she's always been like that. i can't get her into a routine so we just go with the flow according to where we are going that day.
Hels - haven't posted for a few days so I missed your dilemma. Sounds like a tricky situation. I'm sure you've made the right decision for all of you.
Welcome Nikki!
Had a good day today - Mother's Group. Not so good on the naps though - two 20 minute sleeps today. I give up worrrying about it now otherwise I'd drive myself barmy! :)

I'm still very tired......does everyone else feel tired still even when they get 6 hours sleep in one stretch? I need my 8 hours I'm sure
I would love 6 hours sleep in one stretch! :)
Kay - Pram looks great....Jack has the same top as Eli!! How funny! We must have similar tastes in clothes. He looks gorgeous with those two teeth
Jo - Happy 5 months to Liam! How's he sleeping now? Any better? I've been getting 6 hours straight for a week now but can never seem to catch up...Jack was unsettled for 2 months and it really took it's toll sleep wise. I meant to say too I got married in Daylesford. It's one of my favorite places. Glad you had a good time!
HI Nikki  Welcome!
Juz - Hope your feeling better soon lovely :) Are you coming out to dinner on Saturday night? Sounds like you could do with a girls night out!
Penny - Great news on the caesar you sound rapt..not so good on the prolapse hey? Just remember to keep "sucking it up" as kay would say lol
Sorry I won't make it to chat....crapola day today  Jack didn't want to sleep much and I've had a headache all day.
My mood lifted a bit tonight though..when DH got home he took Jack for a cuddle but Jack wouldn't take his eyes off me and then gave me the hugest smile...such a cutie!
Catch you gals later
While I was in live chat tonight, my DF (who has been home recovering from sinus surgery) started to sneeze and Kaelan cracked up laughing everytime he did. It was SO cute.
We thought we'd try to catch Kaelan laughing on video, so we fake-sneezed...and thankfully it worked.

Priceless!
We've had another rough night here. Got up to Liam at 12.15, 2.00, 4.30, 6.00, 6.15, 6.30, at 6.40am I gave up and got him up, which is where we are now.
So tired. So so tired. I don't know how some of you are still doing night feeds.
Am going to top him up with a ff tonight. Sounds really dumb but I'm going to have to hunt around here for a bottle, and then work at how to sterilise. Haven't had to do it before. I've got some Nan 1 starter infant formula Gold, which says suitable from birth. Have had it as my emergency back-up for ages. Still in date. It's got instructions for making it up for 6 months plus, so I guess it is okay to use at his age?
Speaking of which...
Happy Half Birthday Liam!

Six months old today. In some respects it feels like the time is flying by, but I also can't really remember not having him around.
Hopefully L will have a big nap today... because I'll be joining him for sure.

Hey Mon, i'm with you this morning. Had an absolute sh***er of a night. Bella woke at 1.30, got her back to sleep after 20mins, then just as I was getting back to sleep, she woke at 2.30 and finally settled back down at 6.00. All I have done all night is rock her to sleep and then when i would put her down she would wake up screaming. Made DH get up to her but she just cries when he tries to get her to sleep. She is all stuffed up, so I gave her Dimetapp, put Vick's on her chest, put the vapouriser on, nothing worked. To say I am tired is an understatement!! Cant even stay home today and sleep as it is DS's sports day and he wants me to be there. ARRRHHH!!!Think I might fall asleep on the oval watching him!!
Sorry to start the morning with a whinge but needed to vent to someone other then DH. Think he thought I was going to lose the plot last night. Think I came close too!! Hope you all had a better night then we did, and hope you all have a great day!

happybirthday Liam! Sounds like we were up at the same times Mon! I've just about reached the end of my tether now! Eloise is fine though as she goes back to sleep within 5 minutes. I'm off to the MCHN this morning so I'll see if she has any ideas for me. Do you think Liam might be teething?
Love the video Penny - gorgeous!
Right, better go and get ready. Hope everyone has a good day :)

I feel your hidden pain. Hope the sports day goes well, and there are long snoozy times between races. :hugs:

Do you think Eloise is still jet-lagged or is it a resettling issue? Let me know what the MCHN says please.
I'm sure he has been teething for a while now. He munches on his dummy, right up the back of his gums too. Can't feel any poking through though. Could be a long road ahead if that's the problem.
I'm staying home today. I might even stay in my pyjamas all day in protest of the whole world.

I had a bad night's sleep too but it wasn't R's fault, I was tossing and turning all night with too much on my mind. I've been awake since 6.30am too. I have to go out for lunch and I feel so tired that I can't be bothered, a pyjama day sounds great!
Anyway, wishful thinking so I'd better go and have a shower and get ready before my little munchkin wakes up again.

[QUOTE=SuperFrog;1729437Do you think Eloise is still jet-lagged or is it a resettling issue? Let me know what the MCHN says please.[/QUOTE]
Hmmm, well, she was no help at all really - sorry! She did say it could be teething (isn't everything down to that?!) or jetlag. I'm sure its a resettling issue though especially after reading Sharon's post about bubs stirring every 2 hours. My MCHN did say that solids may improve things - I guess that doesn't help you though as you're already giving them. Well, hopefully you're having a snooze at the moment.
Think I'll head out for a walk, it's such a nice day.
Guess what?????
Guess what i did today???
Taught Cody to drink from a straw!!:smiliedance::laughing:
Kay- i love your pram!! It look awesome!
penny- great vid!
hope everyone with unsettled bubs gets some sleep soon!:hugs:
I hope all you ladies having crappy night sleeps have a good one tonight! Coen slept for me from 7-6.30 last night - which is wonderful (we put him to bed a little earlier last night - so perhaps your idea worked Sharon -- will see how we go tonight)- but as l am a bit sick - l couldn't sleep very well -- I am just lucky Coen was adding to it as well - Mum came over today to help me out a bit... was supposed to get a massage, but had to call and cancel :(
Did l mention the other day that coen had 4 feeds in 5 hours yesterday morning... whilst he slowed down during the day - he still wasn't making it to his usual 3 hours.... and today has been very similar - he is definitely going through a growth spurt... but l wonder also if it isn't time for solids...
BTW - l am halfway the 6th Harry Potter (l needed a refresher before l could let myself loose on the 7th) - being sick has its advantages, l got to have a 2 hour bath today and just relax!!! And read.... and DH came home early so l wouldn't have to deal with Coen by myself!!!
Coen has been a bit of a pain to get down for his daytime sleeps today - he missed one and that through the rest of the day out -- but finally got him down just a little while ago!!!
aaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh!!!
i just dropped my mobile on concrete and cracked the screen..... whoops..... :o
I cracked the screen on mine last week!!! Well actually my mum closed the boot on it... so l am lucky that it was only the screen that got cracked... but it was very annoying!! Its an expensive phone and now l am stuck with it for at least another year... oh well it still works... does your Juzz?
mine was a pda smartphone, so it had a touchscreen rather than a keypad.... so now that it has a massive crack down the middle of it, it is pretty much unusable. It still turns on and everything but cant use it. It was fairly expensive as well so i am not impressed.

Hels - Hope you had a nice lunch and weren't too embarrassed in your pyjamas.
Hannah - You prompted me to get off my lazy **** and go for a walk. Met up with one of my mother's group friends and her friend, and the three of us went for a walk. There is a great bike path that runs all the way to Altona Beach through to Williamstown, so we walked along that for a while. Not sure how long it would take to get to the beach. Maybe 45 minutes? Path is nice and wide so we could walk with all three prams across. Was really good to get out in the fresh air (and out of my pyjamas). Thanks for the prompt. Spent the afternoon at my friends house and we had a good chat. I think I needed a boost and put things in perspective. We've had it pretty cushy so far as Liam has been an easy baby. Makes it hard to go backwards, so to speak.
Tanya - How on earth did you teach Cody that? Well done! Straws rock.
Sandy - Sorry to hear you are a bit sick. You must be a prune after two hours in the bath! So... after looking at that picture last night you just had to have a bath with Harry, huh??! I think I'll have to go back and read the previous book too. Can only remember the ending.
Juzzy - I think there would be a big market for rubber phones... would merely bounce when dropped.
Us - Liam has been really good today. He was hard to manage this morning because I was so tired, but he wasn't any worse than usual. Definitely doing a ff top-up tonight. Hope it helps.
Now that I've wrapped my head around it, I think formula will be a good thing. Will allow me to have a bit of space from Liam... which I think I'm starting to need. Will stick with a bf/ff combo and see how it goes, but I think I'm okay with giving up bf if it comes to that. Just harder to accept when it wasn't my decision.
Perhaps it is my body telling me to slow down and let other people help out. I'm tired and run down, which isn't helping at all.
Enough about me.
Mon thats a tough decision to make. I ff and bf and it has worked out fairly well for us. Gives me a bit more freedom and flexibility as well. It was a tough decision for me to make. I am currently doing 4-5 bfs a day and 2 ff a day (as well as a solids feed now...), one of those ff are before her bedtime and have found that she is more settled at night and does sleep better from it.
Having said that i have heard that the whole 'sleeping better after formula' thing doesnt work for all babies. :fingerscrossed: it works for you however.
Going cheap... a fiesty (yet gorgeous) red headed baby who refuses to sleep or stop screaming...
(All I want to do is cook my evening meal in peace... is it any wonder that I live on toast and cereal?? I'm *so* going to insist that DF switch to day shift so that I can have a break in the evenings for just a few minutes... bad, bad baby !!! :) )

I had a nice time out for lunch, then I had to see a customer this arvo so I had a busy day after all.
Mon, I don't think anyone noticed the pyjamas, but I got a couple of strange looks at my slippers ;)
I've posted some of Reece's professional photos in his photo thread. If anyone wants a squizz just click on his name in my siggie. Saves me uploading them to photobucket and posting them twice.
Early night for us tonight and a quiet day at home tomorrow. If the weather is like today we will go for a long walk. I am still no closer to fitting in the dress that I bought for my nephew's wedding and the date is getting closer
Juz - Shame about the mobile phone. Are you under contract or can you get a new one? It might be repairable too.
Sorry no other personals, I've already forgotten what everyone wrote as I'm so tired
I need to have a whinge too
I went to my friends place today as Jack was in good spirits this morning but on the way home he cried on and off THE WHOLE WAY!!!!! 1 1/2 hours with him grizzling in the back seat :hair: :banghead: I eventually stopped and gave him some panadol. He finally fell asleep 5 minutes from home. Poor thing I feel so sorry for him that he's sick again. I wish there was more I could do....He was very hard to settle tonight too, crying even though his dummy was in his mouth :crying:
I'm in for a long night I think...
Mon - I feel your pain :hugs: Good Luck with the formula tonight
We thought we'd try to catch Kaelan laughing on video, so we fake-sneezed...and thankfully it worked.
Gorgeous!
Jack laughs like that when my DH does a burp :D
Geez im having a good day. DP found my wallet. Pretty funny now that i have gone and replaced all my cards.... i did however gain $25. LOL
As for my mobile i am under contract but i have decided just to go buy a cheapy phone for the moment. My phone is out of warranty now so it will be exxy to fix.
looks like Cassi and i will be having a trip to the shops tomorrow.
hi girls
just have done another cook up of solids - i cant keep up with lilys appeteite - she ate a whole carrot for dinner (steamed and mashed of course)
as part of her bedtime ritual she is having solids, bath, then full breastfeed then 140ml of formula as well. her little tummy is bulging by the end of it.
mon - i am impressed that you have taken the step to try formula. it might take a little while for him to take the bottle but if you persist or get dh to do it it will help. maybe give your normal BF and then as much formula as he will take. if you always give the bottle at the same feed it shouldnt interfere with your other feeds. no one can make milk when run down and stressed out.
still need to clean the house. off to work tomorow which means lily is off to MIL. it has only taken me 6 days to get her over the last time i went to work one week ago.:banghead:

Liam wanted nothing to do with the bottle. I gave it to him after he had a small bf, solids, bath, another small bf and then ff. Hard to know if it was because he wasn't hungry or because he didn't know what to do with it.
Was thinking of trying a ff for an earlier feed when I know for sure that he is hungry. Will try again tomorrow.
Going to bed.
hi everyone...
been a long day with my snotty face kid. he had me up and down all night and then slept for 3 hours today. i wasnt expecting it so i cleaned up did some paperwork and waited....he was up from 1pm til 8pm after that!
penny- the vid is funny. had me laughing at the fake sneeze too!

im off to bed.
yay!! Cassidy has finally figured out how to roll over!!!
i think she did it by accident to start with and was a little shocked when it happened, but she has been doing it since before bed last night and thinks its funny now!

Hi guy's,
Well we had a great night last night. Bella slept from 8.30 - 7.20 and I only had to get up to put her dummy in twice, then she went straght back to sleep!!Yeah!! After the night before I was ready to give her away. She still has a cold but she is now on antibiotics and I am giving her panadol, demazin and anything else I can find to help her get better & sleep better.
Mon - sorry to hear that your are stressed and run down, hopefully Liam will take to the formula and you can take a break and get some rest.
Penny - Kaelan was soooo cute in the video. Bella does the same thing when we sneeze.
Lauren -Dont you hate it when bub screams in the back of the car and you cant do anything. Bella used to hate the capsule and if tired instead of just going to sleep, she would scream. She's learnt now that screaming gets her know where so just goes to sleep.
Well, hope you all have a great day. I have to go to my DD1's school for a parent/teacher review. Should be fun..her teacher is young and cute!!(and male of course!!) Catch u all later.
yeah for cassi!!
my exciting news for the day- eli is 7.8kg!
this is the first good weight gain since starting solids
Kay what was he weight at the last weigh in? Either way sounds like Eli has had a good weight gain!
Bellas mum thats good news, heres hoping she keeps having nights like that!
Cassidy was crying in her sleep last night at about midnight, dont know what was wrong, bad dream perhaps? Didnt have to go into her or anything thankfully. She slept from 930 until 8am this morning. Shame i cant sleep that long. I think i am getting sick, so after we go to the shops this morning i think Cassi and i will curl up in bed for the afternoon.
It's the 26th today which means that our groups Australia Day baby turns six months old today

happybirthday - Happy half birthday Reece!
Mon - I hope your night was better. Ours was a bit. Please let me know how you go with the formula as I'm thinking of introducing a bottle at night too. Eloise has taken a bottle on two occasions from DH with a bit of persistance, but that was EBM. I would like to try formula so I can have a complete break now and then and also in the hope it will fill her up a bit!
Lauren - it's so horrible when they grizzle in the car isn't it? I never know whether to stop and comfort or just get home as fast as possible!
We have a 2nd tooth peeking through at the bottom - Eloise has been fine with it though. She's also saying 'dadadad' repeatedly at the moment. Does this count as a first word? Please?! :)
'Nearly' 6 month stats - weight 8.7 kg, length 67.8 cm and head 42.7 cm. Not a 'little' baby any more!

Thanks for the happy half birthday wishes for Reece! He's becoming a big boy now (in more ways than one lol). We have our 6 mth check up tomorrow, so I'll finally get around to posting his stats.
Had a lousy night, he kept waking-up and crying and would then go back to sleep. He normally does this around midnight, but last night it was every few hours. Funnily enough, I am not so tired today (compared to yesterday) so maybe I am getting used to being sleep deprived again lol.
I am keeping busy with my home business so we're off to the post office and to get more supplies this arvo, I also have a delivery to do. Might have to visit Harris Scarfe whilst we're out as they have a good sale on too :p
Melb Girls - If you haven't got back to me yet, please could you let me know if you are coming on sat night so we know the final numbers? thanks. I am really looking forward to it :) .
Have a good day everyone.

Hels - I'm definitely coming on Saturday night. happybirthday half way for Reece!
Mon - good luck trying FF. I hope it helps. Like Juzzy said it doesn't guarantee bubs will sleep through (apparently solids don't either, but it's all worth a try). I find Liam sleeps through generally and he's FF. Usually has his last feed at 10:30pm and sleeps through until 6/7am. He has been waking lately but the last 2 nights has slept through thank god.
Hannah - I was reading about when babies start saying their first 'words' so it sounds like Eloise could be doing that now! How exciting. Apparently Daddy or dada is sometimes what they say first as it's easier to say than Mummy :)
Lauren - I hope Jack is better soon. It will be good to catch up with you on Saturday night.
Sandy - I hope you feel better too :hugs:
Bellas mum - good to hear you had a better night's sleep.
Liam was weighed at the paed's yesterday and with his clothes on but nappy off weighed 8.2kg! What a porker. He's been really good today.......sleeping still and has been asleep for 1 1/2 hours
first words i get mum mum mum a bit. Dont know if that counts either but it is pretty funny to hear! I am kinda looking forward to when they start talking but having said that i kinda want her to stay a bubba!

I'm having another cr@p day. Liam has done a lot of crying because I'm trying not to hold him all the time. Was steaming some veggies and forgot about them. Managed to burn the bottom of my nice saucepan and my whole house stinks of burnt, um, burnt stuff.
About to try a ff. Hope it goes better this time.
If it is a bottle issue, can you give formula from a sipper cup?
I feel like the routine that we had established, which was working, has had a large spanner thrown into it and now it's out the window. I'm back to feeling incompetent again. Will just put it down to another bad day and start fresh tomorrow... minus the veggies.
