Hi! I was just wondering, For those of you who found out your babies gender while pregnant, How many of you found out at birth it was actually the opposite sex to what you were told??
I know this use-to happen often way back... but have the ultrasounds and advanced medical technology made it easier to find out and more accurate??
Thanks for the feedback! :)

everyone else i have ever met, have been able to see what they were having (if they asked) and all got it correct.... so have well over ten people i can think off hand....
I was told I was having a girl.
My son is nearly 12 months old now. :p
Was quite a shock and many people thought I'd be upset, but it's amazing the feeling that took over as soon as I was told he was a boy I was overjoyed :D

I've kinda been stressing about this the past few days....I was told I was having a boy and the ultrasound DVD looks like it is fairly obvious that it's a boy! But still...I have this niggling feeling in the back of my mind like, what will I do if it turns out to be a girl?! I'm concerned because everything I have brought is for a boy...with all the excitement of the pregnancy - I never once stopped to think when buying things that they could be wrong.
My sister made it even worse the other day by telling me that one of the other mum's in her Mothers Group was told all long she was having a boy & then out popped a little girl! The explanation was she supposedly just had extremely inflammed genitals....
Eeep! I have to stop worrying about it...I'm sure that my US was WAY too obvious and I "feel" like it's a boy...but ugh...still worrying me though!
Hoping it's definitely a boy!!!! :fingerscrossed:
I have 4 kids and asked the sex with 2 of them. They said girl with 1 of them and it was right and the other 1 they couldn't tell me. I have a friend though who was told a girl and got a boy.
I have a friend who was told she was having a girl, she had the baby shower etc. and EVERYTHING was pink and she had a boy!!! She is still happy as ever though even after the inital shock....

i'm glad i wasnt able to see rather then a wrong guess... because she would have been bonding with a "girl"... i'd be worried about the shock interfering in the bonding afterwards....
There's no interference with bonding. :)
As soon as Cobey was born, and as soon as Chris told me she was actually a he I was in love. As I would be, having my own baby :)
I cuddled him, I cried, I picked a name.. he was beautiful, he was mine and we bonded.

With DS we had our 19 week scan and his legs were wide open and we were told that he was a "she" only to find the "she" had grown boy bits in the next half of the pregnancy
I think personally, just from what I've read and heard, it's the people who get told the sex at early scans that get the surprise gender at the end!
I wouldn't believe a sonographer if they told me the sex of the baby before 18 weeks.
With DD1 they were right, and at a 20 week scan there were very obvious girl parts this time round too so I'm not overly concerned!
Not always Carmen.
I had a scan at 20 weeks :)
I, personally, believe that it's inexperienced sonographers get it wrong... some experienced ones can get it right as early as 12 weeks (girls and boy), whereas out sonographer was only young, so possibly very inexperienced.
