Hi my name is claire from Thornlie WA
First time baby due 28.11.05 only 4-6 weeks (doctor bit funny about due date. said 4 but thinks 6 because of all the throwing up.
Feeling good today we only found out on Tuesday. have only told family and a few close friends.
Does anyone else work full time? silly question i know in this day and age. I am a licensed Settlement AGent (for properties) and am unsure how i am going to copy with such a high stress job. feel like i have lost part of my brain this week and keep bumping into things!!lol
My husband has just started uni and although it was a planned baby (getting pregnant came rather quickly we had only been trying 8 weeks!) i am going to have to work as long as possible as we have a mortgage, cars etc.
other question is how do you tell you boss?? i am at a small company and i know that she will be really happy for me but not sure how to broach the subject?
HELP.

Hi girls,
Welcome and congratulations. I'm pretty new to this site and am just past 6 months pregnant. I remember when we found out - I was so excited (it's our first too) and I just wanted others to talk to about it, but felt a little silly because everyone I knew that was preggo was so far ahead of me and already on their 2nd or 3rd.
I know that you're not supposed to tell people for 3 months, but I just couldn't wait and I also figured that if something bad was to happen (there is a history of it in our family) I would prefer to have the support of those around me rather than try and battle through with everyone just wondering why I was in such a sour mood or so depressed. It's a personal choice, and if you simply can't keep it to yourself then don't!!!
I also opted to tell work earlier than 3 months, once again so that if something happend I would have their support with taking some time to get past it or understanding my moods if it did happen. I work under a State Award so I made sure that I was aware of what was required by me by law in notifying my employer, maternity leave, etc. I think it is all pretty much the same across the board. You are legally allowed to continue to work full time up to 36 weeks. After 36 weeks you need a letter from your doctor stating that you are medically fit to continue to work. If you are exposed to hazards through your work your employer is legally bound to provide you with a safe alternative for the duration of your work. Most employers are fine - just keep them informed.
You must both be so excited! I've had a few niggling aches that have persisted (my pelvis separated early) but you'll find that regardless of how you feel it is the most amazing journey. Relish every moment. We've taken photos of my belly profile every 4 weeks to keep a visual record and I'm glad that we did because now when I look back over them I find it amazing.
Good luck with everything - and remember to enjoy every second (even those spent with your head in the toilet bowl!!). Being pregnant is the best thing I have ever experienced, and I'm SO looking forward to motherhood!

I have a five week old and am on maternity leave for 6 months.
Claire1st I understand about the work thing!!! I work for a small company and was nervous telling my boss but I did about 8 week mark I recall. I trapped him in the office and said how would you like to be a uncle? and he just laughed and that was that. The funny thing is that I am a manager and my manager above me then told him she was also pregnant and then just before I left my nurse announced she was pregnant!!!!!so in a matter of months he lost his top two managers and our senior nurse. The mushy brain well that is just a part of the parcel I had post it notes all over my computer and basically everywhere I had to remember things.I worked up until 2 weeks but cut my days down as it was just too hard, but it depends what work environment you have I was blessed with great staff and a understanding boss.
Good luck with it all I really enjoyed it and yep its the most amazing thing to happen to me. I took pictures of my belly and its weird looking back on them now...even the picture of me the day before Abi arrived amazes me!!!
Cheers

Hi Claire!
Congats on your news! I'm new here, too, and noticed that we're due on the same day!! From the sounds of things you may be a bit more than 4-6 weeks along. My doctor put me at 8 weeks this coming Monday. (That's going from the first day of my last period. Ultrasound will show it correctly soon enough, anyway!) You may be that far along, too, especially if you're at the vomitting stage. I'm really sorry about that. I hope it passes soon.
With the telling your boss thing, you don't have any legal obligations to tell at any particular time, just whenever you feel comfortable, so do it whenever you feel it's right for you. I haven't told anyone yet. (Okay apart from my husband & best friend!!)
I understand your concerns about the money pressure. I keep reminding myself that my parents raised three kids and they were heaps worse off than me. So, it can be done. Good luck with everything.
Nan. xx
