hi all
just a quick Q, esp for those ladies who have had two (or more) vaginal births.
after DD was born i was shocked, to say the least, that I had NO control over my pelvic floor muscles while weeing (i.e., couldn't stop mid-stream, which was a little test i have done ever since to see how my control is).
this has improved a little, 17 months on, but is still not as good as before. I still can't hold on as long as before if I am busting  , nor can i stop myself weeing at the peak of the stream, though i can do so towards the end of the wee!!!! (sorry if TMI!! :p )
i figure this situation is only going to get worse after this next baby is born. does it go back to normal one day? ever?????
Do you do heaps of kegels and other pelvic floor exercises?
I think it is definitely the only way you ever get them back, just squeeze, and release, squeeze and release, over and over again!!
Very monotonous, but effective if done regularly :)

Yes you can get your bits back to normal AM ... just as ApprenticeMomma said through consistent exercising of the muscles.
I had a partial pro-lapse after my second and I was horrified to think of my bits all loose and floppy .. sorry if TMI. But 20 months on and it's all back to normal ... nearly. Occasionally if I sneeze I trickle ... oops ... still working on it:o

hi AM and Supermum!
TY for your replies. :p Yes I do my PFE's religiously, as my yoga teacher drummed it into me, and have been pretty diligent since DD was born. This is why I am so stunned that i still can't stop that wee at the height of midstream (though I can't remember if I could before, but think i could).
Can you do a test for me next time you urinate!!!!????!!!!! Can you see if you have any trouble stopping midstream? Is it just me who has this disability and/or who finds this disconcerting?!?

Righto - have duly conducted test and yes I can stop it midstream ... not easy and maybe a drip got through but certainly no Depends required here!
And no, you're not the only one AM. I remember being absolutely horrified at the elasticity of it all. Although elastic is supposed to spring back:confused:
LOL @ "wee muscle strength":D
Yes, you will get it back, if you work at it, like the other ladies have said:)
Hi,
I had problems with my pelvic floor after the birth of my daughter. If you feel like you'd like to see a professional, I can highly recommend a physiotherapist who specialises in pelvic floor injuries. Her name is Helen Edwards - she's a lovely person, very professional and yet very caring. She's in Margate at "Entire Health" on Oxley Ave. There are also some physios on the southside who specialise in women's health.
If you have private health insurance, you should be able to claim the cost back. I don't have any insurance, so it cost me $40 for an hour's visit. I went to see her 3 times over a period of 3 months, and I'm now so much better. I occassionally have a trickle if I sneeze, but I've come so far in the last year, I think of myself as cured.
Wishing you all the best.

This isn't the same cos I haven't had a baby - but its on the topic of weeing and maybe its pelvic floor issues too.
Has anyone experienced whilst being pregnant that they can't empty their bladder entirely the first time? I feel like I have emptied it and I wait til I can't squeeze anymore out (TMI - sorry :)), but guaranteed once I walk out of the bathroom, 30 seconds later I feel like I'm busting and have to go back in. This can happen up to 3 times, I now just ignore it and after about 10 minutes the 'urgent gotta pee' feeling goes away.
My pelvic floor muscles are pretty good, sometimes I have a leak when I sneeze but its usually because I'm trying not to get that round ligament pain in my belly so I'm tensing my belly instead of using my muscles down there.
Anyone ever had the same thing? Is it because bub is on my bladder so she is blocking me emptying it properly? or do I need Kegels?
CJ I have had 5 babies and 30 weeks preg with no 6 I have the exact same problem with weeing as you I think it is just to do with the uterus putting pressure on the bladder sometimes if i rock back and forth whileon the toilet the second half will come out. Make sure you diligently practice your pelvic floor during and after your pregnancy I have and have had no problems with hanging on.

Its more than likely just bubs pushing down & making you feel like you need to wee again.
I had this big time with bubs was horrible.
Remember that your bladder is restricted & squished atm so things so dont quite work like they used to LOL. Babies take up all the room they can & sometimes that means our organs suffer for it LOL !
But keep up your kegels !!!!!!
Thats a huuuuuge thing !
You should be doing them a few times a day & even more when remembered !
This then helps after bubs is born especially if its routine as you will just fall back into doing them post partum !
Good luck :)
