View Full Version : Young QLD Parents Group

I'm seeing if I can possibly arrange a little get-together so that young mothers in Queensland (within an hour or less of Brisbane City) can meet and greet.

I'm 19, and know how hard it can be to meet people. Sure, there are playgroups and such...but a lot of the time they're filled with older mothers who I just can't seem to relate to that easily (it's like talking to my own mother if she were to have a baby!).

For now, it's just a one-off...but if all goes well...I'll organise a monthly get-together. The first meet-up will probably be late Feb, early March 06, and somewhere around Brisbane City.

You, and your bub/child, can be any age...so long as you're a YOUNG parent (I say this because that's the whole point of the get together...to meet other young parents). Bring your other young parent friends along too...if you have any (It's okay if you don't...I don't really either). You might find some great playmates for your littlies...or make a friend or more for yourself (hopefully!).

If you're interested, PM me, reply in this thread...or send me an eMail at Stilettos_and_mules_and_loafers_oh_my@hotmail.com along with any ideas or comments or whatnot.

Would it just be for parents, or could parents-to-be come along as well?

Parents-to-be, Fathers and what-not would also be invited. If you felt better bringing a childless friend along (esp if you're shy) that'd be fine too.

"Young" is classified as many things...but I've been sending invites to those who I have discovered are 24 or less. You're more than welcome to come if you're older... it's just the age-group I've selected (because, as it is being arranged with young mothers in mind, I had to draw the line at "young" somewhere...).

I am considering setting up balloons, and perhaps some little extras for little kids to do (maybe some balls, finger paints, and lolly bags). I'm also going to ask people to supply their own food and drinks, but if they'd like to share (as children often do), that'll be cool too.

I'm thinking of making it THURSDAY FEB 23 from 11am to 2pm (so that a picnic lunch can take place at a perfect time of day). People are welcome to come and go as they please however, of course.

I'd be interested in coming. I'm a young mum-to be (due April 25th) I'm still working atm but have Wednesdays off so could do that day or a weekend day. Being new to Brissy I would love to meet some people around my own age.

I'd be interested (if it's indoors - I'm not into parks etc as bub is too young for that). I'm 23 (just make the cut!) :smiliedance:
