View Full Version : am i feeding too much
my dd is 10 months old, when she started on solids her poo went solid (sorry I know this is gross). Lately due to teething (i think) she has been wanting to feed alot, instead of her 3-4 feeds she has probably been getting 6-8 a day!
Now I have noticed her poo has started to go back to what it used to be before she started solids...
has this happened to anyone else, is it a sign that I am feeding her too much- or should I just not worry about it??

Hi, my bub is 8 months old and I have not had this problem, however I strongly believe in letting your baby guide you and I wouldn't worry, as they say babies rely mostly on milk until they're 12 months old, and I am sure she knows what she needs! Maybe it's less painful to drink milk than eat food while she's teething. I have never heard of a baby suffering from getting too much milk! And it's so hard to know how much they're getting with breastfeeding that I guess you just have to trust them. And also, maybe she has loose poos because of the teething and not because she's getting extra milk.
My advice would be to stop counting her feeds.
My DS is ten months old as well and he is on and off the boob all day. Sometimes he snacks, sometimes he guzzles it down and sometimes it feels like he isn't actually drinking, just lying there.
He doesn't have much solids but he has wet nappies and poos regularly and is putting on weight (I think, I don't weigh him either). He looks healthy enough.
They have peaks and troughs in their feeding, more so than we do as adults, they have growth spurts and off days. Its all normal.

You can't overfeed a breastfed bub.
Just follow what your bub wants.
I agree - stop counting feeds.

As everyone else has said ^^^^
If your bubs is thirsty she/he will drink naturally let her have it i did this with all mine when BF and they used to drink on and off, sometimes they didnt have much at all and other days they would stick to set hours etc either way if they wanted it they got it :)
Thanks ladies for the advice!!
