View Full Version : Panadol and Demazin
Just a quick question. Can you give Panadol and Demazin at the same time?
DS is quite sick, stuffy with a bad cough and cries after each cough. We didn't get any sleep last night and I am wondering whether giving some panadol tonigh might help things.
Thanks for any advice.
Naomi
Yes, you can, as demezin doesn't contain paracetamol.
I quite often would give my kids panadol and dimetapp together...

i think demazen has paracetamol in it
check the ingredients and see
if it does i dont think you need to give both
ring a pharmacist
try baby vicks and a vapouriser. im not a fan of giving drugs to kids unless very very needed.

Yes you can.
Ezaria is very sick at the moment, she has croup and a bad cold, the hospy doctor told us to give her both.

Thanks everyone. There is no paracetamol in Demazin, so it should be fine.
I have had the vaporiser running not stop for the past four days and my poor little man is not improving. I'm sure the vaporiser is helping but I just think he is in the thick of the cold right now. He is prone to bronchiolitis too. If only there was a way to stop them feeling so miserable and sore!
Thanks for your advice

When DD#2 was a bub, if I gave Damazin and Panadol at the same time, she would spew.
They are not supposed to interact, but every time I gave them together, that is what happened.
If I left it 30-40 minutes between the two, she would be fine.
yes you can give them (panadol and demazin) together. Its fine to.
Have you raised the head end of the bed to help drain away any snot, etc from your child?
Also, fess is great for getting rid of the build up of snot in the nose. We have a spray bottle which is aimed at adults buying it, but its fine for kids to have also- we have found that the kids will let us spray the fess up their noses as opposed to the drops.
put vicks rub on their feet and their singlets- helps keep them warm and inhale the vicks to help clear out the nose.
Goodluck, keep the panadol up, try to get some rest if you can!

you can also use dimetapp with panadol I am doing that at the moment and the chemist lady said tht was fine.. Dimetapp works wonders in clearing the nse im going through the same thing:hugs:
anyone know whats the difference between demezin and dimetapp?
Yes, you can use Demazin with panadol.
Just went yesterday to the Chemist, to get some Demazin for DS2 and he told me, that you can give Panadol at the same time.
Thanks again for all the replies. I gave him some panadol last night and he was only up once in the night. Poor little man sounds terrible - his voice and the rattle in his chest, but he seems a little happier and less congested in the head. Hopefully we are on the mend! Lots of Hi 5 and cuddles for Nick today (then I can chill too;) )
I will try the Fess, although he HATES me touching his nose at any time!
The Dimetapp is meant to be basically the same as Demazin but has a different antihystamine in it. I tried it once with DS and he came out in a terrible rash all over his chest and face. The Dr said it was probably the colouring as the antihistamine should take away such a reaction, not cause it... I guess we'll never know really!
Thanks heaps again everyone, it is MUCH appreciated! Great to know I can count on the collective genius and kindness of you all.

my kids have had both at the same time with no problems either :)
They told at the chemist I could give Demanzin, Robitussin and Panadol at the same time. Layla has a cold/cough now and has been very grumpy. He said it shouldn't be a problem and it hasn't been so far. She likes the taste of Demazin (blue) and Panadol but hates the Robitussin.
anyone know whats the difference between demezin and dimetapp?
They do the same thing, just different active ingredients....
You can give dimtapp/demazin/paedamin with Panadol. On kids medicines ALL active ingredients are listed on the front...they HAVE too...so you can make sure you are not doubling up MOST times (I stress most) by reading the label......
