How Long??

Hi

Just wondering for those breastfeeding people out there how long their baby has gone without a poo?

EJ (10 weeks tomorrow) is going through that bowel change stage that breastfed babies do and pooing real irregularly - The CHN said that 8-10 days without a poo can be pretty normal when soley breast fed.

She's now up to 11 days and Im taking her to the docs tomorrow just to check all is ok though shes fine feeding well keeping all food down and playing lots though has a little stomach pain i think but then again she does get a lot of wind. The longest she has gone before was 7 days

Just wondering how long others babies have gone for when going through this stage?

Am I worring too much on the 11 days?

Harry went for about 10 days once. I would be taking Bubba to Dr to after 11 days, just to make sure

I was told anything up to 10 days was "normal", so I guess some kids go longer without a problem. If you are worried, the doc is a good idea. I think my kids only ever went 7 - 8 days, but how I loved that stage :D .

Yeah DS went about 7-8 days and was really cranky on the day that he would do it... So I could generally pick the day he was due to poo and I would stay home, becuase it would horrible...:eek:

If you are worried, head of to the docs, its not going to hurt and will at least put your mind at ease...

I took her to the doctors and she's fine no obstruction or distension.... He said to bring her back in a week if she hasnt done anything though he thought she should do something soon.

I hope she does soon cause I can imagine the smell when she does do something and the longer its in the worse its gonna be :eek:

Just an update that after 12.5 days last night she actually did a small one (normal sorta) though has had real bad wind also so shes been real uncomfortable and was groaning a bit last night and today:(

Im hoping Jacksmum that cranky is a sign cause she's been real cranky today....

Oooooh I hate constipation!! The longest J went for was I think 15 days but around 10 was "regular" for her and it was awful!! She'd cry and cry when she finally went and be really miserable and sleep badly for days before - it was torture!! I hope this was a one off for you! :)
