Hi Everyone,

i am a 1st time mum and coming up to 11weeks, due 12th August. i am moving from Sydney to Perth with my partner at the end of April and am wondering if anyone had any helpful info on what hopitals to book into for when bub comes. i have heard that King Edward Hospital is good (but not too sure - want a few more opinions). do they also take public patients?. i will be approx 27 weeks by the time i get to Perth and a bit anxious about the move, leaving family support and having bub in a new state!

King Edward is an excellent hospital from all I've heard - I have freinds and family in Perth who have been there and they all speak highly of it. It is a hospital exclusively for teh care of women so I think that has to be a plus! And you can definately go public. Sorry, I don't have any info to offer on other hospitals in perth. Good luck with the big move and the impending arrival of your little one:D

Hi Kat, at KEMH i am pretty sure they take public patients.

It is the only hospital i will be delivering at! Even if we end up over east, i am flying back for birth. I won't have it anywhere but WA.

Good Luck & try looking in Ob/gyn threads, there is some helpful stuff and at the bottom you can change the posts to get not just recent but old ones aswell

Welcome to Bubhub, and good luck with your move to Perth. We just moved from to Melbourne after 4 years in Perth. Loved it there and am missing being so close to the ocean :(

As other's have said, King Edward (KEMH) is the main women's hospital and you can definitely go public there. KEMH also has (I think) the best equipped neo-natal ward for premmie or sick bubs. I delivered at St John of Gods in Subi (which was great but is 100% private) so can't tell you much about KEMH specifically.
