was going to say something similar... when I breastfed I could not sleep on my tummy it hurt too much!

I meant can go out without bringing the baby (that was me who put that number 14) and knowing she will be ok with someone or even go on holiday and knowing she will be ok that sort of thing is what I meant :thumbsup:

I have bottlefed two of my babies from the first week (I tried but it didn't work) and breastfeed one of them. I beat myself up with this last bub that I couldn't breastfeed him but the facts were that I couldn't. I too was in tears, for months, about it but you know what? He is a big beautiful bouncing boy, healthy and happy and it hasn't made any difference that he received formula. Truth be told my skinny little whippet who had the excema and asthma is my breastfed baby.

Four Angels.. I have known many brestfed babies who have been extremely sick. No it is not just yours..I can count on one hand the amt of times my three altogether have been sick in the last 7 years!

Thank you ladies for this thread. im a bottle feeding mummy because i had to go back to work when seth was 6week old as hubby didnt have a job to go back to. im not a full time working and money earner for our family. Seth hasnt once got sick he is 9months old with gorgeous blue eyes :D like mummy. So in this case im really glad that i was able to give my son formula so i could go back to work as we needed the money so that can be added to this great list :D tried expressing but eventually lost my milk when he was 8weeks old anyway.

Same I hated bf in public and also when we had visitors, I was saying in my mind 'go home coz I want to feed the baby.'
I had to stand up in a train once and bf Hayley, maybe other people don't have a problem with that but when noone offers you a seat and they can see/hear that your baby needs a feed, that gets me really mad. :mad:
One time I was trying to get Hayley to latch onto my breast, I was sitting outside Coles waiting for Grant to finish work (he used to work at Coles) and this lady came up and was ooohing and aahing over her (she was about 2 months at the time) I am trying to unbutton my top, Hayley is screaming and this lady is right in my personall space, I asked her niceley to move away (I was already stressed with a screaming hungry baby) but she just kept yapping on. She was speaking in Greek so maybe she didn't understand me but I kept trying to move and she just kept coming closer. Drove me insane. :banghead: There aren't always feeding rooms when you need them.

I can so totally relate to this as I felt with both my bubs that I was about 5min away from PND, this is the main reason I chose to bottle feed, I am sooo glad that I wasn't the only one who felt like that. (I suppose at the time you feel like your the only one).

This is an absolutely fantastic thread. I have already added my contribution earlier on and I am just amazed at the amount of positives of bottlefeeding that have been added.

My 7 month old has only had the sniffles once and she attends childcare reguarly. She is a happy, bright little (chubby!!) girl, and incredibly affectionate.

Well done to all the mums on this thread and those who are bottlefeeding. We should never feel guilty and we are just as good as bf mothers!

sorry to disapoint you hun, but boobies do have human probiotics in them, and way more than infant formula. this is why the formula companies are putting them in, to try and emulate breastmilk and what it does.

one of the problems so far is that, if all babies need this ingredient, then all babies using formula should have access to it, not just those that can afford the 'gold' formula's that contain them.

I am a breastfeeding mum and just want to let the ff mummies know I think this thread is great I got some laughs from it too we are all mums no matter how we feed our babies they get sick at times either way and I will be ff if/when I ever have another bub Iwill give it the colostrum and maybe express for a little while but I want my next bub on the bottle :yelclap: :yelclap: for ff mummies ;)

I breastfed Jordan for 8 days and nearly all day everyday, he was never off the boob and if he was he constantly screamed. He was getting nothing and not putting on weight. The poor lil man was starving:thumbsdown:

The 2 things that make me happy about my ds on Formula is...
You know how much they are having and the nutritional value bub's gets doesn't change because your diet does...

I was talking to my mum about this and she breastfed me for 13 months (31 years ago) the only formulas on the market then were 'lactogen'... If bubs needed to be bottle fed then mums were given a recipe to make up... Carnation milk, cooled boiled water, sugar of milk (lactose) and pentavite vitamins... obviously a lot different but hey... My mum think's it's great what we have to chose from now... She's a breastfeeding advocate but not an in your face one... She thinks it's great women can comfortably decide to formula feed without the worry of making it up or having limited products to chose from...
