I had my 3 week check up on Friday (due to a 3rd degree tear) and asked the OB to check DS eyes as he had alot of yellow gunk weeping out of both eyes and it seemed to be getting worse and he would be constantly scratching his face. So he had a look and gave me a script for some antibiotic eye drops. I took the script to the chemist where a friend works and went back 10mins later and she asked me which doc i saw and i explained it to her and she said the eyedrops that he had given me a script for dont exist in Australia. Yes you heard me right they dont exist in Australia.

Now when i was explaining to the doc that DS eyes were weeping he kept saying i dont understand and im like his eyes are weeping yellow gunk. He said i dont understand what you mean by weeping cause of my accent. Well at least he was honest that he doesnt understand english (he was indian/sri lankan) but surely he would know if the script he wrote was available in australia.

Anyway my friend at the chemist gave me some eyedrops over the counter and some saline to bathe his eyes. DS has been having the eyedrops every 4 hrs since friday and his eyes are so clear now and he is even more settled then b4 and has stopped scratching his face. Hemust be seeing better too now they have cleared cause when he is awake he is forever looking around even while he is feeding.

Auuugh i wont even go there in regards to the doctor or not giving the right prescription !
My bubs also had a blocked tear duct which is what im sure you will find is the prob with bubs !
It take a while to clear up but just keep either bathing it using the saline which is what i did with every nappy change & it took about 2wks from memory or if your bf use your bm ! Squirt a bit in bubs eye again every nappy change ! Will clear up in no time :D

I was squirting the bm in his eyes and massaging his tear ducts at each feed but they just got worse, the eye drops and saline that i did get have done the job though.
