What could this lump be?

A few weeks ago i noticed a little red dot on my ds shoulder, like a bruise. I felt a little lump under it about the size of a pea. I asked my CHN who had no idea so i immediately took him to the doc's. I now have to wait till the end of July to see a Peadiatrition. My Doc said she was not too worried and said it could be a birthmark type of thing on the inside???
Just interested to know if this is a common thing and has any one experienced something like this?
It seems to be growing in size as he grows iykwim??

Sounds like it could be a hemangioma.

Hi,

We have a very similar sort of thing with my 5 month old daughter except her's is on her nose. It began as a tiny little mark which looked like a bruise and a couple of broken capillaries. It is now covering the entire tip of her nose & has changed the shape of her nose (lump). It has been developing over the last 2 months & has been diagnosed as a hemangioma. We are seeing specialists at the moment & as it's in a prominent position, it will need to be treated with steroids.
Doctors tend not to treat hemangiomas unless they are to become a problem i.e effects breathing, sight etc as they tend to disappear on their own. However it may take many years.
