View Full Version : Are you a GK's fan?
Are you a GK's fan? If so, I would like your oppinion.... I very recently bought the trial pack 1 x Anytimes and 1 x Funtimes and all the bits that go with them. But they don't fit my big 22mo boy. One side keeps coming undone. Hence, I'm not too impressed with them... So, are they worth holding onto for the next bub or should I just sell or swap them?
hi, i have the trial pack and they fit my almost-4-month-old really well.
sorry to hear they don;t suit your bub
Oh hang onto them, they really are great nappies!!!
Sorry to hear they dont fit your bubby!
I'm not a fan of GK's. I only have 2 and they are strictly for night time in our house. I don't like the way they have washed (look old and ratty even though they've been cared for properly and my fave brand of nappies still look like new and have been used for much much longer) and now I find that the velcro isn't sticking very well and they just come undone. DD is only tiny so it's not cause she's too big for them.
I think I'm the only bubhubber that doesn't love GK's though, but yeah, after all the hype about them on here I was pretty disappointed.
i actually love them for their absorbency
but yes,
the velcro is probably THE weak point of them - i always sew them back on ... plus we do have to wear an undie over it,so it doesn´t come undone
however-
hang onto them, they are really great actually LOL

I didn't like them to start with, when DD was about 5 months old. The back elastic seemed to dig in and I disliked how the bulk jutted out the front when she was sitting. I wished they sat below the belly a bit better too.
But now... they are fabulous. DD has lengthened out a bit- is bigger but not fatter at all. They don't dig in around her waist but sit firmly and don't interfere with her tummy when she's sitting.
But they really come into their own when Ronan's wearing them. He is 3 and very skinny. They do up so that the tabs are not far off touching each other (yes he really is skinny) and the leg and waist openings are soft on his bony hips but seal off well.
I know what you mean about the velco- it was soft to begin with, but can come off inside his clothes now, if he tugs at it a bit or even just accidently knocks it. Ariene isn't wearing them much so that the small amount of GKs I have is available for Ronan- but she'd take them off easily if they didn't have clothes on over the top, or they'd come off while she crawls.
I'd hang onto them, even just put them aside if you want, for the time being. Bub has a long way to go in nappies yet!

Wow have any of you that have had dramas with the Aplix contacted Sasha ?
Ive had my GK's for quite a while with 8 of then in a small rotation due to starting with just these & i dont even have dramas with them !
Ive never had them come off or anything unless Boof pulls them of course !
You can also contact her about snaps & whether she is able to do them for you !
ET's mum - What do you mean that one side keeps coming undone, as in it wont stick at all ? If this is the case please please contact Sasha & have a chat with her !
I would hang onto them for the future & give a few other nappies a try. Sometimes its trial & error finding the right nappy for your bubs !
Good luck.
I'd hang onto them for your next bub, for sure. I've only just bought 4 more of them... definitely my all time fave nappy.
Sometimes different brands suit different bubs though, depending on their figure. So they may fit your next bubba perfectly.

They aren't my favourites but they are OK. Any printed PUL is going to fade and look 'old' as someone said, it's not a fault of the nappy brand it's just that cotton prints will fade more than plain polyester.
I have 2 anytimes, and they work fine, the velcro does easily come undone for curious fingers, but even then Lachlan can flick it open.
They have never fitted my 2 year old though, but he is large for his age so that again isn't necessarily the brand of nappy, as he doesn't really fit into many bought nappies these days, it's easier and much cheaper to make them myself. Even the large BP are getting too small for his big butt :o
So I would keep them for your next baby unless you need the money to buy more for your toddler, or see if you can swap them with a hubber for something else :)

They are the only cloth nappy that I kept when I sold my stash, so yeah, i'm a fan :p
Ally I contacted GK's when I was having an issue way back in the beginning and never got a reply to my email. It really didn't say much for me.

Nah - I think he is just too big for them. The velcro is fine. I thought maybe he was undoing them, but I had him in overalls one day and they just popped open as he plays. Thanks everyone for your replies! :)

I was actually surprised ow well they washed (the suedcloth hasn't pilled.
But, I doubt they ill fit my toadelt for much longer. (I only have one GK.)
I dont like how the velcro comes undone when I hold him for burping.
Also you cant stuff them stupid with boosters.

Fair enough its annoying to not get a reply but Sasha was having trouble a while back with her email server.
You should have contacted her again.
Her customer service is awesome ive never had a problem with needing any help she always replies even if its a silly question etc.
I have a bigger child he is wearing a size 3 clothing at 2yrs of age & is 15kgs still wearing his with no dramas besides him being a heavy wetter. I am lucky that Sasha has also made me some GK's in a larger size as she does this if you are willing to be patient & wait. But we still use the standard nappy at home again Anytimes & Funtimes with no dramas.
Of course not even a OSFA nappy is going to suit every child thats why you need to try out various nappies to find whats best for bubs !
I would suggest Peapods if you have a larger child that doesnt fit a GK's as they are very generous etc. Not as pretty but they work !

We have GK's i like them they aren't too bad for a pocket,we don't use pockets that much i mostly like AIO's and fitteds but my mum thinks pockets are easier to put on,so when mum is looking after Sasha she puts pockets on him.

Love them :yelclap:
Have 4 for DD2 and they are one of the top ones, never had a leak ever.
Bought 6 more for baby 3 too.
Also they are Australian, which is fantastic....

I love GK's, and have found their customer service to be nothing short of superb
Any OSFA isn't going to fit every bubba well, but they do fit most.
They fit my 3 year old fine, but she isn't overly big, I can see they may not fit younger kids when they are still in that chubby stage.
I would definitely keep them for your next baby :)

My DS is 19 months and I've just started to find that the velcro 'pops' open on one side like you've explained. I think he's a little big for them now (or we do them up too tight!)
Up until now, though, they've been fantastic, they don't look a day older than when bought (I have 4 Anytimes and 3 Funtimes), and I have barely ever experienced a leak (if I did it was because I forgot to change DS on time). I'm definitely keeping mine for #2, I love them.
They were a little bit of a problem though in summer as DS would pull the velcro off himself. (Next time I think I'll buy some undies to put over the top of them).
But overall  !
