View Full Version : Allergy Testing - What happens?
Next thursday we finally have our appointment at an allergy centre in westmead, after an incident with some peanut butter.
Im now wondering what exactly is going to happen. The letter says it can take from an hour to an hour and a half. I hope I dont have to keep Matilda still for that long cause well .. impossible!
So what happens? Is it like a ***** test?
Think she meant to post P-rick test
Just bumping this up to see if anyone has any info :detective:

I took my son yesterday for his allergy test review.
First we had a meeting with the allergy Dr. She asked what the history was, what things he eats etc.
They then did a skin p-test.
They put a stamp on the childs arm with peanuts, eggs, dustmites etc and then use the vials of each substance on the skin and p it. You wait about 10 minutes to see what allergies or intolerances your child has.
Last time my son was tested he was about 2 and he came back as positive to peanuts, cashews and eggs.
This time it came back as peanuts only. He is 4 now and last time he was tested he was 2.
I now have to take him back in October for another test which takes all day as they will give him some peanut butter to check and monitor his reaction.
Thanks for that. I remember seeing some on tv and was wondering if it was the same. Hopefully we wont have anything to major!!

I hope all goes well. Good luck.
Can I just ask what sort of reaction your child had?
Bloomin allergies:thumbsdown:
She didnt have a really bad reaction but enough to scare the **** outta of me!! She had some peanut butter on bread (she'd had tastes before and never a worry) but where it came into contact with her skin she broke out in hives within seconds. .then she rubbed it into her eyes and such and so they get puffy and red. I ran around to the med centre and they gave her predimix I think. Once a day for a few days. And said get her tested.
She eats everything still . .we've stayed away from the peanut butter but thats it. Havent had anything since so not sure whats what.
