Hi there,

Did anyone see that report on Today Tonight the other night about "Mother Guilt"?

I don't know about anyone else but that report spoke volumes to me!

I get frustrated sometimes that my whole life seems to revolve around being a mum...don't get me wrong, I LOVE being a mum but it would be nice to be seen as someting other than that from time to time. I get further frustrated when the guilt for thinking that way kicks in.

I have worked most of my productive life (since I was 14yo) and since giving up work and becoming a mother (with no immediate view to returning to work) the guilt for not contributing financially also brings guilt.

Was wondering, does this anyone else have these or any other frustrations?

Hope to hear your views.

Hi everyone,

I did not catch the report but i do understand how you feel. I too have worked for a while before i became a sahm. I recently have gone back to work for one four hour shift a week, during this time my husband looks after Kirika. But i do feel terrible about not contributing more finnancially. Then i feel bad about leaving Kirika. So i look at it this way she is only you once so I should take this oppertunity to spend as much time with her as possible. The finnancial troubles are no where near as important as spending time with my little girl.

My only other main problem is the isolation i do feel being a sahm, i dont have many people to talk to and dont know many in the area as ive only been here a couple of months. I do have one friend that i can talk to but she lives in singo and i dont get the oppertunity to go and visit, though i really do hope to change that.

talk again soon

Good to get you a response from you. Where abouts are you? You mentioned that you have only been there a short time. Where did you move from??

Anyways, I hope to talk more with you :D
