I have the artistic talent of a caterpillar on drugs and want to put some groovy appliquet's on my nappies.

Anyone seen a good site with either childrens drawings or proper appliquet's you can download?

you can use cookie cutters for basic shapes, but if you can more detail you can use colouring books.

Try searching for patchwork sites with applique patterns, you might find a few that way.

Google Ottobre it has quite a few funky designs, and in PDF format so easy to download. :)

Ohhh cookie cutters, good idea!

I just get graph paper and draw half a shape, then fold it and cut like I would any sewing pattern... Try simple stuff like animals :)

I had an idea... a car woud be pretty simple... basic outline of a car + different coloured windows and 2 wheels.

If you are doing decorative tabs then what I do is base my applique on the picture eg

elephant (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/elephant.jpg)

cars (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/cars.jpg)

safari animals (http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/hoopdeedoo/animals2.jpg)

OK, i have found some great kids colouring in to use for this but now wondering what kind of material to use. Can i use anything of should it be poly? I will be putting it straight onto PUL.

Sorry to hijack Little Toad, just curious too!

:o Thanks girls, I didn't post pics to show off, just showing how you can use fabrics to inspire designs :p

If you are putting it straight onto PUL then I'd recommend using fleece for the applique so it stays fairly waterproof, because fleece kind of hugs the stitching if that makes sense, otherwise you will need another layer of PUL underneath to keep it waterproof, but it depends on how much sewing is involved in the appique, the more sewing the more holes you make, the more holes the greater chance of wicking through
