Hi Everyone,

What is the best (safest) thing to clean things with that babies will use? Eg, I've been given a high chair that has been stored in a garage for a few years. It is a pretty good one Prima Pappa (well I was told it was good) and still in good nick. I've just washed it with washing up detergent so far. Is that enough? Do I need to wipe it with disenfectant or anything like that? DS is 5 months old.

Also, what about soft toys, hard toys, car seats, swings, cots etc....

Ta!

I would just throw what you can in the washing machine & use a little vinegar ( this is a great natural disinfectant & cleaner ! ) in with your detergent etc. So anything like soft toys, covers etc.
For everything else i would either use a vinegar/water solution to wash it down or otherwise a diluted disinfectant wont hurt :)
Another option that not everyone likes it using some milton as this can be used to soak say hard toys or the likes for an hour & then the rest of the liquid can be used to wash things down.
Ive used both methods with no dramas. :)

we got our car seat second hand and we used hot water and detergent and wiped it down. but well a few weeks ago just before christmas dd has reallly bad dirrahea and it went everywhere in the car. we stripped the car seat of its seat and chucked it in the washing machine on a very hot wash and vinegar. It came out smelling wonderful and absolutely clean and we put out on the line. then we got a hose and some soap and a scrubbing brush and scrubbed hard and then chucked out on a seat out in the sun for 2 days straight and came out wonderfully clean
