View Full Version : What to write in card
A friend of mine sudenly lost her 18 year old son last week. I have spoken to her but still have not sent a card because I don't know what to write to her and her family.
Can anyone help me of something nice to write.

Oh dear ..... so sorry to hear of your friends loss.
When my brother's son died (he was 4) I said something along the lines of ........ 'I am so sorry for your loss, I have no idea how you must be feeling but I am here for you if ever/whenever you need me. He brought so much joy to everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed. This will in no way console you, but he's in heaven now with mum and dad, and they will always look after him'.
I felt awful when he died, but didn't have 1/2 a clue what losing a child would be like until I had my DD. I don't think I would survive the loss of a child

It can be extremly hard to express how you feel in words, maybe you could let your friend know that you are here for them whenever they need to talk, cry, remember or just to be there.
When my DH's brother passed away he said it was really depressing being surrounded by cards and flowers. He would have preferred company. He really appreciated the phone calls and people coming around. A hug can say a whole lot more than a card sometimes.

If its possible I agree.
Thanks everyone for your sugestions.
I had to write a card because we are in different states. I found a nice one with a poem about loosing someone you love.
I took me hours to write though. I just sat there and stared at it. I found it too hard to make sence of what i was feeling for them.
