Florentine Slice
185g (6oz) dark chocolate
3/4 cup sultanas
2 cups crushed cornflakes
1/2 cup roasted unsalted peanuts
60g (2oz) red glace cherries
2/3 cup condensed milk
Put chopped chocolate in top of double saucepan, stir over simmering water until melted, spread evenly over bas of greased aluminium foil, bring foil about 5cm (2inc) over edges of tin for easy removal of slice when cooked. Refrigerate until set.
Combine all ingrediants from Sultanas to condensed milk in bowl, mix well.
Using back of spoon, spread mixture evenly over chocolate base.
Bake in moderate oven 15 to 20 minutes (I used about 180degrees). Cool, refirgerate until set. Cut into squares.
Voila!!! Chocolate used and a yummy slice made at the same time!
This is the only slice I can make and my DH loves it (so that really must be something considering I can't cook!)

Can't see why not -no idea on whether it effects the taste though - wouldn't really think it would effect taste though.
I have a slice book that I can go through now if you like and see what else is there.

Rocky Road :chef:
Billie&Beth makes a mean rocky road!! I'll send her a link to this thread and she might be able to help you out with recipe ideas :)
Something we used to make as kids - chocolate spiders! Basically broken 2 minute noodles, chocolate and some peanut butter. They are more or less chocolate crackles without the rice bubbles or copha.

Chocolate Custard Slice.
Just looking at this and it look yummy - might try it myself.
If can't find these recipies on the internet let me know and I'll type them up from the book.
The book I'm using is called "Super Slices Step by Step". I've seen it heaps around the book shops and some newsagents.

yes everyone likes my rocky road:devil6:
you need
1/4 cup chopped nuts - any kind - i like peanuts or macadamias
1/2 cup chopped jubes - get the soft ones and cut with scissors
1 cup of chopped marshmallows - or buy the mini ones then you don't have to chop big ones smaller.
about 400 grams of chocolate melted.
you basically grease a baking tray with sides doesn't matter how deep as long as it has sides.
then scatter the nuts, jubes and marshmallow over the bottom.
melt the chocolate using a glass/metal bowl over a saucepan of boiling water.
cover the lollies with the melted chocolate - it is easier to just pour the chocolate on and throughly mix to coat all the ingredients with the chocolate then spread out again.
leave on the bench til the bottom of the tray is cool to touch then put in the fridge until set hard.
remove rocky road from tray cut up and consume :devil6:
it is so easy and the kids like helping. you could always leave the nuts out and use extra jubes and marshmallows.

Cooking chocolate is eaten in the same manner as condensed milk is around here... it never lasts long enough to be cooked with! :o
chocolate spiders -
all you need is yor chocolate and chang's fried noodles, you melt the chocolate then dip the noodles in the chocolate, and then put a whole bunch in a patty pan, and put them in the fridge to set, the kids will love them.
the recipe is normally on the back on the chang's noodle pack...
