Did u get a choice of music when you were in labor at the hospital?

DD 1, we forgot a cd so we used one that was there and it was relaxation music which kinda helps.
DD 2, we had a cd but no cd player in room, only central cd player that was played in all the rooms. The midwife asked if the music was ok and u wouldnt read about it - the cd that was playing was the same one as i wanted - cat stevens!!!!!!!

and to top it off - just before i went into the shower forthe last time, the song "here comes my baby.....here she comes now....and it comes as no suprise to me....." how ironic, i gave birth to a little girl and i didnt know that i was carrying a girl.!

I remember that the radio was on, but I couldn't for the life of me tell you what was on at the time. It didn't seem to matter any to me.

We had our hypnobirthing CD repeatedly playing in the birth suite but it wasn't very loud in the bathroom where I birthed.

I also had my MP3 player handy with the hypno tracks on it in case I wanted to shut everything else out and just focus on that.

We had Missy Higgins on. DD was born to "The sound of white" I cannot listen to that song now! It reminds me of the uncontrollable pain!!!

Another one who's daughter was born while listening to Missy Higgins! At 19 months old she still loves Missy and that CD calms her down instantly.

Just bought her second album a couple of weeks ago and have been playing it to DD2 and will play it when in labour!

Missy is a life saver in this house!

We had Jeff buckley, the I am Sam sound track, and missy higgins playing while i was in labour, then when it came to push we were listening to Xavier Rudd. DS was born to Little Chief. That is his special song now. During his naming ceremony we played that while the celebrant poured the water over his head.

the mater mothers had cd player in room, and it had the best ever view from my room!!!!!!!!! was like was staying in a hotel - was in the birthing suite for over 12hrs so was loving the view - and so was the rest of my fmaily who didnt seem to leave me alone. hehe

Now ladies, I am DEADLY SERIOUS about what I am about to say:

I delivered to Satisfaction by Benny Benacio or whatever his name is... more specifically, this part:

"push push push push push push push push"

DS - no music!!
DD - there was a radio in the room and my DH just chucked on the radio to keep us occupied. I think it was on 101.7!! :D

Pearl Jam :D

I sat in silence for half of it until I actually asked if I could have some music on and then as soon as it came on I was much more relaxed about the situation

ETA - DD still LOVES Pearl Jam (not much choice with the amount it is played) and always stops for a bop when it comes on!!

None because all I wanted was silence. I couldn't relax with the music on. The midwife put the radio on and I snapped at her

The Sleepy Jacksons, a bit of Nirvana, some Pearl Jam and oh what else? The Vines, Muse, Sigor Ros... yes I was in labour for some time with Ronan! But for the 2 hourse of active pushing  I wanted NOTHING ON!! Everyone got that fact straight! lol.

With Ariene, yet again, no music. I didn't want it- didn't even take any in with me, especially as I suspected I wouldn't be labouring long at all this that time (and was right).

It's strange seeing as DH and I are so obsessed with music!

Ariene loves to bop around to Pearl Jam too!! Not much choice here either! LOL. I think we have very similar music tastes hun

HEHE. i havent got her 2nd album yet. is it as good?

Yeah I'm really liking it! It took me a bit to 'warm up to it' but I was the same with her first cd too...liked it more the more I listened to it.
DD1 gives it the thumbs up to...she's always turning the CD player on and as soon as the cd stops she goes and presses play so we can listen to it again!
