Hi everyone

Just a quick question, my 3 yr old (who is nearly 4) has a cough and voice is getting croaky! I have tried to give him homemade lemon and honey drink but he doesn't like it. What else can I do? Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks Bekky - I am going to ring the doctors in the morning and make an appointment. The poor thing just sounds so awful tonight:(- wish there was more I could do.

Maybe you could try rub some vicks or vicks baby balsam on his chest and back, also if you have a vapouriser put that on in his room tonight. I found both of those worked a bit for my son, also raise his pillows so he isn't lying flat can help with the cough.
Hope that helps and he gets better soon :hugs:.

Thanks Tan:hugs:. Have the vicks on his feet, chest and back, and have him up on pillows. Do have a vapouriser but it needs a clean, and worry about DS2 - who shares a room touching it - not really anywhere I can put it!!

I think I am doing everything I can for now, its just so frustrating. But please keep the ideas coming everyone - I do appreciate them :hugs:

Hey, you're doing all the right things - getting him to sleep on an angle, keep the room he's in warm, plenty of fluids, panadol if he has a fever etc. I think you'll find that a vapouriser would work well too. You could always move DS2 out of the room for a night if DS1 gets very congested and needs the vapouriser, or put DS1 down earlier with the vapouriser on and then take it out when DS2 goes in.

Thank you for that, might get the vaporiser out today and have a look. I never like it, irritated my throat, but I will see how he goes. We have a drs appointment today - fingers cross its not bacterial, which I don't think it is, but better to be sure.
