Ok. So I'm guessing the pro vaccination people will jump on me for this. But I've decided my son will NOT have the MMR shots when he turns one next month.

I have done a huge ammount of study into the pro's and con's and the con's far outweigh the pro's.

Yes all my other children were fully immunised, but I have to be extra careful with Alexander because his father has ADD and we both feel, along with everything else these immunisations can cause, the risk isn't worth taking.

Believe me, this decision wasn't taken lightly. I have a link here for all to read if they wish. But this wasn't the only source, its been months and months of research to come to the best decision for Alexander.

Good on you

Don't let anybody make you feel bad for, or question YOUR decision, beause its YOUR decision.

As long as you feel comfortable in your decision, then thats all that matters

Um, no. No jumping on anything. You are the only one who can make the decision. You do what you think is the right thing for you and your child.

My son has ADD and I don't feel that the immunusations affected him in any way.

But I would also loke to say that I believe immunissing your kids is a personal decision and not one that should be forced. It really is one where only parents can make the decission for there own children and should not be swayed by other peoples opinions. There are risks on both sides and noone can know what will happen in the future. Pity there wasn't a way of being able to tell if your child was going to have a reaction or not. All my kids are immunised but I was still worried every time that one of them could be the one to have the bad reaction. I wouldn't have let any one force me into making a decision.

Did that make sense? It always sounds different in my head.

I choose to vaccinate, but I would never diss anyone who's done their own research and come to an informed decision (what ever that might be).

And MB, I love the photo of Alexander in your avatar, what a cutie.

Also, I've moved this to the immunisation section to keep all the good info about vaccinations in the one spot.

Cheers

Thank you xkwzit. I'm bloody terrible at finding the right section LOL And thanks for the Avgtar comment, I adore that pic.

Yes immunisation is a very personal choice. Alexander's dad is very ANTI immunisation, but he agreed with me to have his first three shots because there wasn't much tht could go wrong with those./ It was the MMR shot that we were very concerned over. I hope I've made the right decision for Alexander. h

I chose to get the Immunisations done but I'd never jump on you for making your own personal choice for your child. Good on you  Everyone's right, only a mother knows best

Hi Moon!!!

As everyone else has said, its your decision to make based on whats best for your individual child.... and the fact that you've thoroughly researched just proves what a wonderful mumma you are!!

Isn't it crazy that they are almost one already!

All the best!

Hey Kaz. What a year it has been. I feel so very blessed for this little boy to come into my life. He is amazing., He teaches me something new everyday. Where would i be without him? Silly statement maybe?

Oh but can someone tell him that sleeping through the night is a good thing LOL. Being 44 with a baby who doesn't sleep is very very tiring, but one smile fronm those cheeky chops and i melt LOL

What a legend!!! 44 with a 1 yo. You rock. I am 44 with a 3 yo (who still sleeps with us horizontal style:D ) so I miss out on a bit of sleep too.

All I can say is good on you for doing the research and coming to a decision you feel comfortable with:thumbsup:

Thanks for the link- We researched vaccinating my DD before she was born when we had to sign for the vit K and Hep b one they get first and I really didn't want to go ahead with it at all, my hubby though thought that we should, so in the end after being told that we will be discrimiated against at daycares and schools I also ended up agreeing to vacinating her.

She is 10 months old and I am dreading the MMR vax...I have read some terrible things about it. In one book I have it says to request from the doctor to have the injections seperately rather than all three in one, it was something to do with the agent combining them that can cause problems. I asked the nurse last time I saw her and she said they do not offer that!! So now I am thinking I am not going to get it done........I just am so unsure. I have also heard that if she is playing with a child that has just been immunised she can contract a virus off them, which scares me aswell!

So to all you parents who have not vaccinated are there any repracussions? Will your children be turned away from schools?? Does that really happen, like I have been told? :banghead: Help!!

 Hi Nic28,not at all your child will not be discriminated against they are not allowed. If you dont wish to go into it all then you simply say because of complications we had to do our daughter homeopathically which is working wonderfully for her and leave it at that. It is none of their business and they arent allowed to discuss it with other parents so you have the right to privacy on the issue. Your child is not at a greater risk of contracting any diseases from hanging with vaccinated children,i have 6 un vaccinated children in my family including my daughter and they have been exposed to children with all sorts including the chickenpox over the last few months and never caught it from them.
And i certainly wasnt worried if she had because im not bullied into their scare tactics that she will get it worst than others who are vaccinated.
But please do not make your decision by thinking you will be bullied or harrassed for your decision. The vaccinations are NOT compulsary and you have a CHOICE.:)
