Grrr!!!
I SO love these nappies...
But the bamboo inserts (which should be fantastic!) are leaking before the moisture has travelled towards either end of the insert first. So she leaks after one wee and ALWAYS when we are out!
:banghead: :banghead:
Just wanted to get that off my chest!
Anyone else having similar probs?
I might go back to just using the hemp inserts with bamboo as spares, instead of the other way around... maybe that will work better :detective:
My Itti Bittis leak first wee too Em, but we use the hemp inserts. :( I have no idea what to do either.

Sux, huh?
I'm falling out of love a little with these ones *sigh*. And I blabbed soo much about how I like them during a recent re-stock, so now I feel bad, lol!
maybe if you 'tuck' the bamboo insert in the shell a bit more?....the bamboo is pretty thick-maybe it makes the nappy gape around the leg a bit.
bummer tho..I still love mine but my baby is a bit younger. The wee always stays at the front tho but maybe that is more about my bub!

I tried these (borrowed one from a friend for a week) and found that it leaked too. Was glad I got to try them before purchasing any. My friend loves them though and rarely has a leak.

Maybe it has something to do with the bamboo. I am having similar probs with some home made AIO's.
They are bamboo and the wee doesn't seem to travel up the ends of the soaker pad. Mind you we are not having leaking problems, just getting 1 super soggy bit and the ends dry.

Mine aren't leaking...
Do you put the fold-up one on top of the hourglass-shaped one?
I found that they work way better with the hourglass-shaped one ON TOP because it seems to have a fleecy top.
That said, I dunno whether mine is bamboo or hemp... I guess hemp because it's not soft like bamboo.
Maybe you could try a fleece liner... they wick the wee away quickly so hopefully no more leaks...

how many times have you washed them?
they dont leak on DS but the poo always come out the side which is a pain!

Yeah the hourglass on top as it has the fleece already to wick away the wee. Still makes no difference to us, and we have 2 different ones.

Mine have been washed plenty of times, they have been in a pretty high cycle as they are good for hubby's and grandmothers LOL ;)
I use an extra booster in them as well and still find they get soaking very quickly (I mean wet to touch on the outside) It is SO frustrating because they are so trim and good for under winter sposie-designed clothes. :(
I have one too that has leaked everytime I used it, was told by all the itti lovers that maybe bubs is still too small for it, so have put it away for now...

Thanks guys :)
These have had plenty of washing, dozens of washes.. but it seems that some of you have similar probs...
I do get a bit of wing-droop because Ariene is not quite 10 kilos and is in a size large... maybe this has a bit to do with it? Also... just had a thought... maybe the elastic is getting saggy... :detective: Far out, more nappies of mine with saggy elastic!! I wouldn't be surprised at all.
Yeah, the bamboo is a bit thicker then the hemp and clothes may be getting into the gap created and moisture could be wicking straight onto her clothes from the bamboo.. Although I didn't think it could be that gapey...
Ah well. I agree with you nuddle, perhaps she'll fit them well when the wings aren't overlapping and she's porked up a bit

Yep I would agree it's the shape. Lachlan's large hasn't leaked, but I could see how it would because it's quite big around the leg area. The medium is really small in the rise, it only just covers his bum (lucky he has a small bum), but around the legs it's perfect.
The fleece is a little thicker then I like too, so I think that would make it harder for the wee to go through to the bamboo
Yep I noticed that my new IB 'boos have been a bit leaky, compared to my older hemp IBs...They're all the same size so I thought it was just because the 'boos were new, even though they've been washed plenty of times now.

My daughter is just over 9 months and I put her in a large.
But I think I will find that as she gets bigger they will no longer fit.
I think they need about 2cm on either side of the crotch to fit bigger bums.
When she grows out I might just try wipping up a few with a wider crotch.

What if I replaced the elastic in the legs of my IB AIOS? Maybe that would pull the legs in tighter and stop the thicker bamboo inserts creating a gape? :detective:
What do you think, Em and Hannas Mum? I can't quite see how the elastic in these works compared to BBs though...

the other thing with bamboo is that on its own, its a slow absorber like hemp, so unless there's a certain percentage of cotton in the bamboo, or unless theres a faster absorber between bubs and the bamboo, leaks can happen as the wees run out the legs instead of travelling along the fabric

Mine are in the wash as we speak, but I'm pretty sure it's different to the BBH.
Try putting a small face washer in the nappy under or instead of the top snap in and see if that helps hold the wee in before the bamboo draws it in.
