hi all how u doing

sorry to hear some of u are having a not good time

sabby sorry to hear, u not too good and feeling the best maybe if u explain to yiour hubby that u need a break he will help u out

and andrews mum sorry to hear things arent going too well for u lately either

um the mum who asked about the weaning (sorry i 4get who it was)
have u tried the tommietippie bottle i think its called if u havent try that bottle and your baby might take it cause it is the shape of a breast and i have heard before for mums who have been trying to wean there baby that this was the only bottle that worked
so give it ago

i took chelsea today for her 6 month needles well my df did and she was fine and got her weighed and everythin and she is now 6.64kgs which is good she is putting on weight and she is 66cm so iam happy with that shes still small but puttin on weight which is the main thing.
and chelsea is also sitting up sooo exciting on wednesday when it was her 6 month birthday i sat her down and she jsut stayed sittin up she was abit wobbly but now sits up perfectly
awwwwwwwwwwwww so proud hehee

i had mums group at my house on wednesday and one of the mums came over with her baby who had, wat she called was a bug for 24 hours and we were like well u shouldnt have brought her we were ****ed off casue we didnt want to catch it and we didnt want our babies to catch it either.
and the baby had dirahiarria aswell and she sprayed everywhere the dirahiaria when she got her nappy changed so guess wat, yep every other mum got it and a few of the babies aswell which is totally unfair she shouldnt have brought her along.
so the last 24 hours since thursday nite hasnt been pretty

iam just praying that chelsea dont get
its ok for us to get it but not when little babies get it two of the babies have got it so far

anyway i better go off to bed still not the best

take care

Yeah, I havent tried the tommee tippee bottle. I cant find it anywhere up here. But I have tried the nuk first choice and the peristaltic nipple from nuk again i think it is, and then the normal nuk, theres babelle, some disney bottles, some dymples bottles, dr brown's, avent, pur, god knows what else.

Wish there were drs or something open on the weekend here. I cant even take her to the childhood nurse on Tuesday cause Ive got something else planned with Sophie. So we'll have to wait until Tuesday week to see a echn. And I'll try to get into the drs, but god knows when the earliest appointment will be with her.

That's so wrong when people do that. How pi$$ed would she have been if someone did that to her! It's not fair on everyone else - you just don't do that.

Hope your family gets better quickly.

A friend of mine recommended this tommee tippee bottle, the teat has a X for the opening and it will flow as quick/slow as bub sucks - Sam loves them. Only problem is finding them. Coles stocked them and I found one at Big W. I think they are called a multiflow - but take the lid off the bottle and squeeze the teat and you'll see the X opening.

:fingerscrossed: you quickly find a bottle that works.

The only prob is, the nearest big w is a couple of hrs away, and coles, i have no idea where the closest one is. Might have to buy some off ebay. But in a way I think I have tried so many bottles, he wont even try to suck on them, so I dont tihnk another one is going to work.

It seems that Sam's little body didn't appreciate getting his needles yesterday. Poor little thing woke up around 10pm with a blocked nose (no sign of that before then) and a temp. We spent most of the night rocking him and cuddling him propped up in bed with me. Felt so sorry for the poor little guy, screaming and drenched in sweat.

What I'd like to know is how my DH managed to sleep through a screaming baby laying in bed beside him - he'll claim he didn't sleep, but the snoring gave it away! I don't know how he does it!!!!

I'm off to find some matchsticks to prop my eyes open so I can get through my work day. lol Hope everyone else had a better night - have a great day all.

Kazandsteve- Aw i cant believe that lady bought her bub along while it had dihorrea! I hope you are all ok and Chelsea doesnt catch it

MCNmummy- Sorry to hear about your troubles with bottles, James wont take a bottle either  so im just going to keep breastfeeding until he changes his mind. Maybe a chat to the ABA will help?

Nic71- Poor little Sam, how is he thismorning? and poor you too, funny how DH's manage to sleep thru a sreaming baby, is he able to look after Sam while you have a nap, hope things are better today

Well my exciting news, James slept thru last night for the first time in about 3 months, im sure it'll be a one off but it doesnt stop me being real excited about it lol.

:yelclap: Good boy James! Isn't it great when they sleep through!

I got back onto Bubhub to suggest MCNmummy contact ABA too - I emailed them during the week about Sam not wanting to breastfeed and the lady was saying how she was just helping a mum whose baby refused to feed from a bottle - so they might have some helpful ideas. Worth a shot.

Sam's temp is still up - but the snuffy nose isn't as bad, I've just got him to sleep now, so hopefully he'll sleep a few hours, because he was just miserable. DH is only too happy to look after Sam while I have a nap, but I have to work today - so there's no chance for a nap until at least 3pm. So maybe I'll just have an early night tonight. Thank goodness this is a week-end where we don't have any plans to do anything.

Well had a nice shopping trip at westfields for 3 hours by myslef! My loving hubby looked after our little baby! I also got my eyebrows done! Woo hoo!! It was nice to have a breather but I missed Chelsea so much while I was out shopping. It felt so strange. Like I was not looking forward to leaving her and missed her so much while I was out but then all day yesterday I couldn't wait to have some time off. Well I cried as soon as I seen her when I came home. I think going out today gave me a refresher and miss her heaps and heaps!!! I couldn't stop hugging and kissing her when I got home!! I love her sooo much!!!

MCNmummyof2 - I'm also trying to wean her off but I know it would take probably 3 months to wean her off fully. I heard the tommy tippee closure to nature is good and also the Pigeon with Peristaltic Nipple. It's been suggested to me that I shouldn't try too many different bottles. Just stick to one and eventually she will learn to use it and get used to it. I'm just using the avent one with a variable flow teeth. So far she drinks 60-90ml and I'm only giving it to her once a day atm and been doing this for a month. And I don't give her the breast just bec she didn't have enough formula. I give her the BF again until the next feed. Next month I'm hoping to do it twice a day but gee my boobs is going to kill me! Imagine when she gets her teeth!! Owwwh!!!

AngelZara - Goodluck with finding a place!

andrewsmum - That's good you are having a better day today. Hope your boys will be good all weekend esp that hubby is working. Hey do you want to meet up at livo westfields one day? Just pm me when you have time.

Nic71 - Hope Sam's temp goes down and his stuff nose gets better.

AnnaC - Hope James sleeps thru tonight and every night from now on. :fingerscrossed: Chelsea has been pretty good lately. For the whole week she's been sleeping 10-12 hrs straight but then for 2 nights she woke up twice so I guess its not that bad.

kazandsteve - How inconsiderate of that mom! I had mother's group at my house too last wed. Funny that ha, our daughters have same name and we have mother's group meeting at our house at the same time!!

Well when Chelsea woke up for a feed at 1am she nearly ripped my nipples off!! She was sucking so hard that I got a blister on my right nipple. I was nearly in tears when she was feeding, I took her off like 5 times to make sure she would latch on properly but it didn't work so at the end I just let her so she would eventually fall asleep. Well an hr later finally she went to sleep but ouch my nipple killed!!!!

Back again - things still going well here in England England.
G is behaving herself most of the time, she is a very patient and well mannered baby. We have been dragging her from pillar to post and she just keeps on smiling. I am sure she thinks her parents are mad - and she is just humouring us.
Today is cold and grey - not at all summer-ish, even on an English scale (I think Sydney Autumn is similar, but more consistently warm). We have had some lovely days and I know China will be hot hot hot for our fortnight there.
Had the lumpy boob again yesterday but G managed to sort it out for me this morning with her ferocious appetite. I can sympathise with all you mummys who are having feeding issues at the moment.
Take care my dears and enjoy the rest of the weekend. We are going to be invaded by cousins again today and will head out for a pub lunch later on. How english is that?

Hi ladies,

Ahhh glad to see we have a fresh thread, I had contemplated starting one the other day but thought you'd all probably wonder who I was

Well I can sure relate to how everyone is feeling.
So sending :hugs: X 10000 out your way.

Kevin still won't take a bottle, sippy cup or spoon of either EBM, formula or combination. I'm totally stumped and more than a little frustrated. After a few days of also withholding feeds (EDIT:stretching out bf to encourage bottle)I have decided that it is too much stress on him and will try again some time in the future.
My operation is this Thursday so he will just have to survive off solids I suppose.

Which brings me to a question, has anyone with a reflux bub started solids???
Ever since we began (few weeks ago) Kevin's reflux has become out of control. Today I had a panic when he was choking on the floor and I picked him up only to have him power chuck all over me, himself and half the lounge room. I have NEVER seen something like that, it was like out of a horror film. He's kept it up all day and has only just settled off to sleep.

Kevin's gone from waking every 2-3hrs at night to every half an hour the past week, do you think it could be reflux related??

We too have 6 month needles on Monday so will ask GP as well.

The only prob is, the nearest big w is a couple of hrs away, and coles, i have no idea where the closest one is. Might have to buy some off ebay. But in a way I think I have tried so many bottles, he wont even try to suck on them, so I dont tihnk another one is going to work.

Mcnmummy of 2 - a friend of mine weaned her dd of the boob at 6mths and she wouldn't take the bottle so in the end she tried the cup and it was so funny to watch. so you could give that a try see if that works.

nic71 - we tried the vapouriser and it has worked wonders for ds. sleeping much better.

kazandsteve - that lady was very inconsiderate of you all for bringing her baby along. you should tell her that it isn't appropriate to bring her child along when they are sick. i would maybe she needs to be told.

sabby - we all have those times, and i hope all is getting better for you. you just need to ride the wave and do what ever you can to get you through. be kind to yourself and know that every thing will get better it only take time. one day at a time.

we are all sick at the moment. snotty heads all round! yuk!

gave ds his first bit of rice cereal tioday. he loved it when i got the consistency right. he also had a rusk stick and just loved it...

hope everyone is well and having a good time at the moment.

take care.

Such a great feeling being able to breast feed as long as we can... I met some mom's on the weekend with kids 2-3 yrs old and they are still BF them. Wow I say!

Weather here in Sydney is still horrible cold and raining. Can't do any washing and I don't like using the dryer unless its in desperate need.

Tried Chelsea on corn yesterday. She was ok with it. She loves her heinz organic vanilla custard, gel and yoghurt. Going to try giving her paw paw as well.

mummie2boys - hope you all get better soon!
RavenDancer - Crawling! Wow that's amazing!!!

Hi everyone, I'm back from my holiday in Darwin. And I missed all the horriable weather in Sydney. We left the day after it started to rain and got back on Saturday night, and it has not been raining much at our house since then! The weather is darwin was perfect, I was worried it was going to be too warm but they had the coolest weather and even had the coldest day in History!
The plan trip down was so easy. I had both the girls by myself on the plane but they were so great. Elora watched her little personal Tv nearly the whole time as it had lots of kids channels. Elora also thought the juice lady (flight attendant) was great as she gave Elora a glass of juice and she does not get it very offten. Natalia just laughed the whole entire flight. She thought everything was so funny.
The trip was great but it went way too fast. I didnt get time to catch up with so many people I wanted too.
The last few days were very sad for us though as a good friend of mine lost her 18 year old son. I can't even imagine the pain they are all going though. I cry all the time thinking about it, how does someone go on after something so terriable.:gloomy: Life can be so cruel sometimes.

EandN
25-06-2007, 10:50
Oh and Natalia sits up now, and she can clap! It's very cute.
She also does not like any fruit, she crys when I give it too her and is not that keep on much else, I never had this problem with Elora, she ate everything and anything.
She has never slept throught the night but I had got it down to 2 feeds a night and now its just getting worse and worse. The last few nights she has woken up about 10 times. She will only fall back alseep in our bed. Lucky my Partner has been getting up for her everytime the last week! I would be sooooo tired if he had not.

Well Sam seems to be getting a little better - well at least he slept for 3hrs/4hrs/2hrs/3hrs patches last night, in his own bed. Better than the night before where I slept most of the time with him on my chest sitting up in the rocking chair. In between the FESS and the vapouriser - his nose seems to be a little clearer. And his temp is back to normal.

Thank you to all the well wishes.

mummie2boys - hope you all get better soon.
eloranatalia - glad to hear you had a good trip. It's so sad when anyone looses a loved one - hope your friend is doing ok.
RavenDancer - don't they look so proud of themselves when they start to crawl! It's so cute. Hope the packing gets easier.

Have a great week Mummies!

I feel sad that you feel that way.

Why not breastfeed until 2 - 3??????? What makes them too old to have a breastfeed???? There are that many 2 -3 year olds out there that have bottles, yet no one seems to say they are too old.

The recomendations to breastfeed are minimum 2 years of age and the average weaning age worldwide is 4. Just because they are walking and talking dosn't mean they will not receive the nutritional and comfort benefits from the breastmilk.

I have pretty much weaned (apart from an occasional comfort feed when Ozzy hurts himself). He is 2 1/2. That is still so little which I am sure you will discover yourself when Chelsea turns 2 - it's not old at all:no: Breastfeeding may not be for you but I am sitting here with my fingers crossed that perhaps one day when you come across a Mama in a shopping centre breastfeeding their 2 - 3 year old (or older) that you smile at them and think 'that's great that she is still breastfeeding rather than think that what she is doing is disgusting'.

each to their own opinion i guess, my body gave up producing the milk because of the stress i was under with paul going to jail and facing being a single mum for the first year.
It was a hard decision to make but eli's health was the most important and formula was a goddess sent for me.

Im pro bfing and like I said everyone does what they think is best for their bub and yeah if she does think 2-3 is too old hun then thats her choice to think that, you are on the other side of the coin so telling her that you think its sad is a bit harsh. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion no one should be condemed for free thinking.

im tired from packing and dealing with cranky mr eli ah well thats life i guess the sad part is all we have left atm is a loaf of bread and vegimite lol ive had it for breakfast and lunch for the last three days! moving sucks.

iam sorry if i offended anyone,

but yes i thought that when the baby turned one they could have normal milk, and would have normal milk and most mums that i know have stoped breastfeeding the baby when they have turned one.
but just a question if u keep breastfeeding when the baby is 2 or 3 how u going to do that if the child is at childcare or somewhere else.

and when the baby turns one, ive been told also that the baby gets it nutrients from other things other then milk then and i plan to when chelsea is one to be not giving her much milk at all and offering other things.

but like someone said, thats just me and my opionion and everyone is different but iam sure iam not the only one that thinks breastfeeding a 2 and 3 year old is abit old.

once again sorry if i offended anyone

kellie i read your birth story in the trauma section was pretty horrible where did u go to wat hospital?

take care everyone

but yes i thought that when the baby turned one they could have normal milk, and would have normal milk and most mums that i know have stoped breastfeeding the baby when they have turned one.
but just a question if u keep breastfeeding when the baby is 2 or 3 how u going to do that if the child is at childcare or somewhere else.

and when the baby turns one, ive been told also that the baby gets it nutrients from other things other then milk

Yes when a baby turns 1 they can have cow's milk but it is just an alternative to their milk. Breastmilk is made for human's, cow's milk is made for cow's so of course the breastmilk is going to better for them - and it's free ;)

There are a few options of what you can do when a baby turns 1. Continue Breastfeeding, continue baby or toddler formula's or cow's milk. It is advisable to continue on one of those types of milks even if they are getting alot of nutrients from food - milk is still going to be the best source of calcium and all kids need lot's of calcium for growing bones.

As for how to breastfeed a child in daycare or elsewhere - well if you were not there you can just express the milk for them just as you would for a younger baby.

Gees I started a debate about BF again! Sorry guys..

For my own personal thing I don't think I would want to be BF Chelsea when she is over one yrs old also medically I need to go back on my meds asap so that's why I'm trying to wean her off. However I do envy mum's who are able to BF there babies till they are 2-3yrs old.

Well my little princess has slept through 12 hours! Hooray!! :smiliedance:

Then yesterday she slept 3 hrs in her am nap then 1hr in alvo nap. She only has 2 naps during the day and pretty much sleeps through the night or occasionally wakes up one or two at night. She is having solids 3 times a day.

She is holding her round balls in her hand really well. Shakes it and bangs it together. So cute!

No I don't do baby sign but I will teach her how to clap today! I think it'll be so cute. She dances alot though! When she is on the walker (just to sit on) she just bounces and waves both her hands, looks like she is trying to dance. And when she is on her feeding chair she swirls her hands and feet like she is doing the perly shells (u know hawaiin dance?)

She is awake now so I better go.

Have a lovely day everyone!

hey all

yes another debate on bf lol

i agree with sabby, i dont think i would breastfeed chelsea after 1 year if i could breastfeed, but it is the own personal choice of the mother, so up to them.

tahts soo cute sabby, how chelsea and claps
my chelsea loves when we clap and sing to her its soo cute,
and shes feelin alot better thanks guys

kellie-i went to wollongong hospital aswell maybe i saw u there hhehe

but yeah i didnt have a good experience there aswell, i found it pretty unorganised when i use to have to go the clinic every couple of weeks and then everyday and they were always runnin behind and running late and u didnt know wat doctor u were going to get and most of them didnt speak good english.

but with my birth i was induced on the 20th of december and i asked for a epidural and they gave me one which was good but then when it started to wear off they gave me another one before checkin if i was fully dialated and i was fully dialated.

so then they wanted me to push and of course i coudlnt push cause i couldnt feel anything and everyone was getting the ****s and was worried cause she had been in there too long this was like 10hours and then after another two hours they had to suction her out and lucky she was alright cause she also had the unbolical cord wrapped around her neck three times so lucky.

but it wasnt very nice and i didnt like one of the midwifes i had she was the one who gave me the extra epidural then was gettin cranky with me cause i wouldnt push
geeze

anyway glads its over till next time hehe

have a great day

I was generally happy with my birth but it makes me so scared thinking about next time.
What if im not lucky again and get bad midwives etc...:( SCARY! I think im going to have a major anxiety about it 2nd time around, I know how much it hurts now!

Im going to Breastfeed for as long as Zara wants too.
Even if its just morning and night time.
I wouldnt take it away from her b/c it doesnt suit me. (even tho i wouldnt mind doing so.. )

Zara has been asleep for an hour now. Unlike her! Must be this lovely cold, rainy weather. I want to snuggle up too but have uni stuff to do..

I wasnt very happy with James' birth, i was not prepared for having a c-section and was quite disappointed, i felt completely powerless and felt that the nurses werent very helpful and I hated not being able to get up to James. Really hoping for a VBAC next time (also hoping the next one wont be an 11 pounder like James was lol)

As for breastfeeding, i guess i'll just keeping going until either he or me has had enough

James is loving his walker at the moment, zooming round everywhere, he loves the rubbish bin and keeps towing it round the kitchen and trying to take the pastic bag out, he also found the volume knob on the TV and turned it up to the maximum, that'll teach me for being on bubhub

i breastfed jj til he was 17mths, when he gave it up. i was pregnant with number two at the time and i think he was just ready. i cried like a baby when he gave it up. it took me so long to get it right that i wasn't ready but he was. i think that if you can b/f great! the longer the better! but if you can't then you do what you can for your baby. my story would have been alot different if i didn't have the support of my very loving husband and sil (who is a mid wife and also assisted in jj's labour and delievered oj, how lucky am i)

imo i think that what ever you can do to support your babies needs is great. there were times there wheni could have given it up but i persisted and i have two healthy boys.

oj is still feeding and he loves it although i think he might not feed as long as his brother cause he just doesn't seem as interested as jj was.

hope all your babies are well at the moment. oj has just gone to the dr's with dh.

how do you find the walkers? i was told that they were dangerous so i never used one but i was interested to c how others found them? i think it would be good so oj can follow jj around (he just wants to be near him) :)

I;m so jelous of all you breastfeeding mum's. what a pain the the bum bottle feeding is while on holidays! Always making time to wash and sterilize bottles and boiling water ect. I always had to take heaps of bottles out with me because we went out in the morning and didnt come home till night and then i was wash bottles and ect for bed. Natalia drank non stop too. I don't mind bottle feeding most of the time. It makes life easier sometimes (although it sounds bad). I do miss my boobys full of portiable and free milk though.

I think all the mums who are happy breast feeding for 2 or more years, great. I could not do it more than 8 months with Elora, my back was so bad and she was huge.
Seeing a mum breast feed a toddler I don't find gross. But once I saw a child of about 3-4 eat a happy meal, drank his coke and then went over to his mum and pull out her boob in the food court. Thats where i would draw the line i think! I was grossed out then. Macca's and breast milk just dont seem to go together. :p

mummie2boys- I think the problems with walkers can be if theyre not supervised if you have stairs etc, also i think it can encourage them to walk on their tip toes(which my DS doesnt do) which can be bad for their development (i think the same for jolly jumpers, but i have one of these too Bad mummy that I am!:p )But i think both things can be great if used in moderation under supervision, just common sense i think, theres probably other reasons too that I cant think of at the moment.

Just been to the post office and this old lady says to James "aw has mummy taken you out in the rain, you poor thing?" I was thinking gosh if we still lived in NZ and didnt take him out when raining he would never leave the house

Speaking of babies talking is anyone else teaching baby sign to their little ones??

I have been teaching my twins to sign since they were 3months old but due to the lack of one on one time with them, I don't get to do it as much as I like!! With Andrew, by the time he was 12months old, he had about 10words in his vocabulary but he could sign about 30 other words!! We had a few picture books and I would point at the picture and sign the word. *I'm deaf and sign with my deaf friends* If you don't know sign language, that's okay, just make it up as you go along...

Must be this lovely cold, rainy weather. I want to snuggle up too but have uni stuff to do..

Lovely?? I wouldn't call this cold, rainy, gloomy weather lovely!! I thought uni was finished?? As most of my friends are now on uni break.

 CLASSIC!! Gee, the old lady probably would have had a heart attack if she found out where the twins have been this morning!

Andrew has asthma, we've always thought so but it was confirmed at the dr's yesterday. So while it was an expected diagnosis it's still a shock. My little boy...

I feel like I could sleep for a week. I'm sooo sick of getting up in the middle of the night for the babies AND Andrew, that I'd love for just one night not to be interrupted as I love my warm snuggly bed!!

Hope you are all well!

Wow, that's cool!! But generally, alot of signs are very similar to the real thing...

Here's a few samples to get you going, hopefully you understand what I mean:
You can wave hi and goodbye, that's a good start...
Drink - 'hold' a cup with your hand and 'pour' into mouth
Teddy - both hands form the letter C and put on head as though ears on head
Cuddle - cross arms across chest as though squeezing baby.
Milk - 'pretend' you are milking a cow

I'm sure there's a website that will describe it in better way than I have!! Off to have a look!

ETA: You can print this out...(though mostly American signs here)
http://signwithme.com/images/SWM_cheat_sheet.jpg

the one thing i don't like about the rain is getting the washing dry. i don't like to use the dryer to much and you just can't fit a whole load on the airer. Ahhh!

is there such a thing as "auslan sign language"? i had heard about it, but where can i find it? any ideas. will check out those sites.(thanks andrewsmum).

Sure is Auslan:yes: check out Tiny Talk that Andrew's Mum put a link too ;) Sign is very very easier and even easier to pick up if your like me and talk with your hand anyway (anyone would probably think I am an Italian lol)!

You know what I find absolutely amazing is that most babies sign the correct or similiar signs for what they want regardless of if they were taught to sign or not.

I can't think of personals, probably because Jasie wanted to feed from 6pm every 2-3 hours also through the night, can't even remember when excactly.

Thanks for all your 1/2 year birthday wishes for Jasie.

Today we are going to our last singalong in the library.Maybe I 'll try to find one which starts next month in another library. He loves when I sing nursery rhymes and songs to him and sometimes it even sounds that he is also already singing when he drives with us in the car or lies in the snuggle bed or cuddles with me in my arms.

Is playgroup on tomorrow, tea_lady and o'mum?

Oh by the way Kellie (MFA) Courtney got your beanie and she and Eli loves it and took already cute pictures.
She is moving today and won't be on for the rest of the week.

Otherwise we are doing very well, still no crawling or teeth yet.Just made an appointment for his 6 months needles for next monday.Oh I hate the aftermath but so glad that the next one will be still far away.

Oh I 'm doing the sign language already a bit but just bye when daddy leaves for work. Will look into that further.THanks for posting the link.

And regarding the breastfeeding debate which came up again. I will b/f also aslong as Jasie wants too, but breastfeeding after a Mac I find also a bit odd and I won't do this.

Oh it is cold and windy today here in Brissie.

im feeling a bit sad and drained! I need some words of encouragment!

Im back to uni in 3weeks and Zara still wont take a bottle of EBM.

This morning I breastfed her at 7am and then at 10am ive expressed. And didnt give into her.

When she wouldnt drink it, i gave her some apple and then she was bitterly whining. Pulling at my shirt. I was trying not to cry!
Then she drank 50mls of EBM. So yay but also I feel so slack. I just need to get her ready for when I go to uni!

I mean im only going 3days a week and she will miss 2feeds. So she only needs to drink from a bottle 8times A WEEK!

I just dont know what else to do. I dont want to talk to my CHN cause she is utterly hopeless and unsupportive.

Thanks ladies, just needed a vent :)

You guys that are going thru uni at the same time as being a parents are doing a wonderful job, i found it hard enough getting thru uni being single with no kids or responsibilities!

AngleZara- Have you tried Zara on a sippy cup or even a normal cup with you helping? I hope you find a solution to the bottle problem

Things are going ok here, yesterday James was such a cranky pants, it was like having a newborn all over again, he wouldnt go to sleep between 2pm and 10pm and was crying heaps and wouldnt let me put him down, so I eventually put him in bed with me and he eventually fell asleep on the boob in our bed and DH slept on the couch. Luckily James slept all night and seems to be back to his normal self today.

I bought James some winter clothes off ebay nearly 2 weeks ago and they still havent arrived, i emailed the seller twice to ask if theyve posted them yet but havent had an answer

Hope everyones day is going well

Natalia is in size one wondersuits. She is a big baby. Her groth has slowed down heaps now, which is lucky because she would be so huge! Her sister stoped putting on much weight around this age too because of crawling. If she grows like her sister she will only put on about 800g in the next 6 months if that.

My friends son's funeral today. It was in Darwin so I did not go. I don't know how people cope with something like that. I find it hard thinking about anything else and getting to sleep, I can't imagine what his family are going through. And his twin sister, poor thing.

hope you all had a quite night. My first part of the night was awful!!

He woke up at 10:30 at 1 and at 3 pm. I gave him a feed and wanted to put him to bed and he was crying.Normally he falls asleep after 5 min without crying.
Not this time.
I walked with him around and thought he would settle down but he really started up then crying even more arching his back like he was in pain. I gave him the first two feeds some infant's friend to settle him down. Only DP and me together were able to settle him down.I had to wake DP up as I was almost crying myself.
After the last feed I had the feeling he was quite awake and that he wanted to play. I tried to nurse him to sleep but eventually he fell asleep.

I really want to know what the problem was. Oh I also changed his nappy .He had a cloth nappy on which was heavily stuffed to keep him dry. I didn't want to do any further experiments so I put him in a disposable. But normally he has this cloth nappy on without a problem

He is still asleep, DP and I are knackered today.:gloomy:

Can it be the cold?
I put him in a long sleeve stretchies and over that another long sleeve shirt and he had legwarmers on and socks. And was in a grobag which normally keeps him quite warm. And I also wrapped a warm blanket around the grobag.
My grobag is not the warmest one so Im trying to ebay another one a size up and with higher TOG rating.

Or maybe it is the fact that the snuggle bed gets too small for him and he feels to0 restricted. But he is sleeping in it now and it doesn;t seem to bother him.

I feel like a big ? and would like to know what is wrong.

Can it be teething pain???

Hope this doesn't repeat next night!

Oh I think he has woken up

Catch up with you all later....

:hugs: to all

Hi Cordu, Ive PM'd you :)

Also I have just taken Zara out of the snuggle bed and I think it has helped!! To me she feels "lost" in her cot without it tho, but she has slept better ever since I took it out.

It could be teething, it could be the milestones he is reaching!

Wont it be great when they r old enough for us to say "GO TO BED AND DONT BOTHER ME TILL 9am!" hehehe

hope u can work it out xx

Sorry to hear about your night Cordu, its so hard not know whats wrong, wish they could just tell us.

James has decided he hates going to bed at night, he just wont go into his cot and screams and screams and gets hysterical. Last night I ended up just giving up and going to bed as I was getting upset, James eventually fell asleep in hubbys arms, the advantage of our horrible nights is that James gets so exhausted he sleeps all night. I hope this phase passes fast!

wow some of your babies are little, well compared to Natalia. But that is not hard to do.
Don't take it the wrong way though. baies come in all sizes. If Natalia was still only 6kgs I would be worried cause she was born at 4.1kgs. She must be pushing 10kgs now Im guessing. I have to go get her needles done next week, we are a little behind with being away.
Natalia is also the worst sleeper. She has never onse slept through the night. Elora did it from 4 weeks old, but then when she got older was a bad sleeper again. I thought Natalia was getting better and then her dad went away and it stuffed things up. She is now waking up about 8 times a night and will not sleep in her cot more than about 40 min, if that! If I did not have my partner to help me during the night I dont know how I would go trying to look after the girls on no sleep. I looove my sleep.

He is whimpering and doesn't like that at all!

Well I give him another 5-10 minutes, poor little thing feels lost on this cold morning in the big, big cot.

Yeah I know what you mean, if Jasie has cried a lot during the evening he is exhausted and sleeps sometimes through the night.

Hope the next night will be better for us all. I'd rather not think about it.

I have to report a very sad moment in my life:gloomy:

An era has to come to an end. A new one has begun!Life without a snuggle bed. Sleeping in the big cot!!

He is asleep now so I will sadly put the snuggle bed away.
Maybe for another little bub in the future, who knows?

I love my snuggle bed , it was great for moving and travelling. I wish they could make them bigger until bubs is 1 or so.

Oh am I crying now , bye bye snuggle bed :p

Better take a shower while he is asleep

I gave him some infant's friend, I took a bath with him hope it has relaxed him a bit and made him sleepy.

I put him back into the snuggle bed as I looked again and he has still enough room to stretch and I don't bother about a night cloth nappy today , he is in a disposable now.He can't crawl yet so it should be alright then on such a cold winters night.

Hope he will start sleeping safe and sound now.

AngelZara- Congrats on getting the house.

I wish we could afford a house, Im sick of being stuck in a 2bedroom unit, but as soon as I say that DH says about me going back to work and that shuts me up.

Cordu- Sorry to hear about your day, i hope Jasie slept ok for you last night

Welcome to the thead CharlisMum

CharleesMum- Ive heard that if you rock them to sleep they expect you to still be there when the wake up. Will he self settle at all?

We tried to go late night shopping at Pacific Fair with James last night and he was not happy. Then DH got annoyed at James, then we went home without even getting dinner or buying anything. So when we got home I fed James and he went to sleep and slept all night.

Has anyone got any Highchair recommendations? (thats what we were shopping for) I dont know weather to just get a really cheap one that does the job or to spend more.

Off to play group thismorning, looking forward to it as its like having a break even though im still looking after James

James is 7 months old tomorrow, I cant believe how fast its gone

We got a great highchair that actually attaches to your dining room chair - so saves room. It has all the features of a normal highchair - just doesn't take up the space. It is the Fisher Price Space Saving High Chair.

Here it is (http://www.babiesgalore.com.au/view_product_new.php?productid=1937&returnUrl2=%2Fshow_product_search.php%3Fsearchtype %3Dcategory%26categoryid%3D147)

We love it cause Sam is up at the table with us and when we go out to dinner we take it with us.

We got this Fisher Price Healthy Booster Seat. It costs about $59 but can go on sale for $49. This is the one I use for Chelsea and I highly recommend it as it's less space you need to use when storing it later on and it just attaches to your normal dining chairs.

It's also so portable and we take it with us all the time if we are going somewhere to eat like relatives house etc.

With Ozzy I just bought a cheapo from Target and it was horrible so then we went and bought a Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Hightchair I think it is. And he loved it. It has different recline angles 2 toys that are attached to the tray part of the highchair and a removable dishwasher safe tray. Ummm what else - ooh super easy to keep clean - if it's got heaps of food on it you can just take cover off and wash it.

For Elora we have the Fisherprice Healthy booster like Sabby. Its great, I love it. Just brought one for friend last week in darwin as a thank you gift. Your baby has to already be sitting up to use it because there is not much suport. you can take it anywhere. Resturants that don;t have high chairs, friends houses. We used it lots to go to BBQs so we could put elora in it to stop her crawling around on the ground and under peoples feet ect. We just use it as a booster seat at the dinner table now, just gives her a bit more height when eating with us.
For Natalia we brought a Prima pappa diner by Peg Pegero (probably wrong spelling). We got it for $199 on special. Its great. I need to put her up sometimes either away from Elora or when I need a shower ect, because she crawls around everywhere. It reclines so she can have a bottle or a sleep in it if needed. Great straps. Pretty much the safest on the market. Cant get there fingers and stuff caught easliy and the safty buckle is great, easy to use, and cant really get their bellys and stuff pinched in it. It has a few levals too so i put it down when sitting on the floor to feed her and it fits under the table to let her sit at the table with us when having tea or watching us have tea. It folds up pretty well too.

If your in a unit though, one that fits on you chairs already like one ofthe boosters is probably the best idea. and they seem to last for ever. Elora will be in her booster a few more years probably, untill she is a good height to sit properly at the table.

I'd highly highly highly recommend the Ikea Antilop highchair - it's only about $40 and is really portable (legs and tray come off) and very sturdy. We've taken ours with us on holidays and pulled it out at picnic areas so DD has somewhere to sit without getting into mischief! It's also very easy to clean  I wouldn't get anything with padding that makes creases (if that makes sense) because you'll have to clean all manner of revolting food out of the creases!!

Have fun choosing :)

Love the photo's guys, how is it possible that babies can get cuter as the days go by??

Well I had my op yesterday, I'm glad it's over but my mouth is killing me, and because I'm breastfeeding I can't take all of the usual stuff they perscribe.
Luckily Kevin took 20mls of EBM and ate some apple or I'm sure he would have had to start living off his 9kgs of body fat lol.

I had a horrible night before the operation only to put Kevin in our bed and have him roll out :crying: my most terrible mummy moment I must say!

Kevin had his 6 month shots on Monday (a few weeks late) and cut his first tooth on Tuesday and ever since has been saying Dada and Dadeeee, aparently I'm Nuunuu :D

We've just put a highchair on lay-by can't remember which. We were just going to get a cheapie but I didn't like the harness or way the tray is so far from him, ours is like $180?? There weren't that many to choose from around here, and our dining chairs aren't stable enough for one of those adapterish ones.

Hugs to all the mums with sleeping probs I certainly know how you feel.

Kellie: give your DF a good kick up the bum from me ;)

I think this is the printer we have - HP all-in-one fax/scanner printer.
It is an ink printer I think and hence the problem with the ink not setting properly :detective:
Best to use a laser-jet printer when printing on that special paper, we were lucky and used mum's for our wedding invites but alot of places such as newsagents etc will allow you to for a fee.
I hope you get it worked out soon as that paper is darn expensive eh?

Mine does - the Fisher Price Spacesaver Highchair. We've taken it to different restaurants - all with different styles of chair and it's fitted all of them.

The good thing is it tilts back and Sam has fallen asleep in it when we've been out.

Very cute O's mum.

All's settled down in our house again (thank goodness) - DH is over his "flu" (we'd get a cold, but men get the flu lol), Sam's better and DD is on the mend as well. And even better, we take DD to Nanny and Poppy's tomorrow for 5 days! :smiliedance: I love my DD, but I'm looking forward to a few days off.

Mind you we've decided to surprise DD and paint her room while she is away - I've bought her a new doona cover (a grown up one - no more princess for my "little" girl) and some pretty matching cushions. I've just got to go to Ikea to get some shelves and then her room will be perfect. Do you think this will help her keep it tidy?

Yesterday I went on a odyssey shopping spree I wanted to get him long sleeve bodysuit to keep him cosy and warm in the night under his pj. I don't know in how many shop I was but it seems they are not in fashion and neither was there one in size 0, I want it bigger for his big night cloth bum. I ended up getting one so I assume I have to order some more online.....:banghead:

SammieSnail hope that the OP went well and congrats on Kevins first tooth.

Kellie hope Rylan is behaving today. Oh didn't I see on ebay he was up for sale;)

Sorry can't think of more personals now

Hope you all have a nice week-end

Well my Chelsea has not slept thru for the past 4 nights!!

I am going to sound probably a little nuts - but I bet all the babies that used to be great sleepers that have suddenly turned into terrors at night begin to sleep through after tonight I think it is.

Full moon tonight and well our bodies are made up of over 80% water so only makes sense that the bubbas follow the moon cycle.

Thanks Sammiesnail. I asked the guy at the invite shop and he said it would work fine . So I tried for hours to do all sorts of different things :banghead: . Eventually I gave in. My mum has a laser printer ( I remember today) so got that off her and they seem to be printing well now. But another problem with the size on the envelopes! oh well things are bound to go wrong I guess, i better just take it on the chin and get over it.
I figure no matter what goes wrong there is always a solution. If the caterer does not turn up, we order pizza. If my dress does not turn out, I where jeans! haha.

I hope your right about the full moon Oscar's mum! Me and DP need some sleep.

Is anyone considering getting pregnant again soon? A "friend" of mine has a 5 month old and is about to start trying for another one. If anyone is going to have another baby, how long are you planning on waiting?

Greetings once more from England England!
Rest assured we haven't been washed downstream in this part of a very wet and green island, though if the river across the way did flood I'd hope it went over the paddocks on the other side before licking at our front door. No - apparently it doesn't flood round here, too close to London proper for that to happen.
We have had real Sydney winter weather this last week, colder than home at the worst. To think this is Summer, what a joke. I suppose some of you have been watching Wimbeldon and would know how awful it looks.
I gave G a good talking to last night at the dream feed and she slept through til 8am which was just lovely. She has been doing a bit of 2am feeding which is dull, but its pretty unusual really so I don't complain.
G had her first "ride" on a horse on Wednesday - sitting on the horse in the stable at her cousin's place. I wish Dh had had the camera as I was inside reading and pretending I didn't have a baby at the time. It sounded so funny.
G has met a lot of her relatives, and has been her usual sunny self whereever we take her - which is great.
Have caught up on all of you - what fun you are all having with your baby-loves!
Tomorrow we are going sailing (whatever the weather apparently) - yet another first for the Junior Jetsetter.
Take care my dears - hope the weekend is treating you well, and the Little Ones are doing the right thing at night particularly!

Hi all - hope you are all having a great week-end.

We've just dropped DD off at my parents for 5 days - so off to Bunnings in the morning to pick some paint. Hope she likes it.

eloranatalia - we want another bub and as I'm an "older mum" we've decided sooner rather than later. I don't want another bub born in summer, so we're not technically "trying" atm, but I'm not bothering with the mini pill and Sam's no longer BF, so it may be sooner rather than later.

Sabby - children are now well - but DH gave it to me  . Oh well, us mums soldier on. Least it's easier with only 1 child for the next few days. And I have a light week at work next week, so hopefully can get over it before DD comes home.

Sam is still commando crawling - though he does get up and rocks on all fours, then face plants into the mat. Won't be long by the looks of it. Watch out doggie as Sam is just itching to get a hold of you.

Well NIC71 I get called a " young mum" So no one can win really. Is there really a pefect age? My mum had me at 33, she was called a "really old mum" since it was 24 years ago it. My mum was busy having a life and traveling before she stopped to have kids. I decided to do it differently.

Well ill be a 24 year old mum in a week or so. 9th of July, not sure when that is. I never take much notice of the date. But I do love birthdays. Mine have been dull the last few years really. My 21st i was sick all day then i went to dinner with my dad, DH and dads partner and son in -law. I managed to stay out till 8.30, vomited all the way home (morning sickness my whole pregnancy) and then slept. I was 36 weeks pregnant or something.
My 22nd we spent cleaning our house because we were moving. Went to a BBQ for someone elses birthday for about 2 hours and thats it. can't even remember what i did on my 23rd. I remember I was pregnant with Natalia though.

Maybe pregnant for my 25th too, who knows!

:fingerscrossed: You have a better birthday this year - with maybe a special gift as well!

My birthday will now always be forgotten (not that DH really remembered anyway  ), but Sam was born 4 days before my birthday - so I think we'll celebrate his more than mine.:D

Well Lachy was up 7 times last night. We're taking him to a pead to see why he wont sleep. And why it takes forever to get him back to sleep.

We got timmee tippee bottles ordered in at the chemist, paid about $35 for the twin pack of small bottles and the fast teats. Well lachy still hates them.

We tried him on a cup, he likes juice in a cup. But he gets all excited and ends up dribbling it all out!!

Only 10 days till I find out my uni results!!!

We're hoping to try for #3 in 12 months or so. Depends on whats happening with uni. I might put it off a yr or 2. We need to find a private midwife before we ttc as well.

Talking about bdays, I was breastfeeding for my 18th (Soph was 10 days old), was pregnant for my 19th, will be breastfeeding on my 20th, I might have a free year for my 21st!! Though may be pregnant and/or breastfeeding. 22nd, will probably be breastfeeding, same with 23rd, but then Im hoping after that I'll be free!!! lol

Kim, have you sent you an email this arvo, got it today and Jasie had already a test snooze in it.It is great thanks so much !:)

We had 6 months needles today. I chickend out and let the receptionist of the GP hold Jasie while he got jabbed. Poor little bugger he cried a bit and is now whimpering a bit.So far so good!!

His stats for 6 months

65 cm , 7.6 kg and 41 cm head.
Not too big and not to small just right!! Hehe

I haven't started solids yet, Jasie can sit 10 sec maybe unaided yet.

Oh and thanks for the tip to go to Ikea for the sheepskin for the cot , will definately look into that :)

eloranatalia- the young mum thing is a interesting ??, i know im considered the "young mum" in our play group (as i am the youngest) and i think it is amazing what newcomers reactions are when they find out that i have 3 of the little terrors! (oh by the way im almost 24) im now the age my mum was when i was born!

as for the birthday thing - 2003 - i was pg (2 days of delivery to be exact!) 2004 -ttc, 2005 - pg, 2006 - pg! 2007 - BETTER NOT BE PG OR I HAVE SERIOUS PROBLEMS!! lol

other than that...
we have another weigh-in in the morning :fingerscrossed: for us! and i do believe hayden may be teething! (omg i now have 2 of them teething!) he's sitting (for a few seconds!) and is commando crawling! and rocking! - wont be long and he will be crawling!!

for me - im looking at going back to work! (yes i know im insane!- but cabin fever has fset in and i want out!) im looking at a 2-8pm job cleaning out on the mine site which should be interesting! - just got to sort out child care, medical and induction! (so much hard work just to get a job!)
i like these hours though, cause the most time the kids are at child care is 2-3 hours a day - then daddy will pick them up!

well i must be off i need sleep!

if it helps my little one went through a stage where she wouldn't take panadol so I tried her on Nurofen for children infant drops and she took to that for a little while. Now I alternate between the two as I really struggle to get medication into my little one. I have found that I give her some water first while she is lying down and then when I take the bottle away from her and her mouth is open I push the pain releif in really quickly so she has no idea. I have also been using the hyland teething tablets when she runs a temp as they really calm her down....hope this helps.

we are all much better now. thank heavens!!!!
thanks nic71 for they well wishes.

we are having all the cousins over atm as it is school holidays and jake just loves it. it also gives me a help as they love looking after owen.

His fever is down and he was already playing in the gym so he seems to be over it. It just breaks my heart when he is sick and not the usual himself.

Ummm I think the brand is 'Chemist's Own' but if you go in and just ask for the generic brand panadol they will be able to show you the ones I am talking about. They are not as strong flavoured the generic panadol.

Thanks for that, I'll ask when I am at the chemist again.
I hate giving him medications, that why I don't want to try ibuprofen, must be quite strong stuff if it works already after 15 min, I read up about it.

sabby; glad u had a nice lunch

Well just had a scary phone call from my sister in Paris.
When she left for Paris from London her boyfriend said, dont wear ur thongs, put ur joggers on and take a backpack, leave ur suitcase here. So she did.
Once she arrived in Paris she got on a bus. Then the bus was going through a tunnel and a car in front of the bus burst into FLAMES!!! She didnt know what was happening. The bus driver told everyone to run for their lives.
Megan jumped out of the bus and started running with 100's of other ppl. She said the black smoke was so bad she couldnt even see where she was going and she couldnt breathe. She doesnt even know how long she ran for...
She is happy that she wore her sneakers and backpack now!

She has had to go to hospital for smoke inhalation but she is fine.

we are going to the doctors tomorrow and getting our 6 month needles. yuk i just hate it.

oj has stared solids and there is just no going back, he just loves the stuff. he has wolfed down everything we have given him. not like his brother who when from breast milk to steak and now he is really hard to get him to eat alot of diiferent things.

oj said "DADA" yesterday and again today.:yelclap: so it wasn't just an accident. so daddie gets the first word again, as jj said dada first too. bloody daddies boys. well he can have them at two in the morning when they are crying.

how exciting they are just getting so big. oj's first 6mths seems to have gone much faster then jj's did.

we are planing oj's baptism at the moment. we can only get in, in september and we booked it when he was first born, so many babies being born. lots of fun.

A_Z - your sister is going through the wringer isn't she - no such dramas for us this side of the Channel. It does make you wonder about the world though doesn't it.
Today G's Great Uncle was down from Scotland and flying back tonight from Heathrow, which is an enormous mess at the moment, with one terminal closed. We are hoping it is all systems go when we fly out in 2 and a bit weeks. Well, at least we're not out clubbing (can't imagine it at all at this point in time).
Yet another pub lunch for all of us today - G is very good when it comes to meals out, which is just as well seeings they happen nearly every day!
She is rolling around the lounge room floor here, and it is really her bed time so I suppose I should get DH to take her up (he really is a good man).
Weather here is still, as the weather woman said the other night "disappointing"! I love the English psyche!
More news before too long!

hi quitecontrary, sounds like "beautiful" weather over there aswell. it's great when you can takes your little rugrat out and she behaves it makes for a much more plesent time.

kaz, oj started to yell and "talk" really loud then we just started saying names to him and he has just picked up dada.

i fed oj more solids last night and he only woke up twice once at 12am and again at 5am. which is good for us as we are usually up at 9pm, 11pm, 1.30am, somewhere around 4 and then again at 7.30am. so mummie is loving the 4 hour block of sleep i got. now i just have to go to bed earlier (ha! like thats going to happen).

hope all babies are sleeping soundly and you mummies are getting some rest as i am now hopefully (knock on wood).

take care, kell :)

Well I officially hate my ECHN!!

I went in yesterday. Told her Id been to the dr and she said his skin wont get better over winter, so we just need to get it the same so we dont have to jump hoops in summer, and that his weight is fine. Its on the lowest percentile, but hes just a little kid.

She thinks I need to get a 2nd opinion. Not going to happen.

She asked me about breastfeeding, told her I was still breastfeeding. So she said 'oh your doing extended breastfeeding then' She asked me how long I was going to breastfeed, I said as long as he wanted it. She asked what my cut off was, and I said 4. Her face just dropped (it was classic!!) According to her, breastfeeding after 6 months isnt beneficial. Kind of pointed out the WHO that reccommends breastfeeding till 3. She said thats just for babies that dont eat well and ones that are in 3rd world countries. Because they cant get good nutrients from food.

At least shes decided to refer me to the day stay. Except they had no places left for today, so I'll have to wait till the 1st of August. But apparantly hes not sleeping well cause hes on the boob. Idiot.

She doesnt think him being unsettled is because of food intolerances (every other medical professional has said its most likely!) She thinks I should introduce dairy just to see what happens. I dont know how this woman hasnt been deregistered.

Well on another note, I was talking to some of the girls in the waiting room at the ECHN that have had their babies in the hospitals around here. Both of them have aging midwives (ie - noone under 55 or so!) so you have to give birth on the bed because they cant bend down! Thought soo happy that andrews agreed to a home birth! Though we still have to find an affordable midwife.

Extended breastfeeding:laughing: did you laugh in her face (INSERT ROLL EYES)

That is great that you got into the day stay - not good though that it's in August.

um, hayden has been back on full booby feed for a few days now (almost a week now) and funny enough he still seems to sleep the same as he did before when he was having the 2 bottles a day (oh and by sleeping fine i mean he gets a feed anytime from 9pm to midnight(depending on how hunger he was at dinner time - or should i say how many times he comes back for seconds!) and then sleeps till 7am!)

some of these nurses are too old and need to update their memory banks! - get with the modern day mammas woman!!!!

again my chn suggested the rice cereal, and i said i did try and he wasnt too fussed, and i looked at the nutricianal (ok bad spelling today) panel, and thought he will get more benifit from a extra botttle of formula a day!

hey i also looked at the who growth charts (and the one in the red book) and he is under the 3rd percentile on both charts, and that is with his adjusted age!!!

any way must go, he is trying to stick his head thru the gate bars! (sadly i think if he push enough it would fit!)

AngelZara- Wow what a scary phone call to get, glad you sis is ok

Mummie2boys- Yay for oj talking

kaznsteve- glad your all over your gastro and able to get out and about again

Quitecontrary- Good to hear from you, G sounds like such a delightful wellbehaved baby, glad you are enjoying your trip

MCNmummy- Glad you have an appointment with the pead, see if you can be on a waiting list so that anyone cancels you can get in earlier

Things are going ok here, although James is getting so frustrated that he cant crawl, he pushes himself up and rocks back and fourth and then goes backwards so ends up not being able to reach his toys and gets upset. Is there any way I can help him to crawl? Everyone says he'll be crawling soon but hes been doing this for ages so I hope theyre right as its making him so grumpy lol

i know what you mean about the memories!! lol, i just cracked up laughing at the fact that hayden should have been one of the last babies to be born in dec, but was that first - and at that he didnt even come in dec!!! lol

Oscar's Mum I know G was the last in the long line of "Dec" babies way back then on the 12th of January!!! I think I was on our last list - she came in at 10.10 pm at 3.355kg - after two long induction attempts with no movement at all she was a caesarean section.
God, it seems like an age ago in some ways.
I'm with you angel_one, G should've come in December and came half way through Jan.
The weather here is still "disappointing" as the weather woman said the other day. Ten minutes of rain every half hour at the moment it seems.
We are off out to London for dinner tonight, with G in tow of course as the in-laws are not up to babysitting the little terror, and she is a star attraction for our friends anyway!
Had her weighed today and she is officially one stone as they say in this un-metric land. Nearly double her birthweight.

get me some too!!! lol i want to go but we have a family birthday party up here and dh wouldnt let me got to brissy just for a baby expo - i even tried the i can go see mu mummy card - and it didnt work!

so ok after 8 months of refusing to be in the bloody sling, hayden has decided today he will sleep in it! - as long as no one is looking at his face (must be covered) hes quite happy

on that note - is it a normal thing (cant remeber the other 2) for them to suddenly become attached to mummy - i mean he wont even settle with dad - will just look at me, and if i come near dad (while he is holding him) hayden will lean over (mid scream) and lay his head on my chest and start sucking his thumb! - i love it but its driving me up the wall cause i cant do anything!!! - then you factor in the other 2 kids - 1 of which i believe is teething and today has fallen over or ran into everything this morning ( i mean every 10 mins he is hurting himself) so hes wanting cuddles, and a dd who from the instant i got out of bed has been driving me mad (shes been into the scrapbooking stuff again - in the wee hours of the morning) im ready to run away!!!

ontop of all that im stilll (yes i know its only 10am) waiting for the pead to call me and book an appoinment - in the mean time, im noticing that all my baby wants to suddenly do is sleep - when 2-3 days ago he would get the ****s if you didnt put him on the floor to play! now he lays on the floor and screams! (oh and it screaming! - after hes been left for 10mins crying it starts screaming)

man i just want to go back to bed !

anyway im done whinning for now, i think im stressing over hayden and thats causing more problems!

oh and happy birthday cordu

Wow, that list really does make me think back to when we were all awaiting our bundles of joy. The time has flown by. Makes me kinda :crying: .

Ds is 7 months tomorrow, so just out of interest we went to the CHN today to get some stats. We has finally hit the 7kg mark at 7.1kg and is now 67.5cm. Although as he has started crawling I expect the weight gain to slow right down.

Anyway must dash, off to Target to buy a safety gate (25% off atm if anyone needs one).

Has anyone elses babies got really bad nappy rash?

Is he on solids or have you changed his formula lately???? Perhaps it is a reaction to something he is eating in which case the creams are not going to help really until you stop what it is that is causing the reaction.

Super Star: Take him to the docs. If nothing is helping it could hae turned in to something worse. When Elora was a baby she used to get it really bad. And once nothing fixed it so the child health nurse said to take her to the docs. It turns in to an infection or a bacterial thing or something. The doc will either write a script up or get the chemist to make a thing up of cream with the right amount of stuff in it.
Hope this helps. Its not nice watching them in pain or sick and you cant do anything.
I just went to a market research on nappy rash and creams actually. brought back lots of memorys of how much Elora had it and how bad it got. :crying:

happybirthday Cordu. Hope you day was great and you got lots of pressies and a nice clean house, and a sleept in! Thats what I want for my birthday next week.

Morning ladies

thanks for all your beautiful birthday wishes.
Big :hugs:

I spent a nice birthday, Jasie was an angel all day and while he was sleeping I managed to bake even a birthday cake which was or is pretty yummy!!

Superstar :hugs: to you and Kyan.
Hope his nappy rash will get better soon , poor little bubba.

This morning he decided at 5:30 that he wants to bounce a bit on mummy , it was so cute. So he bounced for 5-10 minutes and went back to sleep.

He graduated yesterday from the pram into the stroller. I have a pram which converts into one.
He seems to like it as he can see more what is going around.

So I might see you o/mum or others at the Baby Expo today.

Hope you all have a great day

All is well here. K had he's needles last week and is 8.3kgs (I don't know where he puts it!) and 75cm long. So, he's grown 24cm!! My goodness me!

OH wow, seems he is developing well!
Jasie is a little one compared to Kyan, 65 cm and 7.6 Kg.

Get some oatmeal chuck it in an old stocking and throw it in a bath for nappy rash, you can also use face washers on their bum rather than wipes, cause wipes really sting when there is a sore there.

Nice name Nataliarose

Well my Natalia has found some new talents. We have seen her crawl on her hands and knees now but it does not seem fast enough for her so she has this really speedy comando crawl. She sits up. And as of a couple of days ago she pulls herself up to a standing position on furniture.
Today she pulled up on the safty gate and only held on with one hand. Her problem is getting down once she is up. She can not get down she has to let go and then falls and crys, poor thing :( . she is not even 7 months.
I thought that she would need to be carried down the isle for our wedding (she will be 10 months) i think she will be able to walk down. Well maybe holding someones hand.
Sh doesnt really say anything yet. Sometimes copies things though if we say it first.

Its amazing how different they can be, Elora did not do things as early as Natalia.

dd you get lots of freebies Oscars mum? I loved the expo here in Sydney.

Superstar, what MCNmummyof2 saidabout the baby wipes is true. Rather than a face washer which still can be a little ruff, i used homebrand cloth nappy linners. Just wet them with warm water. They are a little softer. I use them alot as wipes. Especially for new borns

Just had to share a couple of photo's of Sam .... he's so proud of himself sitting up! And also his first taste of mandarin - which he loved.

I gotta say...having people here for a couple of weeks was great...i could have a break with bubs which i could not do before as we dont have family around.

Gotta say i brought braden to day care for a couple of hours this week and he was okay with the staff...lets see how next week goes as i go back to work the week after...:fingerscrossed: he goes alright, or am i just being paranoid and he'll be fine but i wont be ... hmm... time to fill out centerlink forms for the child care rebate thing...

He's discovered that he can play peek-a-boo with his shirts so he's been doing that with one shirt in particular...its so cute

Anyways...i will still be around mostly just reading when i go back to work...

superstar jake had really bad nappy rash which turned out to be tinnier the chemist gave me some daktarin cream which fixed it right away. but i only used it the once then i got on to lavender balm. there is a shop at east brisbane called "hand made naturals" corriene makes it there and it is wonderful, bit like paw paw ointment, heals anything.

i to went to expo today. pram rage wasn't to bad. jake was made about dorothy the dinosaur! i got some good freebees and some really nice feeding tops from peppermint maturnity. wish i had gotten them sooner. put one on this arve to feed and it was great, owen has already worked out how they work. he lifts the flap and the milk bars open.

well hope all your babies are going well?

with the pill iam on the pill but iam not breastfeeding but a mum in my mums group is breastfeeding and i know shes on the pill iam not sure wat kind she is on but i can find out if u like

just a quick question with solids, how many meals a day do u have your baby on and wat are u feeding them and how many bottles a day do they have?????????????

i have chelsea on 3 meals a day and she usually has 3 or 4 bottles a day aswell

for breaky i give her some oatmeal and lunch some fruit or jelly and dinner some veggies

is that right??????

sorry jsut want to check

ps: we also went to the baby expo when it was in sydney and it was pretty pushy and crowded we took our pram with us, which wasnt probably a good idea.

and we wanting to have another baby soon, but we not sure how long to wait either cause we dont want to wait too long but dont want to have another one too soon aswell, and we dont know how long it will take cause it took a while the first time and we didnt even think we could have kids

O's mum thanks again for the samples :) I think I ended up with Oscar's drink as well! I hope you didn't miss it too much!

My little man has his first tooth - I'm quite sad about it :o I like his gummy bear look!

Anna, we got a little book about solids from the CHN which talked about quantities I think. From memory, I think the idea is that you bf first and then give them just a couple of teaspoons of solid food at this age. Don't quote me on it though!

Hi all, it's been a crazy week in our household. Too many illnesses and medical appointments lately!! We've had a scare when DH went into hospital for one day with suspected meningitis which thankfully it wasn't, but the Dr's still don't know what's wrong with him. AJ is still recovering from asthma issues last week. Babies and I are the only ones who are okay apart from the usual sniffles.

I've been told that babies 6-9 months old should be having two and a half sleeps during the day - two long sleeps of approx 1.5hours or so and a short sleep of 45minutes. Ha, did my babies not read the manual?? Sometimes it feels as though my babies only have 4-5 short sleeps. Not to mention they STILL don't sleep through the night! I'd love some sort of routine though!!

Solids, well - if you call it a routine - our day seems to go like this:
bottle/short sleep/morning tea of yoghurt or rice cereal mixed with banana/short sleep/bottle/lunch of fruit (pear, apple or banana)/long sleep (if I'm lucky, or two short sleeps if I'm not)/bottle/vegies for dinner/short sleep/bath/bottle/bed.

They get 4-6 ice cubes worth but mind you, I'm feeding two babies this so probably only 2-3 ice cubes each. Their latest (and they love it) is a vegetable mix of sweet potato, carrots, broccoli, cauliflour, peas and corn all pureed up. Hooray, they are finally eating their vegetables!! BUT!!! I'm having lots of trouble getting the orange stains out of their bibs - I'm off to shops today to buy a Sards Wonder Stick to hopefully scrub those stains out!! They're homemade bibs so I really want them back to what they were like before solids haaaa. :o

happybirthday Cordu - hope you had a good day.

mummie2boys - the mini pill is recommended for breastfeeding mums to use as breastfeeding alone is not really 100% effective in contraception or preventing another pregnancy. When you stop breastfeeding you'll need to go back on the normal pill.

kazandsteve - I think you're feeding Chelsea the right amount of meals, but perhaps check with the CHN if you're worried. I do feed my babies 3 meals too. They still have 5 bottles a day (150mls - is all they drink - they should have 250mls for their age according to the tin but I struggle to get them to drink 150mls!!) yet still don't sleep good!! :banghead: They still wake for a bottle at 4am as well. Which I really shouldn't give to them, but for the sake of getting some decent sleep most nights I do end up giving them a bottle.

Superstar - for the nappy rash, have you tried a combination of a zinc cream like curash or sudocreme, and on top of the zinc cream a barrier like bepanthen cream?? I found that worked for Andrew when he was a bub. Otherwise it could mean a trip to the doctors for a script for a cream that the pharmacist will need to make up. It could be teething that's causing the really bad nappy rash. Hope K's going okay.

Nic - gorgeous photos!!

Hope all your babies are growing up well and it seems some of yours are powering along (I mean, crawling, and pulling themselves up on furniture - WOW!!). I know the rest of our babies will catch up in time.

Nanay

Just to answer the solids thing...
Braden is on 3 meals a day with about 4-6 feeds (three of which are from a bottle).

His breakfast is two ice cubes of fruit and farex (mixed cereal). Lunch is a combination of one fruit and two vegetables and dinner is 4 vegetables. there are times, especially when we are out that Braden would eat all his lunch and still would cry out for more so i give him a jar of baby food and surprisingly enough he finishes the whole jar as well. I just take this as a sign of his growing up and needing more than just milk. i have also noticed that he has slowed down a bit on his milk. Sometimes he wont finish a whole bottle but sometimes he will drink it like there's no tomorrow.

He's had rice, pumpkin, carrot, sweet potato, potato, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, pear, apple, avocado and banana... he loves everything except for potato and broccoli. I am thinking of starting meat next month...

RaryGirl
07-07-2007, 12:00
Sam has 3 meals a day and 3-4 200ml bottles as well. Some days he eats more than others, he'd eat the equivalent of a jar of baby food at each meal. Plus fruit finger food for in between snacks if he's hungry.

He has the baby cereal (7-9 months one) for brekky and then vegies for lunch and dinner. I bought some tins of the Heinz baby soup and he loves those - so he sometimes gets soup for lunch.

mummie2boys - the OB prescribed me the mini pill at my 6 week check up. I took it up until a month ago, didn't affect my breastfeeding at all. Now we're not bothering with anything as we'd like another child, so we'll leave it in nature's hands.

Noooooo breastfeeding is not a very reliable contraception at all. To be even vaguely able to use as contraception you would need to be feeding approx every 2-3 hours day and night. No solids introduced either.

I myself have an IUD and it does not interfere with breastfeeding at all - it is long term though so probably not what everyone is after. The mini pill I have heard to be fine with breastfeeding as it does not contain one hormone - which exactly I am not sure as I am not very clued up on the pill never having taken it myself.

Mummy2boys: I was on the mini pill when breast feeding Elora. It seemed to work, well I did not get pregnant on it, unlike the normall pill which I did get pregnant on???
Its ment to be not as affective as the normal one but its still 90% or more affective.(corect me if i am wrong). Beastfeeding if not a very good contraception, i know a fair few people who became pregnant while breastfeeding.
Oh and lucky you for not having your period yet!

Hi All!

Had a horrible night. Chelsea was playing up. Put her to sleep at 8.45pm and took till 9.30pm to put her down. She was so unsettled then she woke up at 10.30pm and was not back on her cot till 12am! My hubby had to come to the rescue as I had enough! She's been waking up at midnight this past 2-3 weeks then 4 hrs later wanting to be put back to sleep. I usually BF her at midnight but I find she doesn't really drink much and only using it as a comfort thing so last night I didn't BF when she woke up at 10.30pm but then she woke up again at 2.30am! So just gave her the bottle and she only took 40ml so I guess she is not hungry at all just want to be cuddled/pat to sleep. Oh I'm so tired!! I'm not going to give her BF if she wakes up at night anymore! I think she is just using it as a comfort thing and is getting used to it. I want her to go back to sleeping through again. Maybe she will eventually get the hint that I'm not going to BF at night anymore so hopefully she'll sleep through again!!

In regards to solids - she is having her 3 meals a day. Breakfast - BF then 4-5 tablespoon cereal. Lunch - 120ml formula, 4 ice block of veg & dessert 2 tablespoon gelly. Dinner - 120ml formula, 4 ice block veg & dessert yoghurt. Then snack before bath of 4 tablespoon vanilla custard. Then I breast feed her to sleep.

She sleeps 2x a day - ranging fr 1hr - 2.5hrs per sleep.

She doesn't like fruits at all.

CharlisMummy - as MCNmummyof2 said - keep giving until they don't want anymore.

Nic71 - Hope his ezcema on his cheeks get better real soon!

eloranatalia - Such a cute pic!

Sabby- Lovely photos, love the mothers group one they look so cute all together. Sorry to hear about your bad night i hope things improve once you drop the night feed

CharlisMum- I asked a similar question about solids last week, the answr was basically to feed bub until they dont want any more, some babys want alot and others not much, let them be the guide

Nic71- i hope Sams excema clears up quickly

Eloranatalia- Love that photo, isnt she clever atnding up, very cute

We had James' swimming lesson today, no-one else turned up so we had a one on one lesson. Yesterday James wouldnt sleep all day not sure what the problem was but atleast he was so tired he slept all night and is back asleep now so im off to have some lunch in peace and quiet

EandN

Nic71, Elora and Natalia both have has excema on their faces before. Poor things it doesnt look nice. i hope it clears up for them fast. When it comes to baths and showers try and use QV bath washes or sorbolene, most of the baby "soap free" washes are full of other bad stuff. And always rinse them off after a bath with bubbles or babywashes, soaps ect.

Sabby, What cute pictures, so lovley.

Natalia's new trick of pulling herself up on things is a disaster. She just does not have the co-ordination at this age to be able to get her self down. She has had some nasty falls and bumped her head badly. Now I can not leave her for 5 secs. She is always pulling herself up so i stand there with her. When i go to the loo or take Elora I have to put her in the high chair because that is the only place she cant stand up at.

Here are a couple more pics of Elora and Natalia

We had our first swimming lesson on the weekend. So much fun!!

happybirthday eloranatalia! Hope you had a great day.

Thanks everyone hoping Sam's eczema clears - the creams works really well and it's gone down heaps .... so I'm hoping a good moisturiser will help keep it at bay. I love the smell of all the J&J baby washes ..... just a pity we now need to use a QV or similar .... he just doesn't have that "baby" smell.

Eloranatalia - love the photos - especially the last one, aren't her eyes beautiful.

Sabby - I hope Chelsea stops her midnight playtime soon .... it's so draining isn't it. Great photos ... she looks so very cute.

AnnaC - great when you get a one on one lesson .... DD loved it when she got one on one attention and used to "play up" when she had to share.

Well I got a misery guts here today ..... nothing is keeping Sam happy ..... I'm not allowed to leave the room, even when making lunch, he could see me from the dining room, but chucked a sobbing tanti until I came back. Oh DH is going to have a ball with him tonight while I'm working.

Well it's back to school here in Qld tomorrow ..... so poor Sam can't sleep whenever he wants (not that he slept today) ... he has to fit in with the school pick up/drop off. Which normally means he finally drops off to sleep about half an hour before I have to pick up DD and then I have a grumpy britches for the afternoon.

I hope everyone has a good night tonight - lots of sleep.

we use huggie extra sensitive it doesn't affect DD eczema and it makes bubbles:smiliedance: no pretty smell though!
I used to use amolin and i missed the smell so much!
My DD eczema was at its worst at 7mths but now she is 2 there is only a bit on her hands , good luck it will get better, socks on hands at night helps so they don't scratch:fingerscrossed: goodluck

happybirthday happybirthday happybirthday happybirthday eloranatalia

Nic71 as for the baby wash. pop down to your local health foos store and get something from there without all the chemicals and things in them. flip over your huggies or J&J and look at all the ingredients in them, i dont like the idea of putting that on babies skin!
they have things that are all natural with no yucky things in them.

GEE you girls can talk!

i dont have a look for a few days and have to read a whol heap of pages!
haha

as regards to the solids Rylan eats like a dam horse! he will eat one whole tin of baby food and still want more. i've giving him 2 tins sometimes and he still wants more.
we seem to think hes like a Labrador and will just open his mouth and eat if its put in front of him.
he loves his food too much and will eat anything.

Great pics everyone. I can't remember all the personals.

Jasie has discovered the vertical blinds and crawls on his back always to them and tries to suck them and he loves when he can kick them and they move. Otherwise no crawling yet.

Hope next night will be a bit warmer !!

Oh I love my grobags, got another one today from ebay. It keeps him so snuggly warm.

At the end of the month we are going on our first little family trip. We are going to Lightning Ridge to the Opal festival.Love the outback to unwind from the stress and I love opals.Such amazing gemstones!

I agree with you, my babies don't have that gorgeous baby smell... Jake has really bad ezcema and we've been to the dermatologist for it. We can't use anything on his skin, it's all hard work to make sure his ezcema is under control :crying: We need to use QV bath oil for his bath, QV wash for hair, Hydroderm moisterising cream, sigmacort for face and ears, advantan for body and back. I need to wash clothes in Purity or Amolin, no softener. Hot wash. 100% cotton clothes (yeah right, as if I can get my pram inside Cotton On for kids clothes shop!). No wool, so no beanies or fleecy clothes!! Arghh, it's too hard!! Anyway, I really hope Sam's ezcema gets better for you and you do not need to go to these lengths. :o

Gorgeous pics Sabby - I really love the one of Chelsea in her cot. Where did you get the baby cup with her name from?? And I'd love to meet you sometime!!

happybirthday Caitlin!! Hope your kids give you a good day!! Love their pics, and they have such gorgeous blue eyes!!

My fallen angel - Love your comment about Rylan being compared to a labrador -that he'll eat anything that's put in front of him!! hahaha...

Cordu - I love my grobags too, I think they are the best!! If only my babies will sleep through the night!!

Hope you are well, I'm off to give my babies their dinner and start the crazy night routine of dinner, bath, bottle then bed!! Good night all

wow what beautiful photos and happybirthday

thanks girls for the advice on the contraceptives. we are just using condoms, but was thinking about the mini pill but i had alot of trouble with the normal pill.

i hasven't been on all weekend. sounds like you all have been busy. hope all babies are sleeping better.

for dry skin, ihave found a shop at esst brisbane that makes natural body products. "hand made naturals" i know i have spoken of it before but the products are just great. there are no chemicals it it which are good for the skin.

:hugs: hugs to all who are having a bad time of it. just ride the wave it will get better.

sorry no time for more personals, baby owen has woken again. must go till next time

take care kell :)

Greetings once more from England! It actually feels a bit like summer now - we had a beautiful weekend. On Sat we went into London on the train and met up with a friend from Sydney - and watched a bit of the prologue of the Tour de France in Hyde Park. Half of London was out enjoying the sunshine, and I can't blame them.
G is just great, very sociable with everyone. She is sleeping straight through half of the time it seems, but it is fine - as I said to DH its a small price to pay when she is so good during the day. No teeth yet, a lot of rolling and a lot of rolling around!
We have just under a fortnight left here so it feels like time is getting away from us, still a lot to do it seems. Today we didn't take our child to a pub for a meal, but don't worry, we are going out for lunch tomorrow! Am seriously considering joining weightwatchers again on return to Aus - not fun but a realistic option I feel!

andrewsmum - look at getting billiegoat soap. Im using goat soap with honey on lachy, he was having wet dressing on his ezcema and the goat soap really keeps it under control. its about $6.50 a bar, ive found using it on me and the kids it lasts 4 weeks or so, you just need to keep it dry.

hello everyone!!

i seem to have missed a few birthdays! so happy birthday to all those who have had a birthday!

we had yet again another weigh in today! (soooooooo getting old!) this week he has gained 80gms!!! :smiliedance: the chn has faxed his file thru to the pead in mackay and we are awaiting a call from them - so we can come to a conclusion as to what his issue is! and figure out what is the go with his shaking fit thingys. and he is stillll under 6kg!!! (5.9kg to be exact)

still not crawling, though he is able to commando crawl from one end of the house to the other (found him down the end of the hallway crying yesterday - cause he couldnt get to the dining room!! big bad gate!!)

we have had to remove mummy from the room several time this week - as he wasnt settling for daddy (poor daddy was getting upset about it! - now he know how i felt about bailey not wating me after hayden was born!) so i have had to just leave him to snuggle his daddy and funny enough i think it has worked!! now i just wish the little devil would stop crying when hes not being held and let me do things!

i have some new pics!!! i cant remember what order they are in but 2 of them are of him sleeping and he looked like a doll (in real life it looked better!) soooooooooo cute!!

My_fallen_angel. Do you feel good that you have been diagnosed and have meds now? When I was finally diagnosed with depression years ago it was such a relief to me because now I had a reason for feeling like I did.
Hoepfully you meds work well and not much in the way of side affects.
I can only imagine how hard it is having depression and looking after a baby too.
I hope you get lots of suport from family and friends.
Some people will never get it though. That its not just your fault and and think or say,if your feeling like your at the bottom of a hole, just climb out, it cant be that hard!
You can get info printed of the internet and give it to people if you think they need a bit more information on it and how it all works.
My dad still does not understand what went on with me! Mine was pretty servre too, but some dads are just hopeless i guess!
Hang in there, life is much better than you think it is right now!

I hope some of this made sence.

I reaslied how much my brain has slowed down since being home with the kids for 3 years. I went to bingo (wow old age has kicked in now!)last night and had trouble keeping up with them sometimes. My brain was not fast enough.

I was reading through an old post about breast feeding and i wrote beastfeeding insted. I know it felt like that sometimes with Elora haha.
