How much detergent do you use? And do you use liners?

Minimal detergent is needed and liners help to keep baby drier - rashes usually occur due to wetness against the skin. I would be surprised if the dryer is causing the rash.

If it's detergent build up you can do a "strip wash". I think there was a thread about it here somewhere. I'll check for you.

The dryer wouldn't be causing the rash. Well I can't see why it would anyway.
I would probably just give them a wash with no detergent and then give them another go. Sometimes if you put in fleece liners it can help as it draws the moisture away from the skin. It all depends on your bub though. Some react to fleece and are better without, some need it to keep the skin dry. It wouldn't hurt to give them a go. You can just buy fabric from spotlight and cut it up or you can also purchase them ready made from Baby Beehinds and other places.

Also plenty of nappy free time will help. Good luck with it.

Putting them in the clothes dryer wouldn't be the cause of the nappy rash.

Bubs could be teething again which makes her urine more potent and causing the rash. Liners would help this, either make some fleece ones yourself or you can buy some liners from nappy online stores. Raw silk would be the best to get.

If you have recently changed washing detergents, this also can be the cause. Also, you only need the smallest amount. Given that you only wash 3-4 nappies at a time would be equivalent to a small wash load, which you'll only need a table spoon (if that) of washing powder.

If you want to do a strip wash, what I do is wash in nothing but hot (no powder) a few times.

Lots of nappy off time, will do the trick if bubs is sore.

Best of luck!

I am currently using a dryer for my bamboo and hemp while living in a hotel (oh yes - sounds more glam that it is) and it makes no difference to nappy rash etc. As the others have said, it is more likely to be from wetness on the skin - I find I need to change slightly more often than when using disposables, so maybe be aware of that too.

I use polar fleece liners which I've cut myself from some polar fleece from Spotlight.

During the day I just use a strip in the middle of the nappy.. but at night I've cut it so I can fold it up like the nappy and they are completely covered. with it doubled back over their 'lil peenie' so there's double moisture protection their.

I find that in the mornings evn though their nappies are drenched... they're still dry.

no nappy rash yet at all and we've been using for a month.

Oh, and we're using the dryer too.

I find that using the dryer on the BBH makes them softer, so if anything would have thought it would reduce nappy rash. We use liners - just bought some micro polar fleece from spotlight & cut to shape, and DS/DD rarely have rashes. When DS does - i stick his bare little bottom in the filtered sunlight through the window & it looks heaps better by the time i put his nappy back on.

Hi Rach
Nope not the dryer, If you want to try liners, I have a whole bunch of microfibre ones from BBH that Hannah can try. I posted a GOD WHY HAS MY MCN BABY GOT A RASH post a while ago and everyone was so helpful with rash cures.

Turned out it was psoriasis not a rash at all for Andy and not due to cloth nappies, thank god. If you want some liners just call,
Love Kate xxxx
