I'm pretty sure it is advised to wait untill bubs is 9-12 months to introduce eggs. Due to possible allergies.

Dont worry i started my bubs early also but i wont evern get into that discussion LOL
What you have been told is true babies shouldnt have whole eggs till around 12mths you can introduce egg yolk around the 8mth mark but only if there are no allergies in the family then around 12mths thats when you try them on the whites & if there are no problems then they can have the whole thing :D
Its mainly held off due to a large number of children having allergies same with nuts which are held off nowadays until at least 3yrs. With eggs the allergies usually come from the egg white which is why they are held off for a little while as bubs gets used to the yolk which should prepare them for the whites.
Anyways im not usually by the book but this is really something i stick with as allergies really worry me especially if they have anaphelactic (sp?) shock.
My bubs is coming up to being 11mths old & i have only given him egg yolk every now & then im introducing it more now though. Otherwise he has been eating all vegies & fruits for ages & loves em !

Yeah some pretty scary things can happen to them if they have a reaction to it hay.

I would say wait but thats me & your mum so you have the better instincts IYKWIM.
I just chose to err on the side of caution as i would rather be safe than sorry. I have this big fear of giving him soemthing he shouldnt have then calling an ambulance & having to explain why i gave my bubs something he shouldnt have had etc & then DOCs making a house call
Yes im a drama queen
Tam, Your mum is right as even my mum gave all us 3 girls eggs & nuts early no probs but the thing nowadays its been proving that the way certain foods are either manufactured or produced is done in a way that causes problems & leads to allergies !
Our poor kids definately have it tough in some ways thats for sure ! :(

Whats wrong with FAREX ????? Iron fortified rice cereal - it has everything baby needs and has been used for generations with no problems - it's safe it's easy, and can be mixes with whatever milk you use

My son is 6 months old and though he does occasionally want some pureed fruit or veg or rice cereal, most of the time he refuses it and wants the breast, I figure as long as he's happy and healthy and putting on weight I'll let him choose what he wants to eat!

Good luck with your bub, she's adoreable btw! :)

I totally agree with you Tommy bub, Chloe also does the same thing just every now & then she will completely go of food & only want the breast.

Yep just go with the flow !
Makes life a little easier.
I mean after all why push them into something they are keen on ?
My bubs still at 10mths often has more bottles than food all just varies & its so much easier to deal with a content bub who has been given what he wants ! :D

My Twin Cousins had an allergica reaction to eggs when they was a few months old...so of course i was reluctant to give to my daughter at that age,,,although i end up trying her with eggs and absolutly loves em! and had no reactions!which was great..so as was said befor just gradually give them some incase of any reactions

As far as I know, if there are no family allergies present then there is no reason you can't introduce egg at or after about 6 months. Sienna has been having scrambled eggs since about 8 months with no ill-effects.

The best way is to give egg yolks only from 6 months and then introduce the whites (the part that most allergies are associated with) from 12 months onwards.

My kids loved scrambled egg yolk ... I tollerated scarmbled egg with heaps of white - lol;)
