Well, even with all my Bumgenius dramas in the last few days I have decided it is still worth it...
Today was the first real bin collection day since we started cloth full time, and our bin is only half full instead of overflowing. I gotta say that is REALLY SATISFYING! It reminds me of the reason that I chose cloth (i.e. not just cos they are pretty!) and I reckon even if I am stuck with leaky nappies I will find a way to make them work because it is just not worth throwing out dozens of disposables every week.
The more I think about how much waste my mothers group alone must generate... it is scary!
I wont tell them about the leaky nappies... I will say they are great but engourage them to get diff brands if they ask (though they are all rather committed to their sposies...)
Better go clean the house
Thanks, and thanks for putting up with my BG stresses too!

awwww :)
I know - i get a kick out of it at bin day too!
I love walking straight past the nappies when i do the shopping too!
:smiliedance:
It's all about experimenting to get the right nappy for you/bub. You'll soon find the right combination that doesn't leak :)

I love that our bin doesnt stink as bad now. I dont have to hold my breath every time i walk past it plus i dont have to make my nightly late night trip to the bin before i go to bed with a shopping bag of stinky nappies.

Well done!!
It must be such a great feeling to have made the change. It is quite distressing to think about how much rubbish disposibles create isn't it? It frightens and saddens me...:(
But on a positive note!! You are doing a great thing :yelclap:
And isn't it FUN!!!

Oh and if you are having leakage issues go for fitteds with wool covers...great combination....no leaks!!

Ooh Ella, be careful making promises like that LOL - as much as I LOVE the combo of fitteds with wool, Jet even manages to outwee that at times! ;)
Back to OT - we've used cloth since birth but I can imagine how horrible it would be to have bins full of stinky nappies, yuck. If my DH ever complains about how much MCNs cost I just remind him not just much more expensive sposies are, but how many more trips down to the bins he'd have to make! (we live in a unit). That shuts him up every time
I love when we don't have a full bin! When we moved DH said "oh we'll have a smaller bin, we'll have to be careful..." and I told him if HE stopped using 'sposies so much (we need them for night) then maybe it wouldn't be so full! :P
He's gotten better with using the cloth now. haha :P
I love walking straight past the nappies when i do the shopping too!
This is a great feeling

I have half a box of huggies left over and when my next few nappies arrive I will have enough to be full time forvever :)
DH rang me to tell me Huggies were on special and do we need a box and I was like NOPE and it felt gooooodddd!!!!
And yep, our bin has so much more room in it too!!

It's is a great feeling. We have a bin in Kieran's room and used to have to change it daily as it was overflowing, and now it only gets changed once a week if that!! We just went away for a few days and I used disposables while away and he got nappy rash!! And one leaked!!!!

It's a great feeling isn't it!
I was using sposies the last couple of days due to a major nappy rash, and had to slather her in cream, it was amazing how quick our bin filled up, so glad I dont have to worry about that usually

DF went and bought 2 boxes of huggies last week, I guess he was being helpful but I don't want them in the house anymore! (but I still use them occasionally)
And with the arrival of a little squirt in the house the bin no longer smells like an outhouse. poo in loo, where it belongs. :) (and no more poo under fingernails cause of having to shake-n-scrape.:barf: Yippee!)
I love not having a full bin :yelclap:
