Are they still soft?
I have hemparoo's as inserts for pockets... it's the same fabric isn't it? They started off sooo soft but are now rough and cruddy...
Just considering whether to buy some... :detective:
So tell me what you think of them now that they've been around a little while :D
Also- how is the fit different to a BBB, in your opinion?
TIA!
is this the new bbh one?? i havent tried mine yet so id love to see what people think of them regarding absorbancy.. but i hope they stay soft and fluffy...
mine's still soft as i hang them in the shade...great for overnight too...as reliable as the bbb..i know cos i have them all.
I'm bad, when they get too stiff, I toss them in the dryer for a while first, and then hang them out to dry the rest of the way. It keeps them softer. I also use a nice soft liner to keep it away from his skin.
The shade and drying them on windy days helps though! lol
I also use vinegar as a softener once in a while - but not with anything with PUL it can break it down if used too much.

Mine are still soft but with the old one's I found they were less stiff when drying was slower anyway (ie dried overnight in summer as opposed to quickly in the sun) so not sure whether the cooler weather impacts on that too.
It's good absorbency wise, better than the old hemps but obviously not as much as the bamboo.
It's probably been 2ish months since I started using them. (only have 2)
i find some of my hemp inserts and bbh do get a bit crunchy, i have to admit i chuck them in the dryer for 10 mins after i get them off the line...

I don't have a dryer so I might pass on these then, and just stick to my BBB... even they get soo rough and crunchy around here! I can't keep any of the nappies soft  Ah well. More excuse to need bamboo velour, lol.

I have the old hemps and the new hemp fleece,
so how are they going?
SOFTNESS
The hemp fleece are still very soft and I usually line dry. I would say not quite as soft as a bamboo but close, and they get more "crisp" than crunchy. A quick screw up in your hand (not a full roll up crunch) and they are fine- pretty much same as bamboo. They are so much softer than the old hemp. I have now mixed up my hemp fleece and bamboo liners and I can not honestly tell the difference. If you love bamboo softness you will love hemp fleece softness.
ABSORBING
It is very good and I will even say better than the non fleece hemp but it will never be as good as bamboo. My boy poos a lot but trials on my nephews shows a fleece will last (non poo) for about 3 hours in comfort with no booster or liner before anything starts leaking. PS this is leaking to the point you can feel it beneath their woolies or PULs.
STRETCH
The old hemp lovers understand me here ( and the local BBH rep said it was her FAQ about the new fleece).
No, sorry, it does not stretch anywhere near what the old old ones used to- so if you see them for sale- snap them up. Sigh, the days of snugger than a sposie due to great stretch are numbered. Yes the fleece stretches better than bamboo- but it doesn't strech at all! So Yes, there is about 1-2cm give in my 3 month old hemp fleece but nothing like the old 5-6cm wrap around wonders.
DRYING
No contest here. My fleeces dry at the same rate as my old hemps- about 3 hours in the dry sun, 6 hours in indirect sun or overnight on a clothes horse indoors. My bamboos take 2-3 days no matter where they are. Thats why I have mostly hemp in my stash- Canberra is not good for drying in winter.
OVERALL
I love my old hemp for their snug fit, I love my new hemp for their softness, I love my bamboo for their role as the ONLY night time nappy I will ever use.
Thanks, hope this was useful to potential fleece buyers :o
