Our 2 year old son is doing very well with his toilet training during the day and wears underpants during day sleeps (approx 2hrs). He isnt ready however to go a whole night without a nappy. He doesn't like wearing his night nappy and continually takes it off and wees in the cot. We have tried using pull-ups at night, dressing him in overalls (he manages to undo the buttons though), and placing him in a bed with potty next to the bed (wouldnt sleep in bed) - all with no success. Does anyone have any ideas how we might be able to overome this problem?

Hi
I've not had to do it myself, but I've heard of people using gaff (electrician's) tape to keep nappies on reluctant kiddies. Mind you - if he can remove pull ups, you'll have to tape REALLY well :D .

Overall, its probably a good thing that he doesn't like his nappy, as when he's a bit older you'll be able to explain to him what he needs to do if he doesn't want to wear it.

Looking on the bright side...

Thanks for the advice Samantha - we tried the the tape and were pretty confident that he wouldnt be able to pull it off, but after about an hour and a half our little Houdini was able to free himself from his taped nappy! The last few nights we have been using a pair of his tracksuit pants which have draw-strings. We have put them on him back the front so he can't get to the double knot we have tied. It has been working very well - he hasnt been able to get them off yet.
Thanks again for your suggestion and help

Heidi :)

Hi Heidi!
That's really clever! I know it's not funny for you to have to change the sheets
every night but I am picturing this little boy thinking to smart for you mum!
I just hope I remember all the tips I'm getting now, when the time comes that I need them.
