View Full Version : Food colouring and floors...
Just a quick question to all you wise mothers who have gone before me...
...If i put food colouring in water and it got spilled on either tiles or lino, would it stain? I have real tiles downstairs and lino upstairs so I can have it on either.
Oh, and I don't want it to stain, I want to let Andrew have a play with it :) (just in case that wasn't clear!)

Jif or gumption probably would get it off....
As long as it isn't too concentrated it is normally okay. We put drops in the girls bath for fun sometimes and neither the bath, their skin or the face washers have ended up tinted as a result (and sometimes I am a little heavy handed with the "drops"!). If it does leave some colour then Jif removes all in my experience! Gee i am full of handy hints today aren't i?
Lol Draught, you've answered all my questions today - maybe I should quit posting and just PM you directly for advice!! :D:cool::p;)

Concentrated food dye on old lino is a nightmare.
I do cake decorating, and dropped a bottle of blood red on the lino.................
ooh that could be one way to persuade the landlords to rip up the crusty old lino in the kitchen...accidentally knock the colouring off the shelf...hmmm
might give it a go on the tiles downstairs. at least it is only the garage area, won't be too much of an eyesore if a major disaster occurs!
thanks everyone :D
