Need Urgent Help Please

Hi all,
I need heaps of help. im meant to be getting married in october and i have no idea where to start. Im after a cheap but good: photographer, hair/makeup artist, cake, cars, band, flowers, bridesmaids/groomsmen outfits.
Please if anyone has any ideas or nos of anyone in the sydney region i would greatly appreciate it

I'm not in Sydney, but here's a few general tips I was given...

Cars - Especially if your ceremony and reception are in the same place, no one is going to see you arrive anyway. They should all be sitting down waiting for you to come down the aisle! Unless you really have your heart set on a horse and carriage, fire truck, etc why not ask a friend or relative who has a new car to drive you? My sister had just bought a new one when I got married. It was even silver! Great timing :)

Cake - check out the cakes that places like "The Cheesecake Shop" too. They'll cook just about any cake you want.

Band - Do you need live music? Or would a friend with a great CD/mp3 collection do?

I know how you feel i had only 2 months to get married due to immigration reasons. We got our family and friends to take the photos and picked out the best ones for our album. I bought my dress in a bridal discount store for $100. My flowers were done by my cousin. I bought loads of my favouriter flowers and she made them into bouquets for me. I got married in my MIL garden which we decorated with flowers and ribbons, (she had a beautiful garden anyway) As for the music my auntie downloaded a loads of songs from different eras to suit different people and we played that. My husband wore his own trousers and we bought a smart shirt for him. The day turned out very good.. Looking at the photos you wouldn't think it was a 2 month throw together. Good luck!!

My advice - is relax and focus on what you want and it will all fall into place - just call around and when you get that intuition that a certain photographer or whatever is the right one - book them!!

if you know what dress you want there is a lady on ebay who makes BRILLIANT replicas (the quality is INCREDIBLE) and they cost under $300 with postage for basically a spot on replica... i got my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses through her and my sis has had ball gowns.. not ONE fault with any of it, my mum is a qualified dressmaker and she raves over it all!! The bridesmaids dresses cost $290 with postage for THREE bridesmaids dresses with matching shawls!!

i have never been married but did work in an industrie that involved weddings and have had a few friends who have had nice cheap weddings

photographer: do you have a friend that is handy with a camera ? if so you could ask them to do photos as your wedding gift.

hair/makeup artist: hair, if you dont want a big "do" and like it simple tell them you are going to a formal dinner and you and your friends woul dlike your hair done for it. the price will go up if you say "wedding". make-up, if you only want that simple as well im sure you will find a good friend who would love to do that for you. if they dont suit you, just ring around and get quotes, as soon as you say "oh i think i might just go to the other place they were cheaper they will prob bring down their price.

cake:im not to sure where in syd you are but we have a nice little bakery near us (campbelltown) and they make the best cakes at great price. if you arent near us check our your local bakery (im am not meaning anything when i say this because it is true...try asian run ones, they are cheap and taste great)

cars: if you have your heart set on getting cars try renting cars from hertz, avis..ect. then you can ask your dad to drive yours and friends can drive the others. you can get a nice car for cheap if you hire it from them places

band: sorry i cant help you there, unless you are happy with a DJ instead

flowers: try going to the big makets (sorry i forgot the name the fresh ones) if you go their and ask around you can order them through them and make the arangements yourself

bridesmaids/groomsmen outfits: if you go to wetherill park there is a few shos there, there is one huge one that has last seasons stock and sells them really cheap. a friend of mind decided she wanted a red wedding dress and got a bridesmaids dress from there that was $200 maked down from $600

I know a great florist in Sydney - Jodie at The Flower Hut, South Hurstville. They won Sydney Flower Markets Florist of the Year. Yet still, their prices are really reasonable.

I had a friend take photos and that's my only regret. I wish we'd splurged on a good photographer.

Hi im getting married on the 6th October this year i found a Photographer over at carringbah its called Kingsway Photography he was the cheapest around we picked the $1295 package but i think they had cheaper ones they have a web site so check it out
Not having cars so cant help with that one sorry
i bought my flowers off Ebay they are silk flowers and the total cost including postage was $145 for all of them mine 3 bridesmaids all boys button holes and corsages for the 2 mums + throw
My cake is a 3 tier and it was $480
And my dress i got it fom the bridal factory and that was $1950 a lot more than i wanted to pay but fell in love with it...
