Does anyone have any good news?:gloomy: I am 44 about to have my 1 & only embryo implanted today and I don't much fancy my chances. I did spend the last 15 minutes babbling on but lucky for you guys I couldn't figure out how to post it so had to start again. It did feel good though. Is anyone else out there in the same boat at present? It is so hard to stay positive and I would really love a shoulder to lean on. Deb

Dear Brady's mum, thank you so much for your kind words. I am getting ready to head off to my appointment soon....fingers, toes, eyes crossed it goes ok. I will pop in on to the other thread that you mentioned when I get back as I definitely need some good stories for a chance as opposed to listening to people tell me off for waiting so long...oops sorry, I didn't have my partner then,, just going around the singles nightmare. Anyway, thanks once again & sorry for the blah blah.:fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:

daretodream,

Hun, just wanted to give you some hope. At 40, and with the help of IVF, I am now 16 weeks pregnant with identical twins. The chances are low for us "geriatric" mums as they so nicely put it, but the chances arent zero. And they are higher than trying naturally.

And I hear you on the people who ask why I put it off for so long. I didnt meet my gorgeous DH till later in life, and we only allowed ourselves one year of marriage before trying, so we didnt intentially put it off.People assume a lot of things.Although if I knew how hard it would be to conceive we probably would have tried that little bit earlier, but hindsight is a great , but non-existent, thing.

Good luck for today, and we all have broad shoulders for you to lean on so you are welcome to them.

Love
Donna
xx

A great big thank you and hug to all of you.:hugs: Just got home following implantation of my one & only embie - ?viability at 2 days it has only 2 cells but here's hoping, the embryologist said it looked good regardless & womb had thickened nicely.

So, the count down begins to July 5th - blood test day. Thank you once again for your kind words & support. Bye for now!

Once again my thanks to you all for your words of encouragement. I have been looking in on the other ivf threads and I have to admit the support you give one another is incredible. Almost like having a couple of dozen close friends giving you the warmest hugs when you need one the most. I sincerely wish everyone all the best on their ivf journey (I'll try not to think of it as a nightmare). I will probably pop up in the other threads rather than keep this going unless of course there are some other geriatric wannabe mums like me out there that need a special place for unique age related issues. :hugs: to all.

I have started my countdown to blood test day(5th July)...:fingerscrossed: my little embie is nice and snug and continues to grow. Is any one else on the same countdown?

Hi DTD et al,
from your post, I am guessing this is your last chance, and you are not doing IVF again ?
I am 41 and will probably do first epu in a couple of weeks...starts injects last Friday.
I've done 2 GIFTs this year and whilst I had excellent text book reponse to drugs, both were BFNs.
I am feeling confident though as I know I can carry to full term having had a wonderful pregnancy at 38. (I also conceived the first month after coming off the pill....you can imagine my frustration at not having been able to conceive within the last 2.5 years. grrrr.)
best of luck with your embie....there's is always a chance and always hope that this embie will stick.
Keep posting if you want….I'd like to have more contact with older mums TTC.
Cheers LG

What a surprise to find your posts...thank you & a big hi .

Asha -How have you been holding up? I have been going crazy and it hasn't even been 4 days since transfer. Good Luck with the BT on 29/6. Hope for a positive result for you.:wizard: Lots of sticky baby dust.

Adamsmum - hi, glad you popped in. Welcome to the "geriatric mummies forum" No, seriously it is hard and I would love to be able to speak with people in similar predicament. I am trully thinking this is the last hope for me only because the look on my FS's face when I told her my age...she didn't really have to say too much but she said enough with "you do realise that success rates are fairly low almost non existant after 44...blah blah". I think I tuned out after that. Unfortunately, I am quite on edge due to the dreaded 2WW at present (5/7) & everything about my fertility centre is annoying me - including lack of support - I sometimes feel like they are humouring me, incorrect dosage advise re: injections - they assumed I knew from last cycle - I couldn't remember the dose from last time so i was on 175 for 3 days before i decided to ring and check, was told i should have been on 300. I have been wondering if this is why I only got 3 eggs. I have read where other older mums were on 600. Sorry - too much:ecomcity:
Good Luck with the dreaded injections - what are you on? Stay positive...Lots of baby dust your way:wizard:

Jaasssy82 - Thanks for dropping in with your stepmum's story - now there is a real inspiration. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Bye for now. Will drop in later

Hi Adamsmum, Good news about the scan, hope all goes well with the EPU - when is it? Lots of :wizard: your way for lots of healthy eggs which grow into healthy embies for transfer.

I have been laying low the last couple of days, I think the 2WW has made me really :gloomy: so I haven't treally been in the mood to chat and if I was really honest I'd say that I was feeling bad to be so needy...the girls on the other thread have been really positive and supportive but so many of them are going through difficult periods and I didn't want to burden them with my worries & insecurities.

How are you holding up?

Celestine

Oops, sorry...missed the part about the EPU next Tuesday. Glad you are staying positive, you need to be, (says be the biggest sook on line at present & the biggest scatterbrain too). Here's hoping this is you next Tuesday:smiliedance: with lots of nice eggies.
