Hi everyone, new to the site and really need some advice. Previously my son was attending a playgroup / childcare centre one day a week. I felt okay that my son was in a place where he could build friendships and play with kids his own age on a regular basis - form relationships etc,???

Well, due to a clerical error, my son has been told he cannot attend any longer as his placement was given away??? Go figure???? Non the less - get on with life right????

So now I am in the dilemna of figuring out how to replace this. There are no other childcare centres which can provide this now.

I live in the redcliffe area and was hoping some of you might know of some playgroups, whether through churches or organisations, etc, that offer some kind of activities for my 2 year old boy and maybe some continuing relationships?????

Money is not free flowing this end so we are really looking for cheap alternatives.

Can anyone offer some advice or places we could go in the Redcliffe City Area - no transport to speak of so sort of needs to be local.

thanks all
lsb

Hi lsb - if the clerical error was theirs I'd be up on that high horse demanding the place back. I've had it. This happened to us when we were looking for childcare places for our children ... names on a thousand waiting lists.

If it was yours - get it back!

Now - onto the more serious matter of company for your little one and you. Have you contacted Playgroups Australia? http://www.playgroupaustralia.com.au

I would imagine also that a number of our members are from your area and hopefully one of them can put you in touch with a play group.

Best of luck finding something ...

Thanks for those replies

Supermum, I thought hard and long about what I would do when the childcare centre did this. My last thought on the matter was "if this is how they are treating me, an adult who can protect herself and has shown great loyalty by always supporting the centre and having my fees way in advance at all times, then how will they treat my two year if I am successful and demand they rectify the situation?????" I really couldn't send my son back now - I would always be afraid they were treating him differently or even badly. I just couldn't do it - I would never be at ease again sending him to that place. Believe me, I can put up a big stink if I thought it would result in something I could live with.

On the other hand - Playgroup Aust is someone I will be in touch with to see if this will be a suitable alternative. I am not sure how much they cost - we were actually getting a full subsidy from centrelink which made it affordable to send son along to childcare - or playgroup as we liked to call it.

Hi Alison, Murrumba Downs would be a little too far for us to travel - we do have a car but not a reliable one and we would prefer to stay local if that is at all possible.

I will definately check out Playgroup Aust. Thanks ladies.
