Hi all.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get a bub used to a pram? My 7 week old doesn't really like lying in it and when you go for a walk she usually ends up screaming - I would love some advice or suggestions as I am desperate to get out of the house and do some walking but bub won't let me peacefully!

I had a similiar problem with isaiah when he was little. What i did was while i was still at home i tried control crying in the pram and just walking around the house with it, so even tho he was screaming i was still at home. I would sit down in front of the tv aswell and just use my foot to push the pram and it only took about 2 days of doing this a little and he was going into his pram no problem. I dont know if this is of any use but its worth a shot if all else fails , good luck :)

You could try a sling or a baby carrier as some babies just like to be held at that age and introduce the pram later.

Yes I'd also recommend trying a sling- they are great for getting out with minimal 'baggage' and for doing housework etc.
There a heaps of different ones around, ranging from the baby bjorn type things to wraps like the hug a bub, simple ring slings and pouches that go over one shoulder.
Prices vary too from about $50- to really expensive.
If you're interested check out www.carryingaway.com it's an australian site which sells a lot of different slings and has good advice and descriptions!

There's a whole list of Australian sling suppliers on the main Bub Hub site on the shops directory > baby carriers, slings & child hip seats page. This is a direct link: http://www.bubhub.com.au/shopsslings.shtml

All different styles and prices...

I know it is against all advice from everone, everywhere but I found that my bub settles and sleeps (good for shopping!) on his tummy in the pram (and the cot for that matter). Obviously keep an eye on him and make sure no blankets cover head. I figure, if it works, do it! :p ;) Good on you for trying to get out and about - it has been my plan but doesnt always work with 2 little ones to keep happy at the same time! :o

SLING :D :D :D - my ds was the same, didn't like the pram much. The sling was the fantastic solution. Haven't looked back since, and the pram hasn't had much use either (and he's 6 mths old!)..... Stupid pram
