I am going insane!!! I have now been trying for an hour to get my 7 month old to sleep. This is after a night where he was waking every couple of hours and this has been going on for 3 weeks. I am tearing my hair out!!!

I went to sleep school just before Christmas and he was perfect and they asked me why I'd come - he has been a nightmare ever since.

I have always been against controlled crying because I thought it was harsh but now I think its harsh that I am over tired, he's over tired and my 3 year old is sitting in front of the Tv half the day as I battle to get the baby to sleep.

I am desperate and I need some tips!!

Oh you poor thing!

Trying to cope with a bub who needs to sleep but just can't quite get there is a very stressful situation.

You mentioned that before Christmas you went to sleep school - where of course bubs slept perfectly! - has anything changed since then, like bub's routine, or teething, or joining a playgroup or something?

Maybe his little world has been rocked by an event that doesn't seem much to you, and he is a bit disconcerted by it all?

Ummm, you could try getting him checked by a doc? Or maybe cut out a sleep if he's not tired in the day. Sorry, not much use, but I do sympathise - you sound exactly how I felt when my DD was the same age. It's not fun going thru the day feeling like a depressed robot is it? I think some of my DD's night wakings were caused by her chronic constipation making her tummy uncomfortable and she's improved lots with her sleep since that got better. Could your bub have anything like that? Hope things improve for you :)

I used a patting technique when Chloe was around 3-4 months. It still works to calm her down now when she's 2, though doesn't put her to sleep anymore. It's been awhile since I had to describe it, so I've probably forgotten some of it! But I wrote about it earlier in these threads: Settling problems (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=997) and Advice required (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=1888)

Good luck. We're currently struggling to get our 2 year old to sleep before 10pm, so I can sympathise a little.

Thanks girls. I feel a bit better now because he is now asleep. Martha I will check out those other threads thanks.

I think the really hot weather is not helping things.
