OK I am really annoyed right now. Oli has leaked out the back of the last 2 bumgenius pockets that he has worn today. WHYYYYYYY?!?!?

They are only new and I have lots of them. The one I trialled worked fine but now i have bought bulk we are having issues (typical). I dont know what to do. Disposables never leaked...

Anyway, better go find ANOTHER change of clothes for him...

How long did you have them on him for? I have never really had any leaking issues with BGs....

You could try boosting them with a mircofibre cleaning cloth from Kmart or the Reject Shop.....I just got some from the reject shop for $1 each.....

He was in the 1st one for about 2 hours and the 2nd one for an hour and a half... Shouldn't leak that fast??? They have worked fine for up to 4 hours so far!

Thanks Bec, Cherry

How wet was the insert? Could it be a detergent build up that is causing the suedecloth to repek pee?

I wouldn't say that the insert was particularly wet. Just slightly damp. I thought about whether it could be detergent buildup but I have only put them through the wash about 3 times as they are pretty new. I use about 30ml detergent and do an extra rinse cycle after the wash. Do you think this is enough?

run some water over the suedecloth if its repelling you need a strip wash

never had a leak with mine as i use the microfibre plus either hemp or bamboo closer to the outer to avoid compression leak(s)...
or...and they last overnight too...but i still prefer bbb with wool for nighttime

Zada you are a genius. The suedecloth is definitely not absorbing the water, it just pools in the nappy and runs out.

So thanks very much for that, I wasnt clever enough to think of such an easy way to check that out! Cherry

Great idea Zada  I was going to say that if the insert wasn't that wet, then it was likely repeling or the fit wasn't good enough, but there you go, that's a much better way to troubleshoot!

Glad you found out the problem Cherry!

Do you know how to do a strip wash? There are great instructions on oz cloth nappies.
To prevent it happening in the future, reduce the amount of detergent you use. Do you wash in hot? That might help, at least an occasional wash. Oh, and don't use creams either, they will cause the suedcloth the repel too.
