Hi everyone,

My DS is 3mths old & has developed cradle cap. It's not that bad but I want to do something about it before is gets worse.

Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get rid of it? Or will it go away itself? Unsure about it, I tried putting baby oil & rubbing it off, some has come off help but his scalp was getting red.

Any suggestions would be great!!

I used Olive Oil. Just out in on before you put bub in the bath. Let it sit for 5 minutes. THen use a baby brush & lightly massage it. It got rid of MJ's in one go :)

Hey I agree with RB, olive oil is good...

I had to do little dude more than one time though and as I don't use any products (shampoo etc) on the dude it took ages for water to wash it out!!!

Baby with oily wisps - very funny look :o

My DS2 had quite bad cradle cap, I mixed up a paste of bi-carb soda and water and put it on his head for 5mins then i rinsed it to loosen it up. It was a bit solid after 5 mins and then I gently combed his hair with a nit comb. It all came off and 3 weeks later I haven't had to repeat it yet.

Good luck :)

Vaseline also works well too. If you find it hard to budge, leave whatever you use in over night. From what I know, washing bub's head everyday will help to prevent it as cc is an oily skin prob, not dry as most ppl think.

Good luck x

One of my twin sons has cradle cap and i use Egozite which you can get from the chemist. You put it on twice a day for 3-5 days but dont wash their hair. After that period wash there hair and cont to use twice a day. So far so good

if you are breastfeeding squirt some onto his head and rub it in then rinse it off later on...

breastmilk is the magical cure for eveything!

Thanks everyone for their suggestions. I did use baby oil & it got some off but still has a bit in the middle of his head. So I will try everyone's remedies and hope for the best. I'm glad its not to serious to worry about it just yet.
