My husband and i are 9 weeks pregnant and have toured the Werribee Mercy

Could anyone please be so kind as to help with the following questions:

What are the costs involved in having the birth at Werribee Mercy? We are public patients.

We are keen on seeing Dr Ong or Dr Calandra what are your recommendations?

Are the ultrasounds done at the hospital?

How much are the ultrasounds?

If yes do they offer the 3d ultrasounds?

Are we able to have them put onto a dvd/vhs??

Do we partake in some sort of Childbirt h Education training(the usual 5 week course) through the hospital?

Sorry to bombard with questions first time parents so we need to know evrything.

Thank you so much in advance for your assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi there,

I hope i can help you out about Werribee Mercy Hospital.

I had my son (Joshua) there 18 months ago on xmas eve by c Section. I found the staff there where excellent and a great help and would answer any questions you had.

I am pregnant with our second child due 5 jan 2008. With Josh i was seeing Dr ong and this time around I am seeing him again. I found him excellent right trough my pregancy and would answer any questions you had. I had apointment with him a few weeks ago at 1.15pm and did not get in till 3.00pm due to he had to go into surgery and had to have lunch as he is a very busy man.

With all my ultrasounds I had them at the Werribee Mercy Hospital and I had the opportunity to record it in a VHS Tape. With the ultra sounds they where at different prices. I had not has a 3d Ultra sound but i wouls love to have one with this pregnancy.

I hope this information helps you.

If you need to ask me any other questions feel free to drop me a email coolmouse72@hotmail.com.

Take care and wish you all the best with your pregnancy

Cheers Jodie

What are the costs involved in having the birth at Werribee Mercy? We are public patients? Its free

We are keen on seeing Dr Ong or Dr Calandra what are your recommendations? I had dr calandra I'm not too sure about him he has a bad bedside manner but he has a good reputation as a OB he can be abrupt at times but cheap LOL! he didn't arrive in time for me to have the baby so was delievered by midwives but they were brilliant!!!

Dr Ong I have no idea

Are the ultrasounds done at the hospital? Yes it is done at Werribee Mercy...but through ur OB he/she has to write u down for ultrasounds u can't just go in on ur own...

How much are the ultrasounds? it depends on how far along u are.. it can be expensive up to $200 but can claim it back from medicare. if on pension (not sure about health care card) can be a lot cheaper.

If yes do they offer the 3d ultrasounds? no they dont I went to a private one if u want me to give u details I am happy to PM u.

Are we able to have them put onto a dvd/vhs?? they have dvd photo cd etc... like I said I am happy to PM u with those details for 3D but normal ultrasound iof u provide a video they will do it... (don't buy one from them it cists $11!)

Do we partake in some sort of Childbirt h Education training(the usual 5 week course) through the hospital? they do offer it but u have to ask about it I didn't do it as it was my 2nd one and felt I knew pretty much everything if I had any questions I would ring the hospital for advice they were great with that

Another thing Make sure u book into hospital now... hope I have answered what u needed to know.. pls let me know I am happy to talk more about it
