View Full Version : It hurts again
Ok this is weird....my nipples hurt again
DS is 4 months old and the last week it's hurting when he feeds. I'm getting attachment pain again and towards the end of the feed it hurts
Any ideas
Is bubs latching on properly?
could you have thrush?? has bubs been on any antibiotics lately?
do you have a slight crack around your nipples?

- my attachment was fine but I still found BF HURT I had pain due to my let-down reflex not working properly - for lots of reasons including being way too tired, also trying to feed in front of people I wasn't comfortable with....
Have you tried:
Kicking everyone out of the room
a warmed up cloth nappy (out of the dryer) on your breast b4 latching baby on? I found this really good to relax me,
Also taking a big deep breath and breathing out as I latched on....
it gets easy for bubs to just hop on themselves and sometimes they can get a bit slacker at getting the big open mouth. concentrating on getting the positioning and attachment properly will help if this is the problem.
thrush can cause sore boozies and would be worth ruling out.
someone mentioned hormones too, i know i always got a bit more sensative with one of mine at certain times of the month, so yeah, good idea tooconsider that too.
i hope that you find a solution that helps:thumbsup:

I'm pretty sure it's not thrush as I had it when Jack was a newborn

hmmmm...could be. Things on the home front have been very stressful of late. DS is waking at night again so I'm super exhausted..I think he's teething
Now that you mention about the letdown it's been a bit slower than normal....some days I have to do a bit of breast compression to get things going

He does just hop on himself now...I'll watch him over the next few days and see if it helps
Thanks ladies...I knew I could count on you all for some good advice :D
