Hi, my brandnew sling arrived today woohoo! I was so excited about it so I put bub in it straightaway, to my surprise she didn't seem to hate it (she's a fussy little bugger I can assure you, so hard to please  ). Anyway, I looked up on a lot of websites showing me the instructions ie. how to put it on correctly and what positions I can try etc. I still don't feel confident that I'm doing it properly. The poeple I bought this sling from are based in Melbourne and gave me the contact details of a woman in Sydney who can show me to use it. It's great but she lives like 40km away!!!! I don't have a car and riding a train for 2 hours with a bub shouldn't be easy (and I don't think there's public transport where she lives). Anyway, is anyone who lives near Parramatta willing to meet up and help me with this? I can meet up anytime during the week or weekend but it's just need to be around the area as I don't have a car :( I know this is a lot to ask but I don't know anyone who uses slings at all.

Hi rebeccamum,

I purchased a brand new baby sling off ebay and it should arrive tomorrow and i cant wait as i hate having to get the pram out everytime i just need to go to the bank or just go to the corner shop for bread & milk.

Anyway i hope you get in contact with someone that can help you with how to use your sling correctly.

Good Luck!!!

I know there's a sydney attachment parenting yahoo group, perhaps you could contact them and ask if there's someone close by? ( just look them up on yahoogroups) I think it definately helps to have someone show you a couple of different ways to carry and how to adjust the sling. I'm sure there will be willing hands to help :D

I second the SAP yahoo group. There are loads of members and I'm certain they'd love to help! I practiced with a teddy bear before my son was born and that worked really well too :)

Thanks girls :)

The lady who lives 40km away contacted me and offered to come over to my area to help!!!! OMG, I can't believe there're people with big heart like this in 21st century (not that I insult anybody's generousity but am just surprised). Having a baby does open me up to this whole new world and I'm glad that humanity still does exist :D

Thanks for the info on yahoo group, I'll certainly have a look at it.

Janet, I'm practising with a teddy bear too but the problem is this bear is a size of a toddler but my girl is 4 month old LOL.

I also got mine last week heheh but i was lucky that cause i practised using a teddy that its the same size as my little man as he is now 10mths old heheh !
Just start trying ti around the house a few ways to see how your comfy even plus you also need to figure out a way comfortable to yourself how to get bubs in & out this was the hardest part i found especially with a curious little boy wanting to pull at this piece of fabric his mama is trying to put him into heh.
Im so in love with it its great & so comfy like OMG comfy hehehe so much better than the stupid front carriers as i couldnt hold bubs after he was 4mths old as he was just too big & heavy for my back to bare ! Yet here is me carrying him around on my hip in a sling with him being 10mths old & 12kgs !!!! Go figure
Good luck with yours hope you find it as amazing as i have :D
