View Full Version : 3 meals a day?
Hi there,
My daughter has been on solids for 2 months now and doing gr8 BUT she only has 2 meals a day. So my Q is when do i start giving her 3 solid meals a day? She has 3 bottles and 1 BF per day.
Thanks

Its really your call...
If you think that bubs needs another solid feed then go for it..
My DS has been on 3 solid meals since about 6 months...
Give it a try and if bubs isn't interested, then wait a few days and try again..
Good luck
Bubs will let you know if she is ready ... she will refuse the extra solids if she doesn't need them ... as jacksmum said ... just give it a try!

My DD is 6 months and we are about to start her on a 3rd solid meal in a few days as we are finding she is wanting her night bottle earlier. I think they will let you know when they are ready.
thanks for that, i have given her brekky for the first time today and she seemed to be happy enough. So now she has brekky lunch and dinner.
hey jes
nath is starting on 3 meals/day tomorrow - he currently only has brekky and dinner, but i'm going to start lunch from now on.
What do you girls recommend for meals? At the moment we have...
BREKKY - farex & apples or banana & yoghurt
DINNER - mashed vegies (e.g. pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, carrot, peas) and / or chicken
What else can I try? I'd prefer easy stuff I can make myself unless you know of a really good and nutrious jar I can buy.
Sorry to hijack the thread Jes! ;)
Hey Sonia, you could have at least had a shower before you arrived:p *LOL*
I give Emma all different things for dinner and lunch, every second day i give her a tin of either beef, potato & pumpkin or chicken noodle and veg. I tryed to puree her some mince and pumpkin for tea the other night which she loved UNTILL she found a tiny lump of mince that she chocked on and projectile(SP?)vomited all over me*LOL* so i think i will have to use a strainer to get ALL the lumps out.
I have bought her some avacardo and parsnip and some apricots to try, not all together! She had mashed banana today which made her gag, so i added a bit of yoghurt which did the trick!
What yoghurt can i get Emma that is just natural yoghurt with NO sugar? Even if it is in a large tub?

Full fat natural yoghurt ! Its like when you start using milk to say make mashed potato for them it has to be full fat !
Babies need this for their growing bodies.
I either use Dairy Farmers natural or Jalna or even Danone. I find Jalna is the best though.
Just use whatever vegies or fruits you have in your home make sure if its the first time they have it that there is no reaction then go for it mixing it with others.
You can boil or steam some meat & then pureed it to mix with vegies.
You can make up a basic risotto & mash it to make sure its soft enough or even couscous mashed sweet or svaoury.
There are sooo many different things you can try !
