View Full Version : baby couch thingy
Am looking at buying DS one of those little fold our bubby couch things 9 sesame street / barbie themes etc) - are they any good???
Thought might be nice to watch his Baby Einstein videos on it rather than sitting on the floor:)
I thought they were good, but the only down side of them is when you want to clean it. I found this part very difficult especially putting it back together, and also the cover doesn't seem to stand up to constant washing so i have replace the cover a few times which is $$$$. I am now back to a washable rug for my kids & heaps on cushions on the floor! Much easier to wash!
I have a seasame street one and really like it.
Once you get used to putting it back together it gets easier.
I've washed mine 4 times (put a throw over it) and the stitching started to come apart, but was easily fixed.
Oliver loves it he falls asleep on it all the time.
Cushions sound like a great (and probably cheaper) idea though too.;)
We bought Andrew a Sesame Street one as soon as he could sit up. Its very cute :) He's not into watching tv at all (weird...) but he enjoys climbing all over it and sometimes will just sit there watching mum & dad :)
I think he will find it more useful as he grows, and maybe learn that its a comfy place to have a lie down :)

My mum and stepdad brough DD one just before her 1st birthday - it's not a fold out one though, it's a barbie one that has two pouf's (spelling?) with it. DD loves it, sits back with her feet up all relaxed!
I haven't found cleaning too much trouble - the pouf covers come off and on easily and wash well, the couch I've only had to wipe down so far.
My dd has one and just loves it. She has vomited on it twice however but I just took it outside and hosed it down with a bit of disinfectant. Only took about a day to dry in the sun.
Jenna has one and loves it! She watches TV on it, has a bottle on it and puts her dolly's to sleep on it. It is a bit of an effort to get the cover back on after washing, but once you figure it out it's not too bad. The enjoyment she gets out of it is worth it.
Ours was a pressie, and when it eventually wears out I think I'd get another one.
They're the bees knees! Ds loves his.
Kmart have them at the best price I think.
Yep we have one and both my DDs love it - and the 3 year old who nanny shares with us sleeps on it - she loves it! I haven't had too much trouble getting the cover back on and it is holding up pretty well after 2 years. When it gives out I will buy a replacement.

DD1 has had hers for nearly 2 yrs now, and loves it! I agree about getting the covers back on after washing, but once you know how, its easy. She has always had her daytime naps on it, watches tv on it and has lunch on it....Its holding up pretty well considering, though a bit faded from washing. When we buy DD2 one, i think we'll get DD1 a new one too.

I had one for Gemma and she loved it, I think it was sesame street. I bought Lachlan a Kaloo 'My First Sofa', it soooooooooooo cute. It's a teddy bear that's nice and squishy like a bean bag.

we got a cheapie one from target which has been great- you can get them with sleeping bag style insert which is really good though more expensive x 3. They really like to have their own special seat...found it a lot easier to get cy to eat and sit still on it than anywhere else, if that helps!

my kids just LOVE their little lounges, but as I was spring cleaning yesterday, I was so over how grotty the covers are; and becasue they're a bit of a pain to remove and replace, I don't wash them as often as I should, they're never going to be as clean as I'd like.
I'm wondering if anybody knows where to buy replacment covers? I didn't know you could, so one of these lounges was destined for the bin until I read this post.
Has anyone seen plain covers? Has anyone seen them online anywhere? How much do they generally sell for?
But, yes, a highly recommended product, as well as pouffes, the kids love those too, but for different reasons to the lounges.

Hi LucyP
They are fantastic! my 7 month old DS loves it and he watches his baby einstein sitting on it. He also does a kamakazee over the back of it and stands against. I have even sat him on it to feed him his solids. Mine is a sesame street one and it took me ages to find as the only ones I could see were those bigger ones. I got mine from Kmart as I found that was the cheapest. I would highly recommend you get one.
