Wow, I never knew this area was here.

Neither DF or I have eczema. But, my mother gets it severely... so we think that its been passed down from her to our DD.

She has it mostly across her chest and going up towards her shoulders. We originally thought it was just from her dribbling, but she doesn't really do that now and it is looking quiet inflamed and ouchy!

It doesnt cover the entire area, just patches... some big and some small. Is raised, scaley almost... and red!

What are things that can cause it to flare up? I have just put the first lot of Calendula cream on it in the hopes of helping it abit, but Id like to know what I could change around the house to make it go away (or subside, at least!)....

I don't know about things to change around the house but I use emu oil on my dd and it's great.

Dust mites (well their poo) is a trigger so you need to minimise that as much as possible - hard wood floors are best, carpets aren't great. Wash her bed linen frequently and a mattress protector is a good idea too. Frequently vacuum the mattress - they live in there, too.

Take her to a doctor regarding treatment - they usually suggest some sort of cortisone cream. Paw paw ointment (over the counter at a chemist) is pretty good, too.

Don't use soap on her as it's pretty drying and tends to exacerbate the problem. Lots of people wash their babies using just plain water or water and baby lotion. There are some other bath products that you could use ... I think there's a QV range that is moisturising. There's something else in the baby aisle in the chemist but I can't remember its name ... Curash maybe? Not sure - read the label.

I hope it disappears soon - sometimes it just does. :hugs:
