Alright, I need to buy a cot, I need some recommendations!

I want a wooden cot, with all standards met... maybe one with the adjustable height?do they all have those these days? ... meh, not bothered by that really.

I also need a bumper, cause DD is really on a roll!! lol This morning I found myself almost falling out of bed, so not good...
What works, whats best, recommendations. She's somewhat determined and stubborn so need a bumper that cures both of those :p

...Will be shopping in the next couple of weeks, so hurry up, get posting before DD has to rest her feet on the end of the bassinette! lol

I have this cot from IKEA.
http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15567&catalogId=10103&storeId=18&langId=-26&parentCats=15567*16180*16154&productId=53006
It converts into a toddler bed which I am finding really handy as DS is too little for a full single but can get out of the cot....
Thought it was reasonably priced and has served us very well.
Good luck.:)

It might not be what you are after but you may want to try a portacot. The sides are really soft and my daughter used to bounce of the sides and not wake up like with a normal cot.

You may find that not many places recommend cot bumpers anymore for safety reasons.

I put my daughter into a normal cot two months ago (she is now 19 months old) because she vomited all over her portacot and i was airing it out and found that she was ok in it now but when she was younger it used to wake her up alot when she rolled over.

If you used a portacot you could probably progress straight from a portacot into a big bed.

So bumpers aren't good?

What if she rolls over and can't wake me up? She has quite good head control, but mothers still worry :o lol

I thought about the port a cot, but tried my dads one and it was disastrous lol and hard to get her out because of bending down so far

I hate my portacot and only use it as it was intended, as a travel solution. The bending over to kiss her goodnight is a loooong way down. Unless you get one of those ones that raise up.

I think most cots nowadays have the adjustable matress height. Mine does, I got it from babyco, just nice plain wood, and it converts to a toddler bed. I think it was about $700??

I'm pretty sure most cots have an adjustable base..... and imo you definately want one! Less bending over when bub is little, saves your back!! I would say, provided you go somewhere reputable (Target, myer, Babyco, etc) you wont find a cot that doesn't meet the Australian Safety Standards. If your unsure I'm sure you can get hold of the requirements from the sids foundation (don't quote me on that one). Same goes with the bumper - they do not recommend them. Sids will also be able to tell you how to make bubs cot so it is a safe sleeping environment.
We got ours at Target on clearance for about $200. I love it, it's just very basic , wooden with adjustable base and both sides drop down. We also got our matress from Target. Make sure the mattress you get meets the requirements of the cot as they aren't all the same size and need to be the correct fit for safety.

have I rambled too much??? have fun choosing!

My ds was so active that at 5 months old we ended up putting him into the portacot full time as he kept rolling and getting tangeld int he bars of his wooden cot which meant that I was getting up to him several itmes a night as he was stuck and distressed. It made both him and I very tired as a result, so it was for both of our sanity that we did it!

Cot bumpers are considered dangerous ... nonetheless, I have used them with both kids and I believe that all of these decisions are up to the individual parent as they have a knowledge of how their bub sleeps. I had to put my bubs at the top of the cot as they didn't go downwards as we were told to expect, but upwards!
