AD SPECS
Page Ad (required for all 3 Star Advertisers) - 100 pixels wide x 150 pixels high (gif or Flash)
eNewsletter Ad - 100 pixels wide x 150 pixels high (gif or Flash + gif*)
Feature Space Ad - 242 pixels wide x 90 pixels high (gif or Flash)

(*we use only gifs in the actual enewsletter but can use the Flash version of your ad on other associated pages the ad appears, eg a selection of that month's competition pages)

File size: Maximum allowable file size is 35kb

Frames: The advert may scroll through 3-5 different frames. Ads built by The Bub Hub (see below for costs) are limited to a maximum of 3 frames.

File type: Images must be supplied in animated .gif or Flash formats. Jpegs are also ok but can't be animated. Advertisements will not be accepted in iFrame format.

Flash format: Ads may be supplied in Flash providing the file size does not exceed the constraints outlined above. You will also need to ensure that your flash movie opens up a NEW browser window when it is clicked on (ie the original browser window remains on our site and the advertisers site appears in a new browser window). If you want the Bub Hub to track results you need to request a tracking url from us to include in the file before you start the ad build.

Reminder: If supplying a newsletter ad in Flash format, you must also supply a gif version (the gif version is used in the newsletter cover and the Flash version is used on the associated relevant pages).

Important Note - WHO Code
Bub Hub voluntarily abide by the WHO Code. As a result, we cannot accept advertisements that promote infant formula or bottles, unless the bottles are part of a breastpump system. If you would like further information in this regard, please contact us.



Supplying Your Own Ad

Many advertisers supply their own ad image for Page Ads, eNewsletter Ads and Feature Space ads. If you want to supply your own ad images, please follow these criteria:

We suggest using your three frames as follows:

1. Your company logo and name

2. 'What's in it for me?' message/hook (ie why should viewers want to use your service or click on to your web site)

3. Contact Details etc + 2nd hook

You do not have to use all the allowed 5 screens. You may prefer to have a static advert with just one screen, or may just wish to use two different screens. We suggest you have at least 3 screens so that the advert is more eye-catching, rather than acting as a static billboard.

Linking: Your advert will act as a hyperlink to your profile so there is no need to actually repeat your web address on the advert if you'd rather use the space for something else. Also, bear in mind that with online advertising, you want the viewer to make the click through right then and there, you don't want them to write down your web address for later viewing. Not only may they lose the piece of paper, but you won't get a true indication through your statistics of exactly where your business is coming from.

Please note: Completed ads will be made live upon receipt only IF payment has been received. For 3 Star Listings, your listing will be upgraded once payment has been received. We will email you to advise and, if we have your advert, it will go live at the same time. If you are yet to get your advert to us or approve the artwork, it will go live at a later date. You need to remember to confirm which eligible page of the directory you would like your ad/s to appear. We are happy to offer suggestions, should you need a hand in deciding.

You can supply replacement images at any time free of charge. We'll need 2 – 3 work days to change ads.

 

Want Us To Create Your Ad Image? We Can Do It!

The Bub Hub is able to create animated gif graphics for your advert as we appreciate that many businesses may not have easy access to this sort of service otherwise. A one-off charge of $125 + GST per ad type is made for this service. This charge includes one update during any given calendar year.

Draft adverts will be placed in a protected area of our website for you to review IF you are unable to view the animated gif when emailed to you. Adverts will not be placed on the live site without your final approval.

In order to create your advert, we will require a DETAILED BRIEF along with:

  • electronic copies of any photographs or logos that are to appear on your advert (see guidelines below).
  • the exact wording that you require to appear on your advert (see guidelines below)
  • details of colour(s), font(s) and size(s) to be used.

Ads will be produced as animated gifs. We will not produce ads in Flash.

Please note that major deviations from the original brief may result in additional fees. Please consider your initial brief carefully.


Supplying the Brief - Be Clear on What You Want Your Ad to Say

Photographs & Logos: Photographs and logos must be supplied electronically in either .jpg or .gif format. The maximum size of any Page Ad graphic is 100 pixels wide x 150 pixels high (approx screen size is 3cm x 4.5cm) and for Feature Space it is 242 pixels wide x 90 pixles high. Please bear this in mind when submitting graphics - photographs and logos should be bold, clear and simple in order to have visual impact at this size.

The top image below is still quite clearly distinguishable at 95 pixels wide, whereas in the second image, the subject matter is difficult to see.

Wording: Wording should be kept simple and concise. Less is more! The box below represents the actual size of one frame within a Page Ad and Feature Space.

The minimum font size that you should consider using is 7pt (even larger for certain fonts). The example below shows different font sizes for Arial font in the actual advert frames.

Please let us know which font we should use. If you have a specific non-standard font that you would like us to use, please supply us with an electronic copy of the font.

We suggest using 10pt or 11pt for text with no more than 50 characters (5-10 words) on a page. Words are best mixed with a graphic or logo on the same screen.

Colours: Please let us know what colours we should use for:

  • wording (you may wish to use two different colours in order to highlight certain words)
  • background
  • any borders or other features

Colours may be specified in HTML, RGB or HSL definitions. If these codes mean nothing to you, please just attach an example block of colour (.gif or .jpeg) and email it to us.

If you would like us to match colours from your logo, or other graphics, please specify which of the colours you'd like us to use. We should be able to match colours without you having to supply colour codes. Similarly if you have no colour preference we are happy to suggest a scheme for you.

Please note that payment for ads is due prior to ad going live and no later than six weeks from day ordered/reserved.
