Children's play, activity and music programmes offer an opportunity to enhance your child's learning and development through play, music and dance.

There are a range of programme types - some concentrate of music and rhythm based learning, whilst others are based on physical activites, although you will find many programmes incorporate aspects of both music, sounds and activity to some degree. There are also some craft based programmes, which tend to be for slightly older children where scissors and glue are less of a challenge!

Most centres provide courses booked a term at a time, usually following the school terms and generally lasting 11-12 weeks in duration. Classes can start from a very early age - some from newborn.

In general, parents participate in the lessons and learn just as much as the children in terms of better ways to assist their children and enhance their learning.

We recommend calling your chosen provider for information rather than turning up at the venue, as the teacher's priority is on the class at hand, and they won't have a lot of time to answer your questions. You'll find that most teachers will usually return your call at times when they don't have classes - often in the early evening - so don't expect a ring back immediately when you leave a message.
