The Bub Hub is Australia's leading pregnancy and parenting portal. Driven by a passion to help Australian parents and parents-to-be make informed choices about their pregnancy, birth and parenting journey, we bring together details of local shops, online retailers, expert resources and services from all opinions and locations around the country. We want Australians to find pregnancy and parenting easier and less stressful. The site is non-judgemental with growth determined by viewer needs.
Our features include:
The Bub Hub is Australian owned and produced and does not receive any government or corporate funding. Our directory is human-verified, with all entries being checked before being added to the live site. We voluntarily abide by the WHO code with regard to breastfeeding information and advertisers who appear on the site. We are proud to be endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives (ACMI) and the Playgroup Association.
Access to the site is free of charge and qualifying business and organisations list on the site free of charge - allowing us to bring details of both the largest and the smallest operators from around the country to our viewers.
As a result the Bub Hub is the most widely used online parenting resource in the country.
The idea for this web site was born in June 2001 soon after the birth of our first child. Hilary had recently moved to Brisbane from the UK and while getting information on certain aspects of her pregnancy was relatively easy, getting information about services and products in other areas was very difficult and much knowledge of local activities and services seemed to be available by word-of-mouth only.
Hilary is a web designer, making and updating web sites for other companies, but through her own experience and feedback from other Mums identified the need for a web site that would provide parents and parents-to-be with a central directory of products and services for all aspects of pregnancy, birth, newborn and toddler needs.
Hilary began working on the content of the site and it soon became apparent that more resources were required to collate the large amount of data it contained. In November 2001, Brad was recruited from his marketing job and The Bub Hub Pty Ltd was born.
After exhaustive research the Brisbane site was officially launched on March 27 2002, the first birthday of the inspiration for the site, our son Matthew. Feedback from users, maternity workers and businesses was such that we were encouraged to expand the site nationally. We enlisted the aid of friends in each state to duplicate the information contained in the original Brisbane site and officially launched the "national" site (containing information for all QLD, NSW, VIC, SA & WA) on Australia Day 2003. We expanded to include directory information for the ACT, NT and TAS in December 2003, making the site truly national.
Our Sydney office is run by Danella Perrins, with the able assistance of daughter Ella, son Alex, and partner Malcolm - pictured below on our stand at the Sydney Pregnancy, Babies & Children's Expo.
